6 Living A Normal Life Part 2

To put it bluntly I am from another world. By accident I died and went to this world. It's been many years and I already forgot my real name. But, it's alright after all I've already got a new name. Artegis Bell that's the name my new father gave me. I'm glad I have a loving family in this world and many friend. After all abuse in my previous world I want to make this world into a peaceful utopia for my own sake.

Biology & Magic Class

Biology, bio and logos. Just hearing the name makes me nostalgic. In my previous world I'm a highschool graduate and biology is not my strong point but I've still remember some biology lesson I learned after all I yearned for university.

" Before you learn magic you should know first what is magic. Magic is a manipulation of natural law using the Mana in the air and certain thing produce by mitochondria"

Professor Fradulein the prodigious professor. Bad fashion choice, sleepy eyes, and unkempt hair seems to be his idea of ideal professor appearance.

"Professor I have a question"

"Yes Treicy"

And that's Treicy my best friend in this world. Apparently since he's a commoner his mother doesn't bother to give him a surname. So his name is just Treicy.

"Mitochondria you just mention is the same mitochondria that produce energy by consuming glucose right? Then what is the connection between that and

magic?"

"Well yes the mitochondria I just mentioned is the very same mitochondria that produce energy. But, then we must ask ourselves how much do we know about energy"

"What do you mean professor?"

"Everyone open your biology book the one written by Sherwood and please see page 236 in the cell section"

"There you can see the illustration of mitochondria although it's a bit blurry because of limited optical spell capability. What's really important is the graph beside the illustration. I want you all to observe it and make a conclusion from the data presented in the graph. I'll give you 20 minutes to write an essay about the connection of mitochondria and magic"

What! 20 minutes to write an essay about something you hardly explain, this is ridiculous!! I know this world has bad political system but I never know it also has bad education system.

"Oh yeah one more thing. While you write I will take a nap in school yard. Anyone who make wrong conclusion will get zero for disturbing my sleep"

And just like that my school life has started. Okay Artegis focus. Just like normal school you only need to decipher the meaning of the graph.

Let's see. In this graph there are 2 written names here warrior and mage. No other name was written. The warrior is represented by red line while the mage is represented by blue line. Now let's see the graph. The warrior red line goes up while the mage blue line goes down. But, in the middle of it the blue line disappear while the red line still goes up. Is it printing error? I wonder. The red line still continue to goes up while the blue line, huh? It turned into a purple line? And the purple line suddenly goes up faster than the red line? What does it mean. Think Artegis! Think! Damnit! Everyone seems to know what to write. Okay Artegis calm down take a deep breath and let's do it slowly.

Let's simplified it first. From the explanation by Professor Fradulein and explanation from this book I can conclude that the graph has something to do with mitochondria. Mitochondria produce energy so this graph must have some correlation with that. Now here is the tricky part. The blue line represent mage while the red line represent warrior. By combining those fact I guess the answer must have something to do with energy and the difference between warrior and mage. The difference...there are to many differences!

"Artegis you seem confused do you need help?"

"Thanks Treicy but I will answer this question with my own effort"

"Don't push yourself after all we're just a mage"

He worried about me? Then he must have finished the essay. Come to think of it, everyone from this school is a mage including Treicy that's why they're smarter than your average person. But, they have frail body because of something. Wait that's it! I know the answer! I understand the graph! Thanks for the clue Treicy.

20 minutes has passed. Professor Fradulein came back and he called us one by one. He hardly looked at the student and all he did is just announcing whether we failed or passed. Half the class failed most of them are commoner but fortunately Treicy passed. As expected most of the noble passed since they have better preschool education. And then the professor called me.

"Artegis Bell!"

This time Professor Fradulein give his attention to me. He looked at me seriously and then show me my papper.

"Poor vocabulary. Bad handwriting. If it's any other class you will get failed for this trash you called essay"

"Then am I failed professor?"

"Don't be so hasty. I said any other class but not this one. You see your handwriting might be sloppy and make reading your essay comparable to torture but what's important is the content. Artegis you passed with the highest grade"

What did he say? I passed? Yes! It's a miracle!

"That's impossible a commoner like him shouldn't know anything about the fact that mitochondria produce magic energy!!"

Some noble seems angry because of it. But Professor Fradulein stern face doesn't change. He just said.

"Let me explain. Not only he comes to the same conclusion as you but he also understand one important thing"

"And what is that?"

"The limit of mage. It's a common misconception that mage are superior to warrior since most nobles are in fact mage. But, as Artegis mention in this essay from looking at the graph the part where the blue line disappeared and turn into purple line has significant importance. Most of you including the noble just assume it as production mistake. Artegis write that the disappearing line is in fact the time mage cast spell and the purple line is the mage casting physical enchantment on himself thus making the line color the combination between red and blue. But most important is his conclusion. He conclude the fact that the purple line doesn't start from the beginning means the mage can't continuously cast it, so in short fight mage might be more superior than warrior but in long fight like war warrior is more superior than mage"

They stare in awe at the professor and then at me.

"Artegis tell me how did you come to that conclusion without preschool education?"

"I just use my imagination"

"But that's impossible!"

"Then what do you suggest? That I come from another world and I learn about this before?"

"Hahaha you're right that's impossible. There's no way a commoner like you is from another world"
