33 Becoming A Humble Hero

Alexander was looking at Evelina. 'There is nothing wrong about her. Maybe Alexi is just overreacting, creating another distraction'

"I know what you are thinking, my friend. You don't believe what I am saying at all. I already told you that I have the power to see someone's emotions just by looking at them."

"I still don't believe you, Alexi. If you can see her emotions, why not tell me what is on her mind?"

Alexi was completely bothered by his reasons. 'This man is so stubborn!'

Alexi placed his hand on his head and slowly turned its direction downwards until his forehead, "Why are you so stubborn, Alexander?!"

"What are you even saying? Stop creating any malicious stories about Evelina," he said in an exasperated manner.

"But it really is the truth. I can't read her mind, but I can read her face and demeanor."

"Alright then. Now, tell me what you see on her."

"She needs help, Alexander."

Alexander gave him a smug smile, "Why does she even need help? We are here watching over her for her safety."

"Do you even call yourself a gentleman? Would you look at what you are saying right now?"

Alexander couldn't understand him. "I am helping her by not assisting her. It would make her more independent. There might be a time that I will not be there for her," he said, as he glanced at him.

Alexi suddenly grabbed his nape like a monkey, "Oh… you seem so serious and determined that she is doing a great job."

He sighed in relief, "I know. Just let her be."

"How confident. Tell me, is she going to make it?" He said while stroking his chin.

"I believe in her. I believe that she will make it. "

"Hmm... do you really think so? How sure are you?"

"She is a good girl. She has been disciplined and well-trained by her family right from the start, " he crossed his arms, looking at Evelina.

"Fine. She is your wife after all. You believe in her no matter what, "

"Of course. Isn't that what a husband should do? To watch over his wife and support her no matter what happens."

"And do you call yourself a good husband? You are not even helping her at all. You are just standing here beside me, having a lengthy conversation with me."

He was finally full of his words, causing him rage, "Alexi!! How many times do I have to repeat this?" he said in a well-composed manner

"I want her to believe in herself, not depending on me. What if the two of us are not there? How can she survive the world of wilderness? We have to make her get used to an environment that is only her alone."

"I see. It is notable that she has to undergo this. I get your point."

"You see, Evelina is such a unique lady. At first, you thought that she was a well-composed and posh, but she is actually stubborn and a stupid woman, " he said.

"Well, well, well... what do we have here?" All of a sudden, Evelina barged into the conversation.

Evelina just finished doing her stretching. Sweats dripping from her forehead were directed downwards. Her skin glistened as the sweat highlighted her healthy fair porcelain skin.

"Are you guys deaf? Well, I'm sweating and in need of a towel."

"Do you have some towel in here, Alexi?"

"Yes, I do."

"Where is it?"

Alexi pointed it to the left of them; it was a wall, there was nothing but the view of the city lights and the neighborhood; the cabinet was camouflaged but there was a particular handle that was visible if you went near towards it.

Evelina was relieved as she heard his response, "Alright… thanks," she said.

In an instant, Evelina approached the particular place that Alexi pointed at; it was a few meters away. She then saw a handle. She grasped the handle and pulled it. Inside of the cabinet was embellished with black and nothing more. It fully occupied with white towels that were perfectly essential to athletes.

"Whoah…" she turned her head to face Alexi, "Do you use these towels? Do you work out a lot?"

Alexi scowled, feeling insulted, "Yes, can't you see my abdominal muscles? My muscles are definite proof that I actively work out and strengthen my endurance," he boasted.

Evelina rolled her eyes, not looking at him, "What do you do when you work out here? There is nothing to play with except the serene view. If I were you, I would just do nothing and sleep all day long!"

Alexander nodded as he agreed the thought, "Yes, you are definitely correct, dear," he paused, "Alexi, what do you even do here? There are no weights and dumbbells that I see here."

He grinned, laughing out loud, "True warriors do not need those. Back in the old days, do you know why almost all men have muscled bodies?"

Evelina tilted her head to the side, she wondered, "Because there are lots of beautiful ladies back then that men would do anything just to impress them with their muscled body."

Alexander curved the corner of his lips into a smile, silently laughing while masking his mouth

Alexander clicked his tongue, "You really are something, Evelina."

"What?! As far as what I have observed in the modern world, women have a habit of searching for men not just by the looks, but their incredibly athletic bodies," Evelina answered in a straightforward manner.

"Well… you are indeed correct with that, Evelina. But the thing is… it is because of hard work and the use of primitive technology."

Alexander nodded in agreement, "Yes, I agree with you, Alexi. There are fossils that are evident in today's modern innovation. Back in the days, men were athletically inclined and had drastic work on their shoulders."

"Oh."

"What is wrong with you, Evelina? I really thought that you were a straight-A student."

"You, meanie… I am not what you think! Hmph!!" she glared at him, as she stomped her feet.

"HAHAHAHAHA!! You are just guilty of the fact that you have a low intelligence quotient and very high emotional quotient," he laughed so loud that both his hands were on his abdomen.

Evelina continued to glare at him, not liking his statement. "Live a life, Alexi!"

"Oh, says the one who just said earlier that she wanted to focus yet her mind was preoccupied with her husband, Alexander… HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!,"

She crossed her arms while her eyebrows frowned, "Stop bullying me, Alexi. I don't like it," she resumed, "Dear, don't believe what he was uttering you."

"Evelina, have you forgotten that I'm an immortal? I can read your face!"

Her eyes widened yet she was still in her calm and serene demeanor, "So what? What if I got a botched cosmetic surgery and my face looks like smiling all the time?"

He sniggered, "You are unbelievable!"

She glanced at Alexander, "So what? Do you believe him, Alexander?"

"My powers are not fake!"

"And so… can it withstand longer? Is it durable enough?"

Alexander raised his eyebrow, "Evelina, not all powers are working as a renewable source of energy. If you are sick, will you be able to release such immense power? No, because it all depends on your strength," he finally opened up.

"That's right and that is why you need training."

"Yes, I know, Alexi."

Then all of a sudden, a thought appeared to her mind.

"So…am I going to do stretching all day? What do I have to do in this empty training quad of mine?"

"Of course not! You, young lady, have to experience and suffer the circumstances of what real heroes do!" he said in a loud commanding voice.

She moved her head to the side, "I am extremely aware of that, Alexi," she nonchalantly replied.

"What are you even uttering about! Give me a reply about what a humble hero should be!"

"Okay."

Alexander grabbed both of her shoulders, "Stop it my dear wife. You better have to follow his commands because it will definitely be a huge help on your journey."

"Alexander, you are so naïve! Don't spoil her too much, you are too soft on her!"

Evelina gave a smug smile at Alexi, signaling him a defeat, however, Alexi would never dare to give up

Alexander was walking towards the center of the room, "Well, well, Evelina, I'm telling you that a true hero should be humble and also must act humble."

"I'm already humble."

The face of Alexi was unveiling a façade of frustration, "Wrong, dearie. You don't even sound like you are humble at all," he rebuked her.

"Dear, I really think that you are really wrong. You have to be corrected from your mistakes. Weren't you taught by your teacher in etiquette class?"

"Um… yes."

"Alright then. Don't ever boast and speak bad things ever again. It is tainting your sweet lips and your mouth," he said while he was nuzzling her hair.

"…" Alexi was once again speechless. He was at loss 'Why is Evelina so obedient and meek when it comes to Alexander? Am I not existing? Sighs, Give me a break'
