The Interview

Anxi meekly walked into the elevator along with him and watched the elevator door close in front of her.

She could feel her heart pound repeatedly as she stood beside him, watching his beautiful slender finger press the button which led to the 20th floor.

She stole a quick glance at him and his expression remained unreadable and stoic, but those looks were a killer.

Is he even human to possess such looks?

She patted her chest to calm her racing heart and only then did Xander turn his attention to her.

The fact he had this little effect on her really intrigued him but he remained composed and didn't utter a single word to her.

The elevator door opened afterwards and Xander was the first to step out, Anxi just followed suit and watched as every worker politely bowed to greet him without raising their heads up.

It was enough to demonstrate how much power and authority he had in this place, possibly even more on the outside.

Anxi nibbled on her bottom lips feeling anxious than ever, gosh Lord help her with this interview.

He walked into an office which was bigger than the rest, Anxi followed him in and randomly counted numbers in her head to calm her nerves.

Xander relaxed on his winged chair in his spacious office, his office was obviously the most beautiful and surrounded by glass walls, there was a chaise lounge at the end of the neat room and they were both bathed in the warm blue light in his office.

"Take a seat." He said to the absent-minded Anxi who met his gaze.

"S... sorry, of course." She sat on a chair facing him, there was a glass table in the middle which separated them. Anxi kept her gaze lowered, he hadn't even started yet and she was already feeling intimidated.

Her palms were sweating, regardless of the fact the AC was turned on.

"Relax." His magnetic deep voice swayed her away from her thoughts, only to meet those crystal black eyes and realize he had been staring at her all this time. She didn't know why but he felt familiar for some reason.

"The more nervous you get, the lower your chances of getting a job here, so I'm going to give you a few minutes to gather yourself."

Anxi nodded her head gratefully at him and took a deep breath, she was indeed ready before she came here but after witnessing the tension surrounding this place, her positive mindset was instantly clouded by negativity.

Everyone was so good at their job she felt challenged already.

Not only that, the man before her had an overbearing aura that made her feel even more intimidated, like she just stepped into a judgment room and was about to be interrogated.

Xander on the other hand was studying her closely, she was nervous, he could tell and it was normal to feel nervous around him and most of all the company itself, you need to be extraordinary to work here but he could tell she would do a great job in his business.

"Shall we start?" He asked after a few minutes, Anxi felt she's gathered enough courage and nodded her head in response.

"Yes."

"What are your reasons for wanting to work in my company as my secretary?"

Anxi took a deep breath and composed herself immediately. "Well the most important reason is money, I need money to cater for myself and family, lazing around won't pay my house rent, shelter me and bring food to my table so those are the major reasons."

He nodded to her words. "Where are your credentials?"

Anxi hastily brought it out of her bag, well they weren't technically her's, it was a miracle she found them while searching through the cupboard for some necessary files she might need and the previous Anxi's memories did help in locating more credentials, all she had to do was pile them up together.

She handed it to the handsome being and watched as his feminine lashes raked over the credentials, her heart was far from a Marathon sprint.

"You were a writer for the WBC company?"

Xander added while Anxi tried not to cringe from it, she was hoping he wouldn't bring up the topic but guessed she was bound to reply.

"Yes."

"Why did you quit?"

He didn't fail to notice her hesitation but she forced a smile and jabbed her fingers together to still her nervousness.

"I realized working for the WBC wasn't for me so I quit."

He nodded in response to her word, he certainly would have taken the discussion further but he'll have more time to understand her better. There wasn't any need to rush things.

He questioned her further on a few related work issues which she calmly replied to and although impressed, he refused to show it and that's what got Anxi more anxious.

"Am I...am I hired?"

He remained silent for a while, as if contemplating the fact on whether it would be wise to accept her or not and it made Anxi feel even more nervous.

"It's not necessary to hire me as your secretary, I don't mind being the cleaning agent, I just need a job."

"I'm not looking for a cleaning agent, Miss Anxi." He blatantly replied with a raised eyebrow while Anxi remained quiet, so far so good her credentials seem suitable and alright, her experience in various companies could boost her here too so it's a win-win situation.

"Yes, you're hired."

Anxi's eyes dilated momentarily at his words like she just heard the unbelievable, she's hired??

"I'm hired?"

"Yes miss Anxi, congratulations."

She grinned from ear to ear at the news looking even more adorable. It made Xander's heart skip a beat, which was weird because he didn't have one.

"Thank you so much, I'll do my best and won't let you down!"

Xander raised a brow at her but his expression remained unreadable while Anxi was starting to think she might have rejoiced a little too soon.

"From now on, you'll be incharge of documenting any financial information sent to this company, you'll also be maintaining the company's schedule and organizing documents and other files. You can ask for help from my assistant if it gets confusing for you, I'll introduce you to him."

Anxi nodded politely to every word he said, unable to dismiss the smile lingering on her lips. "I'll try my best to adhere to them."

"Not only that, your loyalty to this company is what matters most, nothing more than that." Her loyalty to the company includes being loyal to him and being loyal to him includes so many ways she'll get to experience soon enough.

"Of course, am I free to leave?"

He nodded while keeping his gaze locked on the file, Anxi got to her feet and was ready to leave.

"One more thing, miss Anxi." His deep voice made her stop in her tracks, that imperturbable, yet pleasing voice had such a massive effect on her but she composed herself, turning around to look at him.

"I don't fancy tardiness and will certainly not be taken lightly, by 7:30 I expect you to be at your office which is just adjacent to mine."

Anxi did see the office on her way here and nodded in response before finally taking her leave.

Only then did Xander drop his guard and a slow smile formed on his lips.
