World of Aesis

Aesis world is known as a fractured world. It doesn't have a unifying god; instead, it has many countries, nations, and kingdoms fighting against each other.

The world has three continents, Eastica, Westeria, and Sudern. The world Aesis also has a Moon world called the Green Solo Moon. Even though it is called a green solo moon, it is a desolate desert world.

The kingdoms of the world are extremely hierarchical, mainly feudal in society. Kings, queens, and emperors hold the most power. Then the nobility and the feudal lords. Commoners have little to no freedoms and even their movement around their homeland can be restricted as a cautious lord may not wish to lose a valuable labor force.

In the grey-scale mountains of Eastica, far north of the continent lays the home of the last remaining holdouts of the grey skins, the true natives of the world. The humans drove them out when they arrived in the world and the founding rulers killed their god.

Jacob kingdom/Holy Fairfax kingdom

The people of the Jacob kingdom are known as proud. The founder, Franz Jacob, was a strong person who lived until the age of 150. His lineage is still alive and has ruled the kingdom since its creation. He was a powerful being with divine power. He was severely wounded during his battle against Edmund Haraldrar in 102. The kingdom is divided into six regions, along with the capital region. These regions are further divided into smaller provinces, and each territory and area is ruled by a noble and their family. To the west, it borders the nation of Sparv. To the south, it borders the city-state of Vatigaad and the nation of Brahm. To the northwest, it borders the kingdom of Aurelia, and to the north, it borders the grey scale mountains.

The nobles of the kingdom have always held a lot of power. Each noble also has an army that they raise from their own lands. The kingdom operates as a feudal state, where the nobles levy taxes and soldiers from their lands. Every noble and lord has a contract made every twelve years, outlining the conditions of the state and their lordship. This contract outlines how many soldiers and how much taxes they will give to the state.

For the first 500 years of the kingdom, its armies were well-known throughout the world as the best fighters on the Eastica continent. However, during the year 357, the fifth king, Adam Jacob, was invaded by the Haraldrar kings who raided its coasts. The high king of the Harladrar attempted to raid the coast of the nation of Brahm and besieged the city of Vatigaad, but was unsuccessful. After returning to their northern islands, they were confronted by a hastily built fleet by King Adam Jacob. Adam personally sank many ships and slew the high king at the battle using his divine power.

For the first 532 years, wars between nobles were common until the then-king, Eden Jacob, ordered them to stop out of fear of death. A civil war was fought between nobles and the royals, which the royals eventually won. From 595 to 600, the kingdom lost the war for the grey flame pass against the nations of Sparv and Aurelia. The weak and incompetent king Mikael Jacob lost to both nations, even though they fought against each other. During the invasion of the third Raja of the kingdom in 602, King Mikael Jacob led an army of at least 40,000. However, the kingdom's armies were destroyed by the grey skins, who then proceeded to sack Jacobstadt. All the books and records were lost during the raid. After the king's failure, leadership of the army was passed to the Plangent family.

The last 200 years of the Jacob kingdom have been known for corruption and stagnation. The kings, after leaving war leadership, started delegating more responsibility to the nobles and gradually lost interest in governing. The custom of making contracts between the state and nobles began to deteriorate, resulting in fewer taxes and less governmental maintenance. The capital city was left under the supervision of the gangs and corrupt nobles leaving the people to suffer.

Rufus Fairfax overthrew the last king of the Jacob family and the prince, Markus Jacob fled to exile. He then created a new kingdom. He had allied and even become the ruler, also known as the Raja, of the feared grey skins of the mountains. Under his rule, the grey skins from the grey-scale mountains, and humans of the previous kingdom form the Fairfax kingdom.

Under Rufu's rule, the kingdom prospered and grew ever more powerful, winning wars against the Sparv and dealing with any insurrections started by the old nobility of the Jacob kingdom, still loyal to the Jacob royal family.

After the battle of the Bloody Rock Valley, the kingdom of Fairfax, was undeniably the sole ruler of the world of Aesis, as Rufus himself had killed emperor Ala. Through either pure admiration or fear, all kings never rose against him, though he had become reluctant to rule.

