4 Chapter 3: Ballroom Part II

In the background, an orchestra was playing soft music with an array of instruments. I went to stand up in the sidelines of the dance floor to look at all the couples make their way to the middle.

I couldn't stop myself from smiling while look at the swaying couples. It's incredible to be in witness of loving couples staring deeply at each other. They were able not to miss a single step in their waltz during the entire song.

I'm abruptly interrupted from my gaze when I started to feel a deep presence crawl all over me. Someone was staring to so intently at me that it made me shiver with goosebumps on my arms.

Sometimes I forget that I'm in the public eye when I'm always confined in this palace. I have never left my home, it's either in the palace or the gardens.

In a way, it's easy to forget that I'm a princess when I don't receive constant praise or recognition by outsiders. Then I'm rudely awakened from my peace when guests start to stare at me like a rare an exotic animal.

I have contemplated on what they are thinking while they look fixated at me, but I quickly dismissed it. No one stares at someone with good intentions in their mind...

Here I am again in the same dilemma but this time the intensity is making me nervous with unease. I can't identify the exact person that is burning my skin with their intense glare.

I couldn't stand it anymore as I thought, 'I'm really getting tired of this and no one is coming to rescue me, I should just leave since this party blows.'

My speculation must have been correct, no one is willing to approach me because I'm the King's daughter. Even without his presence, he's able to continue to ruin everything for me...

As I turn around, I'm face to face to a man I have never met before, but he seems familiar. I felt stunned by his close proximity while I searched for his eyes. His eyes were a color of moss green, he was certainly a magical elf.

I tried to step back to create distance between us, but at the same time, he steps forward closing the gap. Then the man speaks up as he never diverts his look from my eyes, "Hello Lysandra, do you remember me?"

While I'm looking up at him, I'm surprised to see how handsome the elf was. My head stretched upwards to look at his face, he must be 6 ft tall. His hair is golden blonde and he had high cheekbones.

I stuttered in my reply, "I...uh... tthink so...you seem familiar, but I don't know." He gave me a knowingly side smirk.

"That's okay, Princess. It was a long time ago, you were a child the last time I saw you." I wasn't sure how to reply back to that, he seemed to be in his twenties. Well, sometimes it's hard to identify someone's age because many are immortal.

"Oh, I see...And you are?'
