3 Chapter 3 - Pathetic

Ren walks out away from the girls who were chatting along while he had his eyes glowed under the moonlight as he slowly tenses himself knowing that he's going to kill that night. He spread his senses finding around Five Assassin where he estimated they were at least skilled enough to be second rate Martial artists. Though, he was a first rate Martial artist but that would be his base and including his technique and newly acquired quirk then it is another story.

He vanished from his spot and swiftly jumped across the trees as he looked around to find where the Assassin was discussing their plans. Ren was unsure of their quirks and if they were going to be an issue which is why he decided to take action as swiftly as possible. 

His body naturally understood his Quirk or devil fruit and mentally trighed in creating string out of his body not just his hands. Ren looked down at the Assassin as his eyes glowed casting shadow over his face where only his eyes could be seen. He manipulates the string and immediately reaches out spreading the string before letting it pierces into their neck and thanks to his in depth knowledge of the human body instantly got through. 

He recalled the move was called parasite and instantly caused the body of the Assassin to be restrained where once his intuition telling him there was no more danger quickly jumped down the trees and said.

"For a group of Assasin, you five are pathetic."

The assassins struggled only to stop when they spotted Ren surprising them and wanted to scream but knowing that they would get caught if they screamed. Ren felt their killing intent and the moment one of them tried to activate their Quirk only for their Nervous system to scramble and instantly killed them without any blood, terrifying the Assassin that the little boy killed one of their members.

"It is best for you to not move or use your quirks. The only thing I want from you is answers. Understand?" 

"Y-Yes."

"Great, now tell me who sent you and why."

To be an Assassin they are the worst. Ren felt dissapointment while the assassin immediately told him it was another CEO company who had an argument because their father refused to arrange a message between their son and Momo. Ren remained stoic, was infuriated that someone dared act this way and wanted to Assasin him personally but seeing all things pointed at him decided not to act for now. 

"T-That's all we know! We still have families to return to!"

"Y-Yeah, hey kid, W-We were just doing our jobs."

They tried to plead to him yet Ren didn't immediately response and nodded giving them an ember of hope and heard he said.

"Thank you, unfortunately…..I can't leave loose ends."

It was at that moment their families came to mind as Ren killed them a quick death without any blood and said to them.

"I don't have any grudge against you and I somewhat understand your sentiment but letting you live would be a problem for my family."

He left without saying a word and returned to Momo and Melissa who happy to see him as they head back to the mansion while few moments later after he left the Assassin was found by the hired hero and security with all of them shocked seeing the group dead without any traces of struggle as the fight was quick and swift. Though, no one knew how they died nor who did it. 

Back to Ren, they went back to their parents as they ate and danced around until the day ended and Melissa was reluctant to leave but learned that Ren was going to I-Island and said.

"Really!? If that is the case then I want to show you my lab!"

"I'm excited to see that."

He smiled while Melissa seemed to blush and started to have a crush on Ren but doesn't know it yet. Her father Ren on the other hand warily smiled glancing at the Yaoyorozou who also gave the same smile. After a while, they decided to head to I-Island together the next day and let their children play together. 

David reluctantly agreed and soon said their farewells with Melissa sad for a moment but remember they'll meet again tomorrow. Her father smiled seeing his daughter happy to have made new friends and left the mansion while Ren decided to speak with his parents telling them about his quirk. He showed it in a private room where they were shocked to see the string that he produced in any part of his body. 

His ability to mentally decide the side of its thickness and length but it made him wonder if it was possible to change the type of string he produces since Donflamigo made someone that has extreme heat. He wondered if it was possible to make silk webs string or even poisonous string but further experiment was needed. 

"That's so cool! I wonder if I can make something like that with my quirk?"

Momo was jumping in excitement seeing her foster brother gaining his own quirk rather than being quirkless. Not that it matters if he is quirkless when he is a Murim martial artist. 

"It's amazing! Your quirk will surely be a great use in the future." 

His mother said, patting his head while softly smiling and his father nodding in agreement and said.

"Indeed and it's a great thing we will head to I-Island tomorrow. The best place to analyze his quirk."

Ren was excited about the things he wanted to suggest to Melissa and also study their research since thanks to his Photographic memories and newly obtained unrestrained development would allow him to understand certains things giving theory about machines in other universes like Arc reactor and iron man armor. He could only imagine Melissa having the power of iron man or even having Nanites like Senator Armstrong.  