Before Rufus left for his epos, to save his sister, he transformed the political structure of his kingdom and the entire world of Aesis. The nobles and tribal leaders would choose among their families people a Primaris who would lead them. They would turn the monarchy into an autocracy, with the Primaris being the steward of the Fairfax kingdom for as long as Rufus was away. He would be assisted by the other nobles and tribal leaders to run such a powerful and prestigious kingdom.

Kingdom of Aurelia

A northern kingdom located in the east-north corner of the Eastica continent, it is bordered by the nation of Sparv to the south and the Elis colonies to the east. For the first 557 years, it was ruled by strong and powerful kings, like many other kingdoms. However, starting in the year 557, the country was led by kings who were permanently adopted by the previous king. This system ensured that the new king was always wise and put the best interests of the people before their own.

The kingdom was founded by Titus Aurelian and was named after him. After his death, the Aurelian dynasty ruled until the year 557, when a civil war destroyed the dynasty. From 345 to 412, the nation was under the Cassian kingdom, also known as the Cassian empire. After the rebellion of the city of Tessia, which led to the empire's fragmentation, the nobles also rebelled and in 412 the kingdom regained its independence. The then-still-alive Aurelian dynasty reclaimed the throne. However, the nobles and people, tired from war, began resisting the Aurelian family.

The Aurelian family were incapable rulers who still wanted to rule the kingdom. They failed to fight against the third grey skin invasion of 489, which caused massive devastation. The Haraldrar kings began raiding the northern coast and forced the kings to pay tribute from 505 to 557. In 557, the nobles, with the support of the people, revolted against the Aurelian dynasty and the dynasty was killed and eradicated. The nobles decided to keep kings but wanted to ensure wise kings would only rule them. From then on, with the acceptance of the people, the nobles created the system of adopting the next king regardless of class. The first king, Julius Cesarion, was from humble beginnings and had neither wealth nor divine power. He ruled with wisdom and kindness. His first act was to stop the tribute to the Haraldrar kings, which led to a war with them. The Haraldrar high king died on the fields of the Elis colonies. The successive kings ensured a golden age for the kingdom. They even won the war of the Grey Flame Pass, which lasted from 595 to 600, between the nations of Sparv, Jacob kingdom, and the Aurelian kingdom, for control of the Grey Flame Pass, the only passage through the grey scale mountains.

The kingdom's elite warriors are the band of greyhound knights, a knightly order led by Sir Maxim Lud, the bloodhound. These knights fight without swords or weapons, instead fighting like dogs and other animals. They are all blessed with divinity that allows them to move like predatory beasts and use their claws, which come out of their armor, to kill their enemies. Only Sir Maxim Lud wields a large curved blade that he uses to terrifying effect.

Elis colonies

The Elis colonies are a patchwork of cities, towns, villages, and other small communities made up of many different people of the kingdom. They were established during the great raids of the first high king of Haraldrar. Initially created as a place to house prisoners and slaves that were brought by the first high king of the Haraldrars, Edmund Haraldrar. After hundred years, they were allowed to build their own houses and settlements, but these settlements were still forced to pay tribute to the Haraldrar kings, which kept the people living in difficult conditions. They also had to endure many grey skin invasions and raids, which forced them to accept every immigrant who was willing to move there, and treat them well by promising them land. This system motivated many people to move there, creating more colonies and settlements.

In the year 557, the Aurelian king Julius Cesarion forced the Haraldrar to leave the Elis colonies and granted them full independence. Since then, the kingdom of Aurelia and the Elis colonies have had a strong alliance, and they have fought against many enemies together.

Etna city-states

The Etna city-states were first known as the nation of Etna, which was ruled by the Espada dynasty. The first ruler, or King of Etna, was the legendary King Cid Vivar, who created a massive and strong nation. He ruled the kingdom until the year 234. He was known as the strongest person in the world, but he never fought against Rey Cid Vivar. Rey Cid's descendants ruled the nation until the year 533, when King Rod Vivar died without an heir. The large commercial cities all declared their independence, as they had grown large. Nowadays, the old lands of the nation of Etna have more than fifteen independent city-states and other smaller principalities, dukedoms, and counties. These city-states built large fleets and conquered most of the island in the Medelin sea and the strait of Espada.

