Death Ground

"Hahaha! I am back! Who among our little slaves wants to receive our special collar first?" The crooked man that just came back announced happily

He was pushing a table cart where crude brown collars with something round in the middle area are placed. There are enough of them for every slave to use

"Brother, why don't we put it first to that arrogant guy!" The fatty said while pointing a finger at Rezen's clones

These vile people want to see their slaves fearful and broken but that is something that Rezen never gives to them

He was always cold to everyone, irritating the members of Bloodthirsty Wolves

"Hahaha! Sure, sure! I want to see that slave's face filled with gratitude!"

Just like that, Rezen's fate of being a slave forever was sealed by these vile men. If he didn't plan to escape, he would certainly live a life worst than even death

With that, the two motioned for Rezen to walk forward them and the man silently obeyed

No one found something suspicious about him as his aura was the same as usual. After all, he is a clone from Rezen's past, they naturally are the same

The crooked man grabs one of the slave collars and places it on Rezen's neck quite harshly

"With this, let's see if you can escape our grasp!"

The man pushes the round thing in the slave collar. Its color was originally white but as soon as the slave collar is activated, it would then turn into red

However, to everyone's shock, the collar didn't react at all. Its color did not change indicating that Rezen is not enslaved by the collar

"Bastard! What did you do?! Why is it not working?!" Both the crooked man and fatty was enraged by this development and they threw a punch on Rezen's face

The clone was knocked back from the impact as blood leaks out his nose and it chose to remain silent

The facilitators tried to use the slave collar again but just like the first time, it wasn't working

Their anger rose and they start to beat up Rezen. The collars aren't cheap at all, if one of them got broken, the instructors would have to pay for it. As such, they were furious at Rezen and they started beating him up

The clone knew that if he let himself get beat up like that, its existence would not last long

As such, it tried to dodge to buy more time. However, since it was merely a clone with not much power, it didn't take that long before it cannot endure any more blows

In the end, the clone dissipated into smokes and Rezen cannot be seen anymore

"W-what's that? What happened?!"

"Where did he go?!"

"Oh my god! Did he escape?!"

The slaves were in shock and so were the instructors that felt like they got slapped in the face

Turns out that the reason why the slave collars are not working on Rezen was that it was just a clone!

"That bastard, he dared to escape from us!"

"I'll contact our brothers and have our men search for him if he was still inside the city!"

As the City is in their control, it isn't hard to mobilize some men to search for Rezen and punish or kill him as a warning to those that will try to escape like him

"But what if he is not inside the city anymore?"

"With his speed, he should still be inside unless..."

The two looked at each other before laughing

"Hahaha, does he think he was the first one to think of escaping by pretending to be one of the corpses that would he dispose of?"

"He's stupid, he doesn't even realize that it was only a trap!"

Outside Calwell City was a place with lush greenery. As humans don't have the same dominance in the world just like they use to before monsters appeared, the world healed

More and more forest has appeared. Almost every place that became mostly untouched by humans' modernization has turned into a forest

The truck stops not that far from the city. After all, only in the periphery was it safer with a lesser chance of encountering any monsters

Fortunately, they weren't attacked by any monster until they arrived at their destination

It was a stinky place with piles of bones here and there. The Bloodthirsty Wolves just thew the slave corpses outside the city and let whoever want to eat the corpses eat them

"Brother, let's start dumping the corpses now" the man said as he exited the truck and Rezen nodded his head

The man busied himself by dumping the corpses from the truck and carelessly throwing them outside as if he was merely throwing garbages

His guard was low and when he sensed the danger, it was already too late

As if he was a phantom, Rezen appeared behind the man with a dagger in his hand. Just like what he did on Gar, Rezen also slit this man's throat without the slightest bit of hesitation

Only when he killed him did Rezen heave a sigh of relief. With this, his escape is almost completely over. He just has to travel in this forest and arrive at a different city to start a new life

Just as Rezen was about to run away, he suddenly sensed danger

The familiar sound of shurikens traveling in the air entered his ears and he immediately moved to dodge

However, even then, one of the shurikens still graze his shoulder and his transformation magic was instantly undone

What he learned from the skinny man is only a low-level transformation magic skill, if he were to receive damage, it would automatically be deactivated

"Oh? You manage to dodge that. Not bad" a voice unfamiliar to Rezen commented and he immediately look at the source in alert

"Who are you?" Rezen questioned while raising his guard. He grips the dagger in his right hand tighter than before as he can feel that this man is stronger than others

"Gary Han. The person responsible to assess escapees like you" the man answered with a smile and Rezen raised his brows

"Assess? What do you mean by that?" He asked coldly

"Exactly as it sounds. Not many slaves have the guts and ability to escape. Do you think that you are the first one to try this route? There were others that blend in with the corpses or disguise as one of the ones that will dispose of them"

"My job here is to see how strong you are. Escapees most of the time are really talented and I have the job to capture you. We couldn't let a juicy piece of meat escape from our grasp, right?" Gary explained as Rezen clenched his jaw

Sure enough, escaping wouldn't be easy. To think that this was a mere trap!

Although Rezen has frozen his heart and morality as soon as he arrived in this parallel world, he was still a completely normal person just a month ago

If not for him reading tons of fantasy novels and knowing what could possibly happen base on those plots, he wouldn't be able to reach his current position

He might have thought of a plan but that doesn't mean he is the smartest. Wasn't he still outsmarted and his escape is just a plot for the gang to discover talents?

The feeling of being looked down upon and others trying to control him is horrible and Rezen doesn't want to experience something like this again

To do that, he first has to survive what he thinks would be the most desperate battle in his life yet

With that in mind, Rezen didn't hold back anymore and his aura rose. He gave off a more powerful aura than before and Gary look at him with interest

The man taps the scouter in his ear to check how powerful Rezen was and his eyes glowed

Battle Points: 1,000!

The people back in the slave facility only thought that Rezen has around 300 battle points yet it was actually more than triple of that! How terrifying!

"Interesting, you have such high-level battle points and the gang should have been warier of you. How did you escape?" Gary commented yet no fear can be sensed from him despite knowing just how high Rezen's battle points were

Thinking that it was an abnormal reaction, Rezen also taps his scouter and it immediately scanned Gary's body

Battle Points: 2,000!

A whopping 2,000 battle points! No wonder that Gary is not afraid! His mana and physique were twice as strong as Rezen!

Not to mention, he surely has more fighting experience. Why would he even be afraid of a mana warrior with a mere 1,000 battle points?

"Kid, I'll give you a second chance. Come back with me to the gang and be loyal to us and I wouldn't break your bones to forcefully bring you back"

"With your strength, you surely would be one of the powerful slaves we have and we would treat you better compared to the others!"
