13 Bai Jingfei the Kitten? No.

Back in the Bai family residence, Bai Jingfei was having the time of her life. She was lounging around and enjoying the candy that she had bought.

The candy was quite interesting, orange or lemon flavoured, clear candy in attractive colors.

Bai Jingfei had already gone through half the sack, since she had bought the candies two days ago. And surprisingly Bai Jingfei wasn't sick of the candies yet.

For someone as fickle as Bai Jingfei that was rather shocking.

Prepared to spend the whole day napping and having candies, Bai Jingfei tucked herself into her bed and surrounded herself with the beautifully embroidered pillows. She had gradually had the number of pillows increased to the point where she could now build a pillow fort.

She had warped a cold and almost sterile room into a metaphorically warm, messy room.

Of course the room was still cold because she hated sunlight.

It was good that she'd built an immunity towards sunlight over the past few days but she still disliked sunlight with every bone in her body.

Liu Mama walked into her room after knocking twice.

Two knocks were more than enough time for Bai Jingfei to hide her sack of candies and then snuggle back into bed and pretend to be asleep.

As expected Liu Mama was holding the medicine she dreaded taking.

Bai Jingfei squeezed her eyes tighter unknowingly. To Liu Mama it was obvious that she wasn't asleep. Her wrinkled forehead gave her away but Liu Mama wasn't going to tell Bai Jingfei this.

"Princess please wake up!" said Liu Mama pretending to be desperate.

Bai Jingfei had truly grown fond of Liu Mama over the past week or so. Liu Mama always treated her well, and snuck her sweets once in a while.

Thus Bai Jingfei pretended to yawn, sat up and stretched her hands out above her head.

"Princess, you have to go to the palace today…" reminded Liu Mama while handing Bai Jingfei the toxic looking concoction.

Bai Jingfei nodded.

She pinched her nose with her fingers and gulped down the awful liquid. She wondered why they gave her the toxic brew in beautiful ceramic cups.

'What a waste'

Bai Jingfei was going to the palace with her father as she was recommended to exercise by the doctor and Prime minister Bai was nervous and wanted to come along. Thus Bai Jingfei was going to the palace with her father instead.

After wearing a dark green cheongsam and tying her hair up into buns, Bai Jingfei looked perfect for the main role of a drama with a name like "innocent loli" or "shy beauty".

She walked out of her room with some spring in her step, excited to go to the palace and see the aftermath of her fire party.

She ran up to her father and stuck her hands behind her back with a huge grin.

"Good morning papa!"

Prime minister Bai was overjoyed as usual and he chatted with Bai Jingfei as they walked over to the carriage.

It only took them half an hour to reach the palace.

Bai Jingfei was exceptionally cheerful and skipped through the road, kicking rocks once in a while as if she was playing football.

"You look happy today FeiFei-" said prime minister Bai before he was cut off by a guard rushing towards them.

"The meeting has started, Prime minister" announced the guard.

"FeiFei do you want to come to the meeting with me?" asked prime minister Bai.

Bai Jingfei nodded in agreement, the smile on her face never once faltering. She was quite interested in what went on in these so-called "private" meetings she was now going to eavesdrop into.

She walked behind her father into the meeting where she was given a small stool with a cushion on it, and a thin blanket.

Bai Jingfei felt like the child of the CEO of a large company.

They were only one milk bottle away from treating her like a three year old.

The emperor sat on the throne while the ministers were sitting along the hall, her father closest to the emperor, and she, right behind her father.

At first the ministers talked about an incoming flood or something not so important like that.

Bai Jingfei couldn't be bothered with that sort of thing. Natural disasters were the least of her concern. She wanted to hear military grade secrets or some gossip.

The air in the hall was tense but Bai Jingfei was lounging around. Even her normally relaxed father seemed worried.

Within a few minutes an unexpected topic came up.

"Prime minister Bai, your daughter witnessed the prison burning, did she not?"

Bai Jingfei knew she would be in trouble if she didn't handle this right. As the question was addressed to her father, she didn't answer and merely straightened her back.

"FeiFei, did you see anyone there that day?" asked prime minister Bai gently.

Bai Jingfei shook her head softly without saying a word.

She looked perfectly innocent and demure. Nobody would ever suspect her, especially with her kitten-like features and how delicate she looked. Everything about her seemed fragile except for her eyes which were somewhat sharp until brimming with tears.

Soon the focus was diverted from her and to a guard who ran into the hall desperately, as if being chased by a monster.

Before the guard could say anything, a short and rather suspicious looking old man walked into the hall followed by what looked like a procession of doctors.

It was Heavenly doctor Ming.

And with him he had brought his herd of doctors.

This was the first time Bai Jingfei had seen the heavenly doctor but seeing as to how much he resembled a certain disguise of hers, she knew what was coming.

"Your majesty, there is someone impersonating me. They are attempting to ruin the jade medical hall. I request you to investigate this matter." complained Heavenly doctor Ming

'Why do all my problems come in one go?'