Almost every city has some kind of harbor for gravity ships, which has made many of the cities rich. They allow for a lot of trade to go through with little to no taxes and tariffs for merchants.

All the cities have small armies but hire mercenaries, often from different worlds. Legendary mercenary groups such as the "Spears of Ares" or the "Black Moon Elves of Eleh Anur" have fought for these city-states. However, since wars are costly, the city-states hardly ever war with each other.

The Republic of Genev and Vatigaad are the two richest, most influential, and most powerful of all the city-states.

Most of these cities are ruled by merchants and other rich people. Many normal people have risen to become powerful from even the most humble beginnings.

The city-states still have some kind of warrior class remnants of their first King, who serve the city-states. These warriors are called "Caballers" and are constantly paid by the city, so they do not fight the merchant and rich rulers of the cities.

.

Haraldrar kingdoms

The Haraldrar kingdoms were created by the first High King Edmund Haraldrar. He fought, raided, and pillaged across the world, leaving destruction in his wake. His fleet raided and attacked all the cities of the humans, and he took thousands of prisoners and slaves that were later formed into the Elis colonies. Edmund Haraldrar did not lose a single battle, besting even Franz Jacob, the founder of the Jacob kingdom, Reiner Cassian, the founder of the Cassian kingdom, and Basil Brasileiros, the founder of the kingdom of Smyrna. He was known as the strongest person in the world, but he never fought Rey Cid Vivar.

Edmund Haraldrar had many sons and daughters. He had proclaimed that the strongest should be the king. After he died, his tens of children all proclaimed themselves as the rightful king. This started a culture of constant war on the islands, where tens of extremely small kingdoms existed. Sometimes one person would claim to be the High King, who would go on epic raids trying to imitate the legend of Edmund Haraldrar, but none of them reached the same heights.

After the war of 557, they even lost the war against the kingdom of Aurelia, which forced them to let the Elis colonies go.

Many other people see the Haraldrar people as violent and barbaric. The nation is a cold wasteland with mountains and woods. Life is hard, even without constant warfare. This has bred the Haraldrar people into hardy and strong people.

.

.

Cassian kingdom

The kingdom was founded by Reiner Cassian. He was only able to rule his kingdom for seventy years until he was killed by Edmund Haraldrar. The nation was destroyed almost completely by the Haraldrar people, leaving even the ground itself devastated, making even growing crops hard.

The people rebuilt their own kingdom thanks to the resourceful grandchild of Reiner Cassian named Eren Cassian. In the year 245, he started great reforms, ending the feudal system and centralizing the leadership of the kingdom. He created the Cassian house, a form of parliament where all the nobility could elect people to help with the governing.

The next great king of the Cassian kingdom was Queen Heila Cassian, who came to power after taking power from all her three brothers in the year 336. She marched her armies south and conquered the nation of Elva, and later even sailed across the Wastefell sea and invaded the Aurelian kingdom. By the end of her rule in 385, she had turned her kingdom into an empire.

Her son was unfortunately not able to rule the nation, and it ended in a civil war when the city of Tessia revolted against the central government. The sister of the king, Leia Cassian, who was dubbed as the Cobra of Cassia, was able to keep the empire afloat, winning many battles against the Aurelian, Elva, and Tessian rebels. She always refused to take power from her older brother to make herself the empress, but the then-emperor, her brother, started to grow paranoid of his own sister. The emperor had her sister killed, paranoid that he would be ousted from power. When Leia Cassian died, the empire finally fell, and the Aurelian and Elva kingdoms declared their independence, along with the completely new state of the republic of Tessia in the year 412.

The current Cassian lineage kings have ruled a stale and, in no particular way, significant kingdom that has never again reached the heights the empress helped the kingdom reach. The people and nobles rather talk about the good times than try to improve the kingdom.

