Chapter 29: The Inner World

The smell of lavender drifted just below the surface of his stirring consciousness as Daniel awoke with a groan. Heavily disorientated, he couldn't quite remember how he had got there.

Actually, I can't remember much of anything. Daniel felt like that should have scared him, but it didn't. Not knowing is fairly liberating, he thought to himself as he watched the clouds pass by overhead.

With a regretful sigh, Daniel pulled himself up and looked around. The first thing he noticed was the odd way the clouds seemed to circle around. Something seemed artificial about it.

He filed away that information for later. Daniel had more immediate concerns. He found himself on top of a platform overlooking a vast and endless plain of green grass filled with flowers of every color and combination and a lone tree in the far distance.
