1 Chapter one. City.

<p>"It looks like is time for me to leave Mama." Hannah told her mother who had a sullen face, after she saw the bus she had been waiting for the past five minutes. <br/><br/>"Okay dear take care." Caren had no choice but to late her daughter go.<br/> <br/> "I'll l do Mama."<br/> <br/>"Just like we talked last night." Caren reminded and Hannah nodded.<br/> <br/>"Good bye Mama." She said with a hug then went to the bus which was waiting for her now.<br/><br/>Before she entered the bus she looked at her mother again for a few seconds then entered. It didn't take long before the bus arrived in city.<br/><br/>The city was big just like she had imagined, it had many people who were just minding their own businesses. It had various types of cars which were rear back in her village. As she was walking she saw a sign of hospital, she decided to check if she can find any kind of job there. To her disappointed she didn't find.<br/><br/>It had been four hours now but she still didn't manage to get any job at all, Furthermore, she was already tired and also famished, She has tried on the restaurants, Hospitals, small hotels in supermarkets but she didn't find any. Now she was sitting on a bench wondering where she will go or sleep if she didn't find a place to stay. But now she needed to eat if she didn't eat in the next couple of minutes she will surely die of hugger and she didn't have any money to afford the food expect for twenty shillings she had.<br/><br/>Some hours ago she asked how much was water inside a restaurant and she almost fainted when she was told water was hundred shillings, from that small bottle, she didn't dare ask for anything again she knew that place wasn't for her.<br/><br/>After sometime she spotted someone making Mandazi not far away from where she was sitting, she decided to go and ask how much it costs and if she can't afford she will ask her to give her one. Last night she didn't eat well and she didn't know why? In the morning also the same thing happened even though her mother told her to fill her stomach so that she will not starve, she tried her best but she couldn't eat much, her mother also told her to carry some cassava that she will eat on her way but she refused since it was hard for her to eat she doubted if she will even eat them, now she was regretting.<br/><br/>As she was crossing the road a car almost hit her and she didn't know weather she was slow or the car was moving rapidly. It terrified her and she suddenly remembered her mother and her warnings. She was frozen on the road which cause the person who was driving to come out.<br/><br/>"Hey, are you okay?" He had to ask again because the lady didn't respond.<br/><br/> "Ye..yes I am okay." She answered then she made an attempt to move but her body didn't allow her, it was like it went numb all of a sudden which cause the man to give her support.<br/> <br/>"You don't look fine how about we go and talk in private place maybe I can help." The old man who seems to be in his late fifties suggested which cause her to remember her mother's warnings again, she wanted to denny but right now she needed help, how to get a job or to eat, In addition, this man looks like he could be trusted.<br/><br/>The old man barely had any hair on his head, he was tall chocolate skin tone and he was wearing black suit with black shoes and on his wrist he was wearing an expensive watch which crossed Hannah's mind that he must be wealthy, When she saw the car the man was driving she was now completely sure that he was rich. A black Mercedes Benz.<br/> <br/>As the car started moving he inquired for her name.<br/><br/>"My name is Hannah Herman sir." She replied.<br/> <br/>"Beautiful name for a beautiful Lady, Hannah Herman, You know your name Hannah reminds me of that woman from the bible, do you know her?" <br/><br/>"Yes sir I know her." She replied with a smile.<br/> <br/>"I bet you must be like her?"<br/><br/> "I don't know sir, maybe my Mama gave me the name with a reason." She replied her smile never fading away.<br/> <br/> "And my name is Joseph Hans, I am a father to three children, I have one wife and I leave here in the city." He said causing Hannah to wonder why he was telling her all of this.<br/><br/>"That's amazing sir." she said not knowing what to answer him.<br/> <br/>"And you? your parents,brother or sister? because I am sure you are not married." He said with a grin which cause Hannah to chuckle.<br/> <br/>"No sir I don't have brother or sister and yes I am not married....she said with a wide grin as if the things he just said was amusing...and my parents I don't know about my father, I have been living with my Mama my whole life." The last sentence she said with sadness.<br/> <br/>Joseph was looking at her through the rear mirror and he saw how her face changed when she mentioned her father is like she was sad she has never met him. <br/><br/>But truth to be told Hannah's had always yawned for the father's love for a very long time, ever since she was in grade one, she had seen both parents coming to take their children together and to her it was always her mother.<br/><br/>Ever since she was a little girl she has been asking her mother, but her mother kept on ignoring her whenever she brings up the topic.<br/><br/> Up until recently she decided to ask her mother again but the answer she got wasn't that pleasing "Your father left even before you were born." She asked why and her mother told her because he didn't want her to be brought into this world. she didn't want her to be born? She was fifteen by then, since that day she never asked about him again. He never wants to meet him, how can you meet someone who didn't want you even before you existed. <br/><br/> After some minutes Joseph pull over his car and parked it in front of a big restaurant. Hannah was perplexed the restaurant was huge then she saw the sign it was saying 'Heavenly Restaurant" Not the restaurants she had visited previously were compared to this, it was magnificent.