The Cassian kingdom founded a spring of growth and strength in the early years of their kingdom. This fountain was formed by Reiner Cassian's body dropping into a small wild fountain. His divine blood was infused with the water that had supposedly been a grey skin ritual place before it. Later it was found that if a person were to bathe in the fountain, their bodies would grow large and strong, with the largest becoming at least five meters tall. The risks were if a person was too long in the fountain, or was not strong enough to begin with, their body would grow too large and turn into a blob and mutate to the degree that would be unrecognizable as a once human. That is why only the strongest are allowed to bathe in its waters. When they leave the fountain, they are given special large armor, and they are to serve in the prestigious Titan knights.

Nation of Brahm

The nation of Brahm has always been known as the underdog nation on the Eastica continent. It has always had the smallest population. Its lands are not rich, nor do its people have a rich and glorious history on the battlefields. Nonetheless, the people of the country must be praised for the fact that it wasn't enveloped by the larger nations around it.

Originally, it was part of the nation of Etna. It was often left underappreciated and was frequently raided by the Haraldrar kings of the north. When the nation of Etna splintered in 533 in the absence of kings, Brahm also declared itself independent. Rather than calling itself a city-state, it declared itself as an entire nation because of its size. The nation is led by a council of nobles who rule from the coastal capital of Bremen.

The citizens are considered petty since they hold animosity towards many of the other kingdoms, nations, and city-states around it. This can be considered reasonable since the nation of Brahm has been invaded many times, especially by the kingdom of Jacob.

.

.

Kingdom of Guiscard's.

The island of Guiscard originally had a different name. It was part of the Sardes federation for the first 500 years of its existence. In the year 523, a Haraldrar petty king Rolf Eisen landed on the island as a mercenary. He was hired by the lord of a small federal state to fight another federal lord. When Rolf Eisen defeated the enemy, he expected to be paid well. Unfortunately, the federal lord tried to kill him since he was unable to pay him back. Rolf Eisen then killed the lord that had hired him. He proclaimed himself as the new lord and settled his warriors on the land. He even changed his last name to a Sardes one, Guiscard.

From the year 528, he conquered more lands on the island. After he was deemed too powerful in the eyes of many federal lords of the Sardes federation, they all united to oust him from the island. Rolf Guiscard was able to defeat them and took home all the federal lords' heads he slew as trophies and melted them in copper. The copper heads stand at the gates of port Hauteville, the largest port on the island, as a reminder not to cross the Guiscards. From then on, the people also named themselves Guiscards, a fitting blend between Haraldrar and Sardes people.

The Guiscard family still rules the island. The island is fertile and rich, but the Guiscards still hold martial prowess in high regard. They are different from their Haraldrar cousins, who are feared warriors. The Guiscards are famed for martial discipline and are famed mercenaries on the world, and some mercenaries have also sailed on gravity ships to seek gold on different worlds.

.

.

Sardes Federation

The Sardes federation was created when a large group of powerful individuals came together and formed the federation. They declared that all of them should be equal and given a spot of land on the fertile lands of the islands.

For the first two hundred years, the federation worked well, but soon the federal lords forgot the promises the founders made to each other. They started to war against each other for land and prestige.

The largest threat came when Rolf Guiscard made himself a lord and conquered the northern island of Guiscard in 528. They lost the northern islands along with the large Guiscard island.

After the loss to Rolf Guiscard, the war among the federal lords decreased. They even created a buffer state called the free island of Danz as a shield. They rather use diplomacy to solve issues and pay with grain that they have plenty.

The people of the islands are now known as peace-loving people that the other nations and kingdoms ridicule, but as the saying of the Sardes people goes, "Peace and grain are more valuable than swords and gold."

.

.

Nation of Sparv

The nation was created by the great Sarv Satava Chezia. She was a fierce warrior and a rumored lover of Franz Jacob. The rumor has it that Franz Jacob wanted Satava to be an obedient wife and her lands to be part of the Jacob kingdom. Satava Chezia did not accept and led her own nation on the west coast of the continent of West. She ruled for a hundred years and lived for a hundred and twenty years.

Satava had only daughters who started a bloody civil war among them. The civil war lasted for a hundred years and only lasted when the great-granddaughter of Satava, Masa Sparv, claimed the throne and crowned herself the Sarv in the year 207.

