Kaline woke up and then got dressed before she walked out to have breakfast. But when she walked out and went into the kitchen she didn't see her parents.

"That's weird, they're normally awake by now." she thought.

She made herself some cereal and after she ate she went to her parents' room to see if they were awake. But when she walked in, they were both still sound asleep in their bed. Since she walked to school anyway and didn't want to wake them up, she let them sleep and left a note in the kitchen. She grabbed her backpack and phone but when she opened the door she froze. She saw bodies lying down on the ground and cars slowly moving forward or speeding across the road, and of course there were some that already crashed into each other.

"What the heck is going on?" She thought.

She went back into her house and went to her parents' room. She tried shaking them but they wouldn't wake up, they didn't even move or groan. She started to yell "MOM, DAD" but she only got the same reaction she decided to call 911 but when she called there was no answer. She was confused and called again but there was still no response.

She realized she had no other choice but to go to the police station. So she left the house again, this time she just had her phone. She started to walk down the sidewalk passing and stepping over the bodies of people, sometimes she checked their pulses to make sure they were just sleeping. More than an hour later she finally reached the police station. But when she walked in, everyone was asleep. There were people asleep and handcuffed in the chairs, a cop asleep at the desk, cops on the floor, and prisoners asleep in the cell. She walked into the office and saw a cop lying on the floor and a boy at the computer on the main desk.

"Hey!"

The boy looked up and started to walk over to her.

"You're awake!" the boy exclaimed.

"Yeah and so are you, do you know what's going on?"

"I've been trying to but I haven't really been that lucky in finding anything."

"... No luck in waking anyone up?"

"No, I tried my mom, my brother, and three people on the street, nothing."

She sighed. "Well, it looks like we're in this together, I'm Kaline."

"Leo, it's nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too. So what were you looking at over there?"

"I was looking through this guys social media and the news. And it's pretty weird, come look at this," They went over to the computer and started to look through his social media. "Only two people have posted since this morning."

"That's weird."

"He's friends with over thirty people so there should be a lot more than just two posts."

"Do they have anything in common?"

"They're both outside wearing sunglasses."

"Weird, and what about the news?"

"Nothing, nothing at all, looks like the news crew got under this sleeping spell too."

"... It just doesn't make sense, how are we not affected by this?"

"Maybe we're immune to whatever this is."

"Have you found anything else?"

"No, but I'll keep looking."

"Okay, while you do that I'll go see if I can find anyone else who's awake."

"Alright, I'll be here if you're need me, good luck Kaline."

"Thanks, I'll see you later."

She left the police station and went back out to the street. She started walking around and trying to look for other people who were awake. She had no luck though, everyone she saw was sleeping. She turned to the sound of a car skidding across the road and saw one driving right towards her at what seemed like eighty miles. It was about to hit her when suddenly she got tackled to the ground and the car crashed into a nearby tree. She turned to her side and saw another boy laying next to her.

"Hey…"

"Hi…"

"Thanks for that."

"No problem."

They got up off the ground and she introduced herself, "I'm Kaline."

"I'm Jordan."

"Nice to meet you."

"I'm actually surprised to see you awake. I thought I was alone."

"You're not the only one."

"KALINE!"

They turned and saw Leo running toward them.

"Hey Leo."

"I heard a crash, I thought you got hit or something."

"No I'm fine, Jordan here saved me."

"Hey," said Jordan.

"Hi I'm Leo."

"Cool, nice to meet you."

"You too."

"HELP!" a girl screamed.

"What the?"

"Where'd that come from?"

"Come on let's go."

They all started running towards where they could hear the screams. They kept running

and running towards them. They kept getting louder and louder and knots were in her stomach the whole time. But suddenly the screams stopped and they all froze.

"Oh no…" Kaline sighed.

They started to think that the girl either got knocked out or worse, and even if that did happen, they couldn't hear the voice, so they couldn't follow anything. Until suddenly Leo started running again.

"LEO WHERE'RE YOU GOING?"

He didn't say anything he just kept running and didn't look back. Jordan and Kaline started running after him and two minutes later they saw him standing over a girl on the ground.

"Leo you found her."

"... I know this girl, she goes to my school."

"... Is she..." Jordan could hardly finish his sentence before Leo sighed.

"I don't know I haven't checked."

Jordan walked over to her and checked her pulse, "... she's alive." They sighed in relief. "She must be really important to you Le."

"Yeah... kinda..."

"Come on, let's take her with us." Kaline suggested.

"Alright then." Jordan slowly picked her up off the ground.

"You sure you can carry her all the way to the police station?"

"I might stop a few times, but I'll be fine."

"Okay."
