Chapter 3

"Uh...so all of this is going in your room" I asked from the space I created between the door and the jamb.

He stood in front of his room, his gaze left his plain and bland iPhone.

"Yeah, is there a problem with that?" I pursed my lips and shook my head.

"I just wanted you to ask them to reduce the noise a little, I'm working and I just can't concentrate" his blue eyes burned mine and I couldn't look away, I just couldn't.

"They're done, there won't be any need for that" Simultaneously, three hefty men carried the large wardrobe into his room.

"Okay then, good night" I locked the door shut and pulled off the bath robe, hanging it on the bathroom door.

I wore a night gown that fell to my knees and had two large pockets, very large with the words 'Little Ms. Chatterbox' written on it. It was white everywhere except around the arms with were pink.

I opened my e-mail and groaned when she sent even more mails to reply to.

It seemed like I was the one who owned the company. If I could, I would have gained full access and ownership to the company but I didn't have the guts.

"Done, finally!" I grumbled and on cue, my stomach did the same. I still wasn't used to cooking, Two years ago I still used to enjoy buying food at a canteen rather than cooking and I would do it any day but I haven't exactly found a signature place so I stuck to cooking.

"I did have cereal this morning so I guess rice and stew will have to suffice" I wondered to myself. I walked out of the room and into the kitchen, pulled out the packaged rice and washed it before pouring it into the boiling water on the cooker and adding salt.

My phone chimed and I pulled it out of the pocket of my night gown and sat on the kitchen island.

I still love you

- Sammy

My best guess? He's drunk, its not the first time he's done this so I ignored it and ignored the pang in my chest.

Sammy is 25 and we broke up he 'apparently' couldn't handle a long distance relationship which was a good reason I guess.

Or maybe not.

I pulled out the already blended pepper and beef to made a quick beef sauce.

Eros waked in and sat on a chair the other side of the kitchen island and I smiled.

"Hey" He looked up at me and nodded.

"Have you had dinner?" He tilted his head to the side a little and his inquisitive blue gaze burned the hell out of me.

"No, I haven't"

"Uh...I'm cooking a little something, d-"

"Sure" I raised my eyebrows as he cut me off and went back to tapping his plain ugly ass iPhone.

I wonder why anyone would do that to their phone.

Your phone is like an extension of you, my pouch for example is custom made...okay, I'm totally kidding, a friend made it for me and my name "Aduke" is boldly engraved in gold on the light pink pouch.

"What?" He glared at me, probably noticing my eyes on him and I shook my head.

I finished making dinner and dished the food.

"Here's yours" I handed him a light blue ceramic dish that held food.

"Thanks" I hummed and walked back to the kitchen, poured myself some orange juice and sat on the kitchen island as I ate peacefully until my phone rang. Answering it, I pressed it to my ear.

"I said I fucking Love you!" He slurred loudly and I rolled my eyes.

"Don't do this Samuel, you ended this and we ended on good terms...don't make me regret this friendship" he scoffed over the phone.

"Do you have a boyfriend there?" He asked, irritating to the core

"No"

"Aduke, please come back" I rolled my eyes.

"Talk to me when you're sober" I hung up and shoveled my phone into my pocket.

"What an ass" I muttered and sipped the sweet orange juice that I could never get enough of. Grape juice comes right next to orange juice and then lime and honey juice

"Thank you for dinner" I gasped at the sudden intrusion and turned to Eros who took enough space in the kitchen.

"Fuck" I pressed my palm to my racing heart and nodded at him.

"Its cool" I turned to my food and continued to eat, aware of his blue gaze.

"What?" I frowned, feeling very uncomfortable.

"Tell me about you?" I eyed him skeptically and swallowed my food before drinking from the glass of juice.

"Why?"

"Because I need to know the kind of women I’m living with...especially if she's black" my jaw dropped and his eyes widened a little.

"I didn't mean it like that" I nodded before dropped my plate in the kitchen, I lost my appetite.

"Good night, Mr. Pierce" I dragged my slides along the floor as I walked to my room.

I wasn't hurt, neither was I surprised, only irritated.

I just didn't understand why people judged others based on the quantity of melanin in them.

"Meh" I muttered and entered my room, locking the door shut behind me.

I wrapped a satin scarf around my head, charged my phone and climbed into bed, whispering a quiet prayer and sleep hit me like a truck. I drifted into paradise with a conscious sigh.

"Oh God! Why na!" I groaned as the fried egg dropped from the fork unto my satin white shirt.

I quickly finished eating before running off to my room. I wanted to get to the office early so that I could leave early.

I pulled on a large blue shirt and tucked the ends into the wide mouthed pant trousers.

My phone rang and I groaned as I stared at my dress in the mirror. I'd taken my twists out and put my hair in a simple bun.

"Finally!" I breathed, grabbed my handbag and my phone, bolting out of the house.

I sat in my car and drove out of the neighborhood. The office was only thirty minutes away.
