62 Bai Jingfei's Tragic Backstory

For the first time in two lives, Bai Jingfei was hesitant.

She was standing at the edge of a cliff, a river flowing below, with a handful of explosives. The jianghu would divert the river temporarily upstream and she had to blow the cliffside up to build the dam.

Bai Jingfei was usually fearless. She was usually confident enough to allow herself to be blown up. But today was different. Bai Jingfei had one fear and one fear only.

Well maybe two.

Or three.

But her being scared of pink shiny things and dung beetles didn't matter. She was scared of cliffs.

Back when she was only a few years old she'd gone on a field trip to a cliffside where she had had the most traumatic experience of her life so far. It was so scarring that she was now completely terrified of cliffsides.

It had been a sunny day, with a beautiful blue sky, years before she'd turned into a cave creature.

At that point she was a toddler with the curiosity to explore the world and see new things. This incident would change that. It would crush her spirit, and change her path from a doctor who would cure cancer to a cave creature who blew up herself in her spare time.

Which was all the time. She was unemployed after all.

But back to that traumatic incident.

She'd been but a baby, toddling to the edge of the cliff to take a peek. She had babbled and left the group of toddlers and teachers. The cliff was empty and abandoned. She'd been right on the edge when it happened.

She looked up at the butterflies, reaching out with little giggles, but she tumbled forward and a crow shit on her. It was stinky, smelly and horrid. It had grazed her ear and fallen onto her shoulder. That had been her best shirt, and her favorite ear.

But that hadn't been the worst part of the whole ordeal.

After the crow poo had fallen on her head, like the genius child she was, she headed to the bathroom to clean it off. Unfortunately her body was nowhere near as powerful as her mind, and she'd fallen over.

Once she fell over, the crow poop rubbed into her shirt and got mud stuck to it. Not only was there poop on her, spread out because of her fall, there were now clumps of mud stuck to said poop.

It had been quite traumatic to her since she'd been quite a clean baby.

Now everytime she thought of a cliff, she thought of that horrid day. The scent of crow shit, permeating through the sweaty air, and the stifling feeling of being trapped in her small body with no way to clean the poop.

To add insult to injury, she watched the crow fly over to a nearby tree.

Under that tree, there had been another girl. She was obviously rich. Dressed from head to toe in lace and sitting under a parasol a servant was carrying. Despite that she had almost gotten shit on too. The crow was rearing to make its move.

Bai Jingfei had felt glee. Poop was the great equalizer. A rich man is pooped on the same way a poor man is. She felt joy as she watched the poop spiral to the ground.

But no, the poop had landed on the lace parasol and a man in a suit bowed and apologized to her.

"Richard, I want that crow dead." whispered the little girl demurely.

The man in the suit wiped the poop off the parasol respectfully. Then handing the parasol to another man in a suit, he pulled out a rifle and in one shot, brought the crow to the ground.

That was when Bai Jingfei realized that money was power.

If she was pooped on, she had no choice but to roll in the poop. If someone with money was pooped on, they could poop on the one who pooped on them.

Money was the ultimate winner in life. She'd felt like a peasant in front of the little girl in lace, and had thus decided she would be that little girl in lace. A rich boss who could shoot down crows. A crow hunter.

That didn't last very long since it wasn't something she could earn money from, but it left her with valuable life experience. A terror of cliffs and a lust for money.

She turned to stare at Song Yongrui who stood behind her.

If it wasn't for him she wouldn't have come anywhere near the cliff. Love is blind so she hoped she'd be blind when she came to the cliff too.

Unfortunately that hadn't worked.

"Maybe you want to shoot the crow- I mean destroy the cliff?" she whispered. If Sun Mei had been there she would have escaped a while ago but Sun Mei was inspecting the river diversion.

"What are you scared of FeiFei?" whispered Song Yongrui as he snuck up on Bai Jingfei from behind, "Do you need me to help you?"

He rubbed Bai Jingfei's head and comforted her like one would do with a cat. But Bai Jingfei wasn't offended because she truly didn't want to stay on the cliffside.

"Yes please." whispered Bai Jingfei.

This was probably her first time being vulnerable in this new world she was in. She was scared, but she had someone to rely on. She felt comforted and backed away from the cliff.

"Give me the powder and tell me how it works. I'll do it for you. You go sit down under that tree over there." he said, ushering a jianghu member to cover her with a parasol.

She handed the powder over to Song Yongrui. "You just have to ignite it after you throw it down. It should explode and finish all the work."

She was really living her dream. A boss who could destroy things, sitting under a parasol a few meters from a cliff. All she was missing was a rifle and a lace dress.

As the river slowly trickled after being diverted, Bai Jingfei watched as Song Yongrui destroyed the cliffside, albeit from a distance away. She sat under the tree, admiring the beauty of the explosion and one more thing. Or person.

'Ah~ This man truly is so handsome…'