<br/> <br/>"Hannah..."Joseph had to call her because her eyes was glued around the restaurant probably wondering how big it was.<br/><br/>"Mmmh..<br/> <br/>"Let's go." <br/> <br/>Joseph directed her on one of the chairs outside. They didn't get inside.<br/><br/> "It looks like it's your first time in the city?" He asked.<br/> <br/>"Yes sir it is my first time." She answered while looking down.<br/> <br/>Joseph figured it out the first time he saw her with that Nigerian bag she was carrying. "So what brought you to the city?" He asked but he didn't get an answer because the lady was now looking at someone who was eating chicken and rice and she was salivating.<br/><br/>"Sir can I have that I am really starving." She said without hiding the hunger she had.<br/> <br/>Immediately Joseph called the waiter and the food was brought to her. When the food was brought she dive right in without waiting for any warnings.<br/><br/>Joseph didn't eat he only had water, he had already eaten before he left the office, As Hannah was eating he couldn't help but stare at her. After sometime she was done.<br/><br/>"Are you good now?" Joseph asked and he got a slight nod from her.<br/><br/> "As I was asking what brought here in the city?" <br/> <br/>"I came here to look for work sir...She answered... any kind of work, cook, wash, mop,just any" She added hoping that he had kind of work for her.<br/><br/> "Any?" Joseph inquired and Hannah nodded.<br/> <br/> "I think you got yourself a job Hannah." <br/> <br/> "Re.. really sir." She stammered unable to believe it.<br/> <br/>"I really got a job he asked as tears of Joy rolled down her cheeks. If she had a phone she could call her mother and tell her the good news.<br/><br/>After that Joseph paid for the food and they left the restaurant. Hannah was staring outside the window she couldn't help but admire the city it was really beautiful. Now she believe that Sally her best friend was telling her the truth she got the idea of coming to the city from her. Sally one day told her that she visited her sister who works in the city and she couldn't help but admire it she wanted to live there forever but she couldn't.<br/><br/>Sally told her that her sister took her to various places. Then she asked her what do your sister do in the city and Sally told her she owns a job on restaurant and she is helping me with my school fees. From that day this idea has been on her head, now she has a job and she will be able to make her dream come true, Moreover she will be able to change the life of her mother completely.<br/> <br/>Hannah was brought back from her daze with a hoot of the car and it was the one she was in. She look outside and he saw gate being opened by a man who seems to be in his early twenties.<br/><br/> It was black gigantic gate she had never seen, the fence was fenced beautifully. The house that welcomed her was those houses she had only seen on movies it was gigantic she looked around and everything mesmerized her, She likes everything her eyes was seeing.<br/><br/>Once again Joseph had to wake her from the dream. "Hannah let's go." he said and she obeyed still looking around and smiling like an idiot.<br/><br/>The chandeliers, the sofa sets,the television everything was mesmerizing.<br/><br/>She was still looking around when suddenly her eye caught on someone coming from upstairs, He was wearing grey shorts matching it with a blue vest together with grey slippers, she didn't know what was happening but he couldn't tear her eyes from him as he walks gracefully from upstairs until where they were standing.<br/><br/>He was not that tall and he was not short either he was in a medium size he was built and his hair was shaved perfectly.<br/> <br/>"Hallo Father." He greeted with a hug.<br/> <br/> "Hallo Son." Joseph greeted then turned to Hannah.<br/> <br/> "Hannah meet my eldest son Trevin, and Trevin meet Hannah." Joseph introduced. Hannah elongated her hands to shake with Trevin. Trevin look at her hands for a short while before shaking it.<br/> <br/>"Nice to meet you Trevin." Hannah said with a friendly smile she didn't know what was happening to her but she already like him he was perfect, Mr perfect she conclude in her her head. <br/> <br/> "Trevin where are the others?" Joseph asked inspecting around.<br/><br/> Trevin was about to answer when suddenly a woman pooped out of nowhere and she guessed that must be his wife, Hannah saw as a motherly figure.<br/><br/>"Hannah this is my wife Rachel." Joseph introduced as wrapped his hands around her.<br/><br/>"Hallo Dear, how are you?" Rachel greeted.<br/><br/> "Hallo, I am fine." He greeted with respect that she deserves.<br/><br/> A pretty girl again emerged in a stunning dress, she was wearing a red dress that reached her thigh matching them with black heels with a black handbag her lips were painted red. Hannah couldn't help but admire her beauty. Judging her by her hight Hannah guessed they were the same age.<br/><br/>"Hallo daddy." She greeted her dad with a hug.<br/><br/>"Hallo darling, are you going out?"<br/> <br/>"Yes dad I am going out with some friends."<br/><br/>"Hannah meet my last born Stephanie." <br/><br/>Stephanie smiled then shake her hand. "Hallo Hannah welcome to our humble home, right now I am in hurry how about we catch up later when I get back."