Only women are eligible to be a Sarv in the nation. The people of the nation believe the southern regions of the Jacob kingdom should join their nation since they seem them more closely related to them rather than the other northern regions. For that, they fought many times against the Jacob kingdom.

.

.

Heian empire

The Heian empire doesn't have a long history. Their country was formed around a hundred years ago when king Ala of the Heian kingdom conquered a large part of the Sudern continent and even crossed the Agalic sea and conquered the entire Koilas continent. He then proclaimed himself the emperor and started to consolidate his newly conquered lands.

The history of the empire is very much the history of the emperor himself. He reformed the regions and counties and got rid of the normal feudal system. The nobles still hold a lot of power but do not dare to oppose the emperor. Now the emperor and his bureaucrats name and give positions based on merit, not birth.

The army was also reformed into a professional army. The soldiers are all much more motivated than forced conscripts, with the government providing weapons and armor to them that have been standardized.

Its Navy sails the seas protecting its economic interests in the world, and is used as a show of force when needed.

The Heian people are taught from the beginning to be loyal to the emperor at first and then to the nation. That is why many people make fun of the Heians as fanatics and not citizens.

Emperor Ala came close to conquering the entirety of the Aesis world but was defeated and subsequently killed by Rufus Fairfax. Although the powerful emperor had died, the empire lost much of its lands but still was able to stay as an empire and a powerful one.

Both Wulfila and Wulftrudem, twins of emperor Ala, had become an emperor and an empress. It had been a long struggle for both of them, but many believed they were the only ones who could maintain and protect their people. Eventually, many nobles and despots of the empire aided them in claiming the empire.

They then reformed the way how the nation would govern itself. They created their own house, the royal family of Wulf, which had two families. One family descended from Wulfila, and the other from Wulftrude.

When an emperor died, he would be succeeded by the co-emperor, who was chosen by the two imperial Wulf families. The only law and rule was that the co-emperor and emperor couldn't come from the same family. This created an enduring legacy of rulers capable of ruling such a massive nation.

Rufus Fairfax decreed that the Heian empire was given the duty of protecting the people. This meant that the empire was permitted to make war to bring peace. The Heian empire still had a strong army and capable logistics. It could maneuver its troops to quell civil wars easier than the Fairfax kingdom.

The emperor and co-emperor were also given a third party to govern their massive nation. This institution was named the Reiknassus, a grouping of people who voted and determined when an intervention was the correct choice. Reiknassus would compromise people of any nationality, and any person with qualification could enter. The emperor and Primaris would watch over the Reiknassus in case of corruption.

Kingdom of Hephthalites

Boldizar Arpad was the first king of the Hephthalites. He was a masterful horse rider who rode a rare species of horse, the red stallions, which were larger than your average horse. These horses knew how to fight and were not shy when it came to being on the battlefield.

The Hephthalites live an equestrian lifestyle. They lived and died on horseback, and most of their warriors were cavalrymen. These warriors often went raiding their neighboring countries and kingdoms. This culture of raiding made the Hephthalites extremely warlike.

What also fed this warlike culture was constant civil wars after the king had died. The sons and daughters of the deceased king started brutal warfare. Those noble Hephthalites who aided and betted on the winning candidate for the throne were given high honors and positions and even more land. This constant movement of land from one person to another often forced many people to live almost nomadic lives.

The last king of the Hephthalites died at the hands of Emperor Ala. His only son, Farkas Arpad, then bent the knee to Emperor Ala. The emperor then made him the despot of all of the Hephthalites to rule the new despotate of the Hephthalites of the Heian empire.

The elite warriors of the Hephthalites are the scarlet riders. Each rider was able to tame a wild red stallion that now lives only in the wild in the Hephtalite grasslands. These warriors rode these large beasts, wielding equally large weapons, from spears to lances.

.

Nation of Elva

The Nation of Elva was formed by Queen Victoria Elva. She formed her nation to the southern tip of the continent of Eastica. The queen saw the richness of the Kleider forest that resided in the heart of this new nation. This vast forest was dangerous, but some trees, called the golden oaks, were imbued with divine winds, and their branches could be used to make magnificent weapons.