After a while, they all head to bed since it was late and their flight is the next day. Fortunately, the I-Island was close by since it is an artificial island that can move across the globe. He only sees them in fiction thanks to his other memories and seeing them in person is completely different. 

He had his own room yet Momo always entered his room without permission and hugged him like a koala. Ren didn't mind it at all since he currently sees her as a little sister and would likely feel attracted once his body matured. Though, he has set eyes on few humans to bring in adventure and hope his reward is a personal world in order to have a place to stay. 

Ren concentrated using his Cultivation method and controlled his breathing similar to breathing technique in Kimetsu No yaiba but a lot stronger and without the defect of dying from overexertion. His technique was a lot faster and quicker and made him wonder why some of his techniques were not displayed in the status.

'To be fair, it might be because I have a string which is why my divine string technique is still there but my Paragon Shadow technique is not there.'

The paragon Shadow is an improved version of an Assassin technique that was provided by the organization that trains him. It allows them to hide their presence and control their breathing but works if they don't move but his version allows him to move around undetected even if you're in front of him or have Qi senses. The only way to detect him is if you're extremely strong and sensitive. The technique can even remove killing intent.

'There's also the Demonic Serpent gaze.'

A technique that paralyzes someone with mere gaze similar to Conquer Haki where it uses killing intent but intensifies several hundred folds and can even kill someone with it. Though, it might be useless now that he has his String String powers but can be used in other ways. He put aside all his thoughts and fell asleep focusing more about tomorrow's venture than anything.

I-Island, an artificial moving island inhabited by over ten-thousand scientists conducting research on Quirks. The island was created to gather the world's top researchers to a safe place where their combined talents could study Quirks. 

The place has several countermeasures in place to prevent criminal incidents. The island's security system is on par with that of Tartarus Prison which held the most infamous villains, many of its structures are built sturdier than bomb shelters, and scientists cannot leave the island to ensure confidentiality. 

I-Island is also home to the famous I-Expo, a city-wide event that showcases all the island's technological advancements. Pro Heroes are invited by the event sponsors and people are permitted to use their Quirks in public. 

"My papa told me that it is still far from complete and adding more due to the sponsor."

Melissa explained while Ren and Momo sat with her while the adults in the other part of the plain. The place was a private jet especially made for the Yaoyorozu due to the danger from joining the public plains. Ren was happily listening to her while Momo was too distracted and would have acted jealous if it weren't for the fact she likes Melissa as her friend. 

He wondered if his presence slightly changed her personality considering she was quite a clueless and nice girl. Ren had been asking about her invention and ideas while sharing his own. Though most of it is from what he reads and understands from comics and anime along with games. 

If she was successful in replicating Nanites like Senator Armstrong that act similar to Vibranium and make suits of armor or even add it to her body then she would be useful as a hero. There is also the high frequency blade but he thought having a Repulsor beam is better. 

'If Ratchet and clank ever taught me that gadgets and tons of weapons are amazing.'

He inwardly nodded recalling the game with the character having numerous wacky weapons. Melissa was happy when he told her about his ideas and said.

"You're right! These ideas you gave will surely help me and many others in the future!"

"You're welcome but it's best to keep those technologies to yourself for the time being and ask your dad about my ideas. Surely he knows what to make of it."

"If you say so."

"Hey! Hey! Don't forget about me! You two have been talking and now I feel left out."

Momo pulled Rent to chuckle and she turned to Melissa and said.

"Did you know, Ren just awakened his quirk yesterday?"

"W-What? Really!?"

Melissa exclaimed with a hint of jealousy while Ren nodded and said.

"Yeah, but don't be disheartened. I'm more jealous with a genius mind like you since in terms of potential then you're better."

She seemed to blush and confused what she felt since Melissa was only 6 years old while Ren knew about it since he's an expert in detecting emotion but didn't say anything. 

"Can you show me? What's your quirk?"

Ren nodded and showed her the string where he was able to manipulate it and created a small doll puppet where he could even change its color by Imagining like how Doflamingo made his string clone. They were in awe seeing the doll dances as he puppeteered it and already knew what Codename or Hero name he'll give himself. 

"Oh soooo cool!? Do you have a name for your quirk?"

"Yeah, it's Marionette."

He doesn't want to call it String String since it sounds horrible and decided to use that name instead. Melissa was happy with the name and so did Momo. Before long, Momo and Melissa watched some cartoons while Ren was reading some books along the trip.
