2 Even God Makes Mistakes

A being that was vaguely humanoid, yet no definite form, and was made of light, stood before the screens of mist, deep in thought.

As he was thinking, a man in a white robe and 6 pairs of large, pure white wings rose from beneath the cloud floor.

"Almighty, is there something of concern?" He fell on one knee smoothly, as if he had done it a thousand times before, and spoke to the being of light humbly.

"Don't be so stiff Michael. When you spend an eternity with someone, formalities and barriers are nothing but smoke. How many times have I told you this?" The being of light scolded Michael in a voice that was neither male nor female, but something in between that seemed to flow straight into one's heart, like a melodious song.

"Yes, Almighty." But he did not drop his humble attitude. He was, after all, the immortal servant of the eternal God. To not serve his lord with respect was simply blasphemy for the likes of Michael and the other angels.

The being of light, who can be confirmed to be God sighed, but did not persist on the matter any longer. They have had the same conversation for many years after all.

"Michael, do you know that planet earth, that was recently invaded?" He finally decided to talk to Michael.

"Yes, Almighty." God did not like to be called 'lord' or 'father' or things like that, he said it sounded too distant. And since they obviously couldn't call him by name, they settled on calling him Almighty, like some superhero.

"And you know how I felt so bad for them that I granted them the blessing if status and leveling?" God spoke like they were friends, Michael did not.

"Yes, Almighty." Though he said the same thing in the same tone every time, Michael was now slightly curious on what God wanted to discuss, as God seemed somewhat bothered.

"Well... that may have been a mistake on my part." The cloud floor automatically rose to form a seat, where God sat down, hunched over, put his elbow on his leg and propped his head up with his arm. A strikingly casual pose.

"Impossible. Almighty doesn't make mistakes." His tone finally changed, and his head shot up. His voice did not rise, but his voice held an irrefutable sternness.

"What are you talking about, Michael? I have thoughts. I have a will. Just like any other intelligent being. And just like any intelligent being, I have ideas. And like all ideas, sometimes they work out and sometimes they don't. Even I make mistakes. You all should know that, since you and the other seraphim have had to clean them up every time." God explained that he made mistakes too, and was not ashamed to admit it. With enough time, all things are worn to dust, even things such as formality, dignity, pride, and shame. With an eternity, God had naturally lost them long ago. He had no idea why Michael was so stubborn though.

"Yes, Almighty." Once again he ignored his advice, but this was nothing new, and God continued.

"So anyway, that was a mistake. It was the first time this happened you know? Usually there would be a ruling class to keep them in check and whatever, but now the authority and those under it have become so close together, that it can barely control them. Thanks to that, with levels, their society collapsed." He sighed again. This was one of the more advanced planets, but it grew differently when so many people had high authority at once. They themselves understood the problem, as they would have make a system to keep each other in check, but with levels, the power balance was broken.

One side grew strong, and destroys another, then the leaderships all gone. They can't run it by themselves. When their leaders subvert their own authority, then the followers do it too. They'll gain strength and fight back.

Now there's no law, no order, and now anyone can do whatever they want as long as they're strong.

The worst part is how they become strong. This civilization has taken over so much land, that there isn't enough animals to level up with. They kill them all before the animals can grow.

So what can they do next? How do they gain experience? Fight the invaders? That's fine, but they're still too weak. So one guy kills another, and there you go, everyone starts doing it.

Okay, so now people are dead, they can fight the invaders, they win, invaders leave, but now what? They don't stop. There's no enemy but each other. They do crazy things for levels.

They got the trick, basically: kill things and get their life force, or experience as they like to call it. There's more to life force than animals, so guess what? People are leveling with poison and fires. They fill oceans and lakes with poison to kill all the fish, and they burn their forests to kill the trees and animals with them. The worst kind of shortcuts.

If this keeps up, humanity will ruin their planet, and destroy everything for the sake of their greed.

*deep breath*

"So there you go. It's pretty obvious that this planet's screwed. And it's pretty much my fault for giving them such a privilege." God wraps up his long winded explanation of humanity's path to self destruction along with their planet for the sake of power.

"I see, and how do you wish to solve this problem, Almighty?" But actually, situations like this have happened before, so Michael grimaced. Even though he knew where was going, he still asked, as only with the word of God can the Legion of Heaven take action.

"What we always do when humanity does this." God sighed. He did not enjoy it, but an intelligent species was bound to be selfish, and put themselves before others. As of now, there was only one way to save the planet.

"Take a Legion Of Heaven, and have them descend upon earth."

"I sentence humanity..."

"To extinction."
