30 Chapter 30 The Intervention

Eventually the time came for Jack to make his way to Xiao's room. Stopping just outside to knock awkwardly with his hands full. Ryan opened the door with a serious look about to say something before realizing the struggle of his friend.

Stepping forward to help Jack inside and settling the snacks they sat down in the living room as the seriousness on both Ryan's and Xiao's faces grew.

Jack confused by their seriousness sat in silence before finally Ryan spoke up.

"Jack both Xiao and I have talked recently and we both made a decision." Ryan said looking at Jack's reaction. Seeing Jack's constant confusion he continued with confidence.

Sliding up in his chair Ryan spoke" Jack you need to get rid of this ability."

Jack sat there with his head down in silence comprehending what his friend just said. The possibility of getting rid of his ability was always a thought he had in the back of his head but actually going through with it was another.

Getting rid of this ability weakened his future when he ignited his divine fire and getting something equally as versatile would probably never happen. Though it has a huge negative the benefits are large as well.

Lifting his head he looked at his two friends seeing that they both agreed with every word said.

Thinking over what to say he said one word "Explain."

Xiao and Ryan looked back and forth between each other realizing that their is hope so they cautiously tried to explain their reasons while probing his reaction.

Xiao started to talk cautiously but soon realized that he talked casually as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

"So Jack we researched online about your ability and considered the future consequences of such and ability." Xiao explained surprising himself with how he was talking. Trying to regain control he threw off this minor spell that seemed to unconsciously affect him.

"This ability once you become a demigod will be unable to be removed as it will integrate with your being. You will no longer be able to talk freely to anyone, relationships will be hard to just maintain let alone forge new ones. I don't want to see my friend grow old alone." Xiao explained to the shock of Jack though he could guess didn't realize that this ability could become permanent.

Divine beings existence constantly change but the possibility for change is way greater than for a god with fixed nature. As Divine beings are entities with constant evolution towards godhood change is constant and can shift their paths almost endlessly.

For gods to shift their path is near impossible without the help of almighty forces.

"Also Jack and Ryan I just was affected by the words of Jack even if he didn't intend for that to happen." Xiao said to the shock of his friends.

"Wha~t." Jack said his voice cracking as he talked shocked.

"Seriously?" Ryan asked because this only adds to their reasons to help Jack remove the ability.

"Yes after Jack said the word explain I started to talk almost like the information I was releasing wasn't sensitive and something to be careful with. I didn't want you Jack to be annoyed at us for persuading you so I want to be cautious though I unconsciously forgot to do that." Xiao explained what happened to him and how Jack unknowingly affected Xiao.

"That is definitely bad but with the ability strengthening in the future my control should increase. It is something that can be worked around." Jack tried to explain how it definitely was something inconvenient but not enough for him to get rid of the ability.

"Also talking to friends and family is important but I think I can find ways to work around it." Jack tried to explain as actual reasons were out of his grasp. Pushing the problems to the future.

Xiao and Ryan looked at each other confirming that they wouldn't give up.

"Jack if you keep this ability I won't partner with you." Ryan said shocking Jack. He never thought that the agreed upon cooperation would be broken by Ryan.

Ryan was extremely loyal and would never do such a thing normally.

"Having a teammate physically unable to communicate with would be extremely hard to work with. With this ability you can do much better solo and won't need my help." Ryan explained his logic keeping a face of nonchalance as if it was normal.

Both Xiao and Ryan observed Jack as he reacted with several different emotions.

"So your saying we won't be partners together." Jack said with his head down looking extremely depressed. As he was planning to partner with Ryan for a few years now and with this sudden change caused by him he was lost.

"If you make the decision to get rid of the ability come to me again otherwise this conversation is over." Ryan said seriously as he stood up and left.

Xiao shocked by this erupt leave followed after. Jack sat on the couch lost in thought about what just happened.

Getting outside Ryan stopped as Xiao walked up next to him. After the door closed behind them Ryan instantly broke down into tears shocking Xiao though quickly understanding that everything was an act just now.

Out of Jack and Ryan the person who was hoping most for this cooperation was Ryan. For him to personally do this hurt him more than it hurt Jack but for his friend's future he did this.

"It will be fine Jack will make the correct decision and come around. You were really strong in there and you will be the reason for Jack's happiness from now on. Without you doing this there was the chance that he wouldn't listen." Xiao tried to cheer Ryan up.

After a few moments of crying Ryan said a few words to Xiao before leaving.

Xiao watched Ryan leave and inscribing in his heart that Ryan would always be his best friend. He was the person to take the initiative to fix their relationship after their break up before and now he was sacrificing his own mental state to help Jack not lose himself in benefits.

Xiao walked back inside considering what to say.
