Prologue

Shi Mei's friends would be crying in laughter when they found out how she had died. The Immortal was taking a quiet stroll through her home. As she passed her garden, which was full of spiritual fruits and other delicacies, she had seen a meteor falling from the sky. Thinking it may be some treasure, she followed it trail deep into the mountains where it had come to rest.

As Shi Mei approached the steaming rock, she surrounded herself with a layer of protective spiritual energy. After all, one can never be to careful. It turned out that the meteor was actually a Godflame Dragon's egg, which was wonderful news for Shi Mei.

In her excitement, she rushed over to the egg and bound it to her. Little did she know, the egg had completely rejected her and killed the Immortal with its backlash. Although she was a bit sad at dying, she accepted this fact and waited her turn for reincarnation.

Due to her previously supreme status as one of the universe's most powerful beings, she had a lot of connections which had allowed her to skip right to the front of the line. Shi Mei gave her farewells to her closest friends who were hysterical over the event which had come to pass before she walked up to the old Grandma who handed her a cup.

"See you later, old friend." Shi Mei bowed to the lady in respect before taking the cup. Just as she placed the cup to her lips, a whirlpool appeared out of nowhere and sucked her up. The cup fell to the ground, its contents falling to the ground. The old granny stared with a deep profoundness in her eyes as Shi Mei's friends stared incredulous.

"What happened?" They asked. Normally, people didn't have the right to summon a soul who was literally about to drink the elixir.

The old granny raised her hand and the cup flew to it. She wore a mysterious smirk which quickly disappeared as she coldly said the phrase she has been saying for far too long: "Next!"

A faint chanting entered Shi Mei's ears as her ghostly senses returned to her. She surveyed her new surroundings with interest and found herself to be in the middle of a battlefield. Humans, elves, ogres, ect were spilling out all types of spells, using all types of different weapons. Frankly, in her eyes, the majority were babies when it came to weaponry while a select few were barely satisfactory for a child.

"What the..." She was in complete shock. However, her train of thought was interrupted by the sound of the chanting stopping with a few foul words.

"Why isn't this ghost I summoned f*cking fighting? Fight you boso, fight!" Shi Mei glanced at the one who spoke to her so before she began to float up like none of this was her business. "Damn it! I'm gonna report this to the developers."

Developers? Shi Mei floated down. "Hey girl! Tell me where I am."

The Immortal saw shock in the girl's eyes. "I-If you fight the other team, I will tell you."

Shi Mei loomed closer until they were close enough to touch. "You are not the one who needs to make demands of me." She searched the battlefield and rested her eyes upon a strong-looking swordsman and pointed at him. "See him?" The girl nodded as she followed the guiding finger. "Watch carefully."

Shi Mei gathered some power and directly attacked the soul of the young man, just enough to make him pass out and not die. She heard the girl take in a breath. "Instant death! I struck gold with my latest summon!"

"Now girl, answer me, or else." Shi Mei threatened. She needed to have a grasp on what was going on here. She couldn't wonder around clueless.

"You need to win the fight." Stated the girl. This made the Immortal quite angry, furious really. The "uncouth" girl before her had no idea who was in front of her, did she? It is all well because she will soon learn very well what Shi Mei is capable of, even in her spiritual form.

Lightning ever so slightly crackled on her ghostly surface as she concentrated to build up as much power as she could. It seemed as though the beings around them had finally taken note of the peculiar necromancer and ghost duo and began to have murderous thoughts, but it was too late. Before the first spell and weapon had reached them, Shi Mei unleashed an encirclement of lightning which had expanded out. Upon hit, people fell to the ground instantly and no one was spared except the duo.

A smirk full of arrogance appeared on Shi Mei's face. "Now..."

[The winner is Scarlet Night Guild!]

Upon the announcement, Shi Mei was confused while the girl beside her jumped up and down in excitement. "Yes, yes, yes! We won!"

[Congratulations! Scarlet Night Guild is now the current champion of...]

"What is this?!" Shi Mei hissed at the girl. However, the girl disregarded her as she continued her victory dance. "Hey! I suggest you stop and answer me." Once again, the proud Immortal was treated like air. "You asked for it. I've warned you and warned you but you never took my word. Die and leave your shell for me to take."

And that was how it all began. How the proud Immortal Shi Mei had died and come back to life as a young, teenage girl. Realizing that she must accept her new life, she took on the name of the body but never forgot anything of her previous.

She found out that Mia Shawl, the name of the body, wasn't really anything special, and neither were any of those other beings. They were all playing a full-dive game, otherwise known as a VR game.

Mia's days as Shi Mei was gone, but a new legend was about to be born. A tragic, yet funny tale of love, betrayal, embarrassment, change, games, cultivation, ect, ect. We all get the point.
