5 Purge

-Run-

-Keep running-

-Don't stop-

-Never stop-

This was all that went through her head as she ran through the alleys frenziedly. She was aimless, with no direction in sight.

She knew not where she was going, but all that mattered that she keep moving her feet.

Should she hide in a house? Basement? Forest? Basement? Mountains? All these were options, but her mind was in chaos, she could not think straight.

Then she heard a piercing scream of agony. A glance showed a thin man in rags being run through with a white and gold spear.

The culprit was an expressionless man wearing white and gold armor. He had huge white wings that made the winds stir and the spirit restless.

Angels.

When the sky turned white, people stopped to look. But when the sky quite literally began to tear apart, like a rough knife through paper, no one could move. It felt like a miracle, but a calamity at the same time.

It was different from the alien invasion several years ago. Though she was young, she remembered it clearly.

Multi colored lights flooded the sky like the stars all suddenly became closer at the same time.

Then laser fire struck many places at once, presumably at the governments of high authority countries. Leaving only he incompetent to lead the country.

At that time only dread filled people's hearts at the sight of the lights. Now, facing the white sky and terrible scars, there was only listlessness, as a truly mind breaking phenomena opened the sky to a realm far beyond them.

It was from the scars in the sky that an angel emerged, looking every bit as holy and kind as the stories, almost making them overlook the battle gear she wore.

Was she here to save humanity, which had turned on each other after the invaders were repelled?

Only when the other angels, the other tens of hundreds of angels, emerged from the void, donning blades and spears that looked like they could make cuts in the air it passed through, did they realize the angels did not come for the sake of salvation.

At the time of the invasion, it was God's blessing that they gained the ability to level up, and resist the invasion.

But now Heaven itself that proclaimed judgement on them. Who could save them now? The devil?

The army of angels swooped down like a swarm of locusts, here to devastate the harvest that was humanity.

It did not matter to her, she only continued to run amidst the screams of men, women, and children alike.

Then a shadow fell over her. The angel looming over her felt more like a reaper, a shadow of death that made all things dark.

She tripped. She had become distracted for a moment when she saw the angel. Contrary to expectations, the angel had an average face, rather than being devastatingly beautiful or handsome like stories might say.

The angel said nothing as his spear was raised.

Her legs trembled violently. They could not move. Her body wouldn't listen to her. There was already a wet patch beneath her. She closed her eyes in resignation.

*BANG*

"Run!" Her eyes shot open, she saw a middle aged man holding a machete in one hand and a pistol in the other. He had just shot at the angel.

"Father!" This was indeed her father, who had always taken care of her, good times and bad, he never let her down, whether during he alien invasion or when men turned on one another for he sake of experience.

"Get out of here! To the basement! There's a shelter!" The angel he shot began to rise, there was a dent in his chest plate, from where he was shot, but her father chopped down at his neck, severing the angels head. The angels face only showed surprise, as if someone pulled a prank on him.

He grabbed her hand and began to run, her fatigued body forced itself to follow him.

"Guess angels aren't so tough after all, huh?" He smiled reassuringly at her tear stained face. She felt safe, when he suddenly pushed her.

*Shu!*

A spear flew through the sky and pierced her father's torso. Three angels descended from the sky with a gust of wind, clearing the dust. They were every bit as expressionless as the last one.

"Papa!" She screamed, as tears flew out faster than his blood could fall.

"Run! Don't look back! I'll hold them back!" He raised his machete and gun unsteadily, he then threw the gun at her, which she caught instinctively.

"No! Papa! I-I can help!" She cried tearfully.

"Don't worry, I'll be back before you know it. When have I ever lied to you?" He then pushed her back lightly, and she ran.

Tears fell constantly as she turned her back and fled as fast as she could, if only be her father's last request. She could hear the clash of blades from behind her.

"He'll be fine." she told herself constantly. Her father was strong, he was level 23. He never lost. But she could not believe her own words.

She couldn't help but turn her head to look back.

She regretted it instantly.

Her father's back was facing her as 2 spears ran through his body at once. There were now 3 jutting out his body. He turned his trembling head to look at her.

He still wore that smile, when the third angel swung its long sword horizontally.

Her father's head was sent flying through the air.

Her steps faltered as she watched the head land on the concrete with a grotesque splat.

He eyes trembled constantly as her father's head rolled to her feet, which had been frozen to the ground.

She fell to her knees. Her father wore the same smile he showed her every day, like he was only looking at her.

The shadow of an angel fell over her. She did not look at them though, instead embracing the head of her father.

No one cared about her sorrow, as they were too busy being slaughtered by the horde of angels, who swooped down like falcons on prey.

But none of that mattered to her, she just collapsed on the ground, holding her father's head with her eyes closed shut.

She did not notice that the angel's shadow had left her while she passed out from the pain in her heart.
