3 I Need a System

"I still think I'll choose my first ability first," Prol says abruptly. "I want a server selection button in this interface, that lets me choose worlds and universes I've been in before. Use my selection points."

"Well. Okay. About 20% of your free points. You'll still have to pay points to find worlds to add, unless you want to accept completely random worlds."

It appeared exactly as Prol imagined it, on the middle monitor. Of course, the only option was 'Earth', which he obviously was never selecting again. Unless, of course, No Game No Life season two came out. Then it might be worth it.

"Oh, add some character creation options," Prol adds, and a moment later it's done.

Prol selects Male as the gender, and inserts his name, before locking both options. He watched his points go down to 60% when he did so, but locking, as he imagined, would persist through reincarnations.

Naturally, the Race and Class sections of the menu were completely empty, as he hadn't selected a world.

"Now, I want a nice fantasy world, with magic. Just, none of that crazy magic that hardly makes any sense. Psuedo cultivation magic, really," Prol specifies.

"Alright, but, there's still several worlds and universes within this. Any more specifications?"

"No, I think I'm good," Prol replies.

After a moment, the world list updates with a random one.

World Name: Astria Type: Fantasy Specifications: Cultivation-Like Magic

Obviously, Prol selected it. "That's all I know? No further information?" Prol questions.

"Well, you can find out more, but you'll have to use points," the voice replies. "Naturally, if you reincarnate into it again, you'll already have this information."

Prol looked at his points, and he still had 50% of the ones for world selection, plus 100% of the ones for normal alterations.

"Alright, well, I'll think about it. Mm..This is a magic world, but I don't really know anything about it. It's probably possible that sickness is a problem. Put the rest of my points into an immunity to disease and poison. There's nothing interesting about dying as a baby," Prol decides.

"Put 20% of my points into self control. I want to be able to alter my body over time, choose how I grow, and be able to toggle any of my other passives at will. For example, I should be able to control my own regeneration to regrow limbs," Prol says after a moment of thought. Now, he only had about 75% of his main points remaining.

The voice had stopped saying anything. Who knew why. Perhaps, he'd rather just finish this process sooner than latter.

"Now, I need a system," Prol says to himself.

"That's a good idea," says the voice.

"Yeah, it'll be boring if I don't make up some rules. Every life I'll choose some sort of theme, and live based upon it. This one I'll let be mostly random, and hope my luck is good. I think my first reincarnation I'll go with the hidden power theme. The most important aspect of this, of course, is to have complete understanding of everything you see. So I'll work on some abilities first," Prol says.

"Wait, I thought you meant a System as in-" the voice starts in a startled tone.

"Put 20% into programming, which should adapt to the world. In this case, magic programming, obviously. I want to be able to write heads up displays, control automation of my abilities, and do advanced scripting-type activities with ease. I should also automatically understand how to integrate it with whatever I am or have been, along with abilities I have. This should come with network and domain type abilities, as well as an Inspect ability," Prol says. Fortunately, this was aided by his intent and imagination, or it'd be a very long talk.

"Wouldn't it be easier to just-" the voice tries again, sounding a bit exasperated.

"Then put 20% into Devour magic. I want the ability to eat absolutely anything, and turn it into additional energy and power. There should be no waste byproducts as a result, when working at full capacity."

"Why on earth would you-" the voice says after a moment's delay.

"10% into spacetime dimensional magic, and another 10% into soul magic," Prol finishes.

"That's quite a bit for just-" the voice tries to explain.

"Then I want the remaining 20% in a research passive. It should be able to analyze, simulate, and deduce information, allowing me to develop new uses and abilities over time. Likewise, to understand abilities or manuals and possibly improve them. I suppose this comes with a perfect memory, so I don't waste time reading things repeatedly," Prol finishes.

"Alright, that'll do. Let's go," Prol orders, and a moment later, he finds himself in complete darkness.

'Ah, fuck, I started in the womb, didn't I?' Prol laments. He should have expected something like this. Then again, it could just be another loading animation, for all he knew.

Still, he should have his abilities now. Since his programming ability was at a soul level, his programs should persist between worlds. Well, he'd imagined it that way, so it would. Regardless, he had to do something with his free time.

With a thought, he pulls up a programming interface. It didn't inherently use code, even though he knew how to program. He could write code, of course, but it was a bit more than that. For starters, he didn't have vision, so an overlay wouldn't make any sense. That'd obscure his vision, anyway.

He quickly designed a basic interface. For the most part, it just required him to imagine it, and it was done- at least on the interface side. As for what everything did on the backend, it was slightly more complicated, as he had to actually write that.

For example, he wrote the inspect function to call based on intent, and for it to automatically analyze everything near him in a passive manner. That way he'd be able to analyze things even in his memories. All of this information was in his mind, but in the sense that it was saved. Unless he intended to think about it, he wouldn't particularly be aware he knew it. As such, he wouldn't have to see things he didn't want to see just because of a passive, and his mind wouldn't be distracted constantly. As an added benefit, the research ability would still be able to use this information to its benefit.

He also added an interface for his [Self Control] ability, and put for his body to grow attractive, sturdy, strong, and flexible. Prol absolutely wanted to be good at martial arts in his new life, after all. It'd help if he looked good. Attractive kids gained all sorts of benefits. Perhaps some passing old man would make him his disciple?

He also added an interface clock, which worked based off of his body's internal clock. Hopefully it would be pretty accurate, but, it was based off of his first moment in this body, since he didn't know the real time.

He'd also started his research ability on looking into making an inventory, and designed interfaces for each. The progress didn't seem to be moving, though. Presumably, because he had nothing to work with.