The entire society of and culture of the Elvan people revolved around these golden oaks that the people took good care of. All of these trees were alive and had a conscious that called out to the people of Elva. When a person was called into the forest, the forest would challenge this person to do certain feats to see would he or she be worthy. If the person survived these challenges, he would be given access to a golden oak, and the tree would give him armor made from its bark. This armor gave its wearer power and protected him as well as the best iron armor. These people are called the Oaken knights and are then given the job of guarding the forest until their death.

If the golden oak that gave a knight its armor is cut down or destroyed, the armor of all the knights it has blessed turns eerie black. These knights are called the deadwood knights, and their armor is a mark of their failure to protect the forest.

Some knights are even known to walk out of their duty. When this happens, the knights who betrayed their mission and duty are forced to wear their armor for the rest of their lives. The armor infuses them and mutates its owner and, to some degree, also warps their mind. These knights are called the hollow tree knights. They have been seen working as mercenaries for other nations, for if a hollow tree knight is seen in the nation of Elva, they are immediately cut down by its soldiers and knights.

Some kings and queens of the nation of Elva have been given the honor of becoming an Oaken knight, but to be a king is certainly not a requirement. The kings and queens work together with the golden oaks and the Kleider forest. The golden oaks know this and allow the Oaken knights to serve the royals as long as they also take care of the Kleider forest.

The nation of Elva has for a long time fought off invasions from the Cassian kingdom and hephtalites. They don't feel the need to go for wars of conquest or anything, but the people are very prideful. They often see themselves as better than the other nations since they are blessed by the golden oaks. They have few times even sailed to the Sudern continent to wage war against the hephtalites who have insulted their sacred trees.

.

.

Kingdom of Alberic

The first king, Alexios Alberic, formed his kingdom in the year 230. He was a lowly peasant who stopped the fighting between the Cassian kingdom, the nation of Elva, and the Heian empire, who all wanted the Alberic peninsula for themselves. The three countries were thrown to sea thanks to the divine powers of Alexios, who then crowned himself the king of Alberic.

The people of the kingdom first saw their new king as their savior, but it was short-lived. King Alexios Alberic wanted a spectacular capital. He forced his people and citizens to build the city of Lordan, which caused hundreds of deaths. This made people give him the moniker Alexios the bloody sea.

He built his capital on the coast of the Cerea ocean to be the most powerful city on the coast of the ocean. This city has a large harbor with tall sea walls that fight every day against the raging seas. The city of Lordran is one of the most spectacular things in the entire Aesis world.

The Alberic kingdom has always been an isolationist. They use their large Navy to guard its long coast. Their Azure sea guards patrol the coasts and are used on the ships to destroy enemy ships. Their divinity let them shoot arrows that could break through the hulls of every enemy ship.

.

.

Gobal nation

The Gobal nation was an extremely poor country. Its nickname was the desolate nation. Its people lived in the Global desert, an extremely poor and desolate area that was both freezing and dead. Nothing almost grew in there.

It didn't have a king nor queen or any kind of central government. Instead, different kinds of counties were ruled by different people. These counties warred against each other non-stop for any resource they could get their hands on.

No one ever wanted to invade this pathetic area since it was extremely poor. The only reason people lived there was that it was the only place in the Aesis world that didn't discriminate.

Most people were exiles from different countries, and its vast lands were perfect for a person to vanish. Its population is extremely small, with most of its people living on the coast.

.

.

Nation of Dukija

The nation of Dukija is a poor and feeble nation, living at the crossroads of larger powers. They often pay homage and tribute to their larger and more powerful neighbors, but more often than not, these nations try and conquer and take lands from them.

Constant fighting for independence has forced them to become extremely nationalistic, where just one sentence that is considered to go against their nation would force them to end up in jail or worse. The people who enforce and make sure that people follow these laws are the carmine inquisitors. They patrol the nation and are given the full right to convict and even kill any citizen they deem worthy of the sentence.

Emperor Ala was still able to conquer this nation and forced their people to bow before the imperial flag.
