Chapter Nine

A Twist Of Fate.

..................

"Hello, Edwin," I need to see you right now as I am talking to you." She sounded very urgent, when I picked up the call.

"What is the problem, and why do you want to see me? I thought you guys had totally abandoned me." I asked, because the pain and burden in my heart were too much for my head to carry.

"Please, you just need to listen to me and don't ask too many questions. Tell me, where are you right now? " She asked again. From the tone in her voice at the other end, I knew she meant what she said, and I wouldn't need to joke along.

"Come straight to the Anex hotel. I am in Room Number 041." I finally told her my address.

When I heard the sound of the knock on the door, I needed no soothsayer to tell who was knocking because I already knew it was Sarah. I leaped to my feet and went to open the door.

As I turned up the knob of the door, it suddenly flung open and she made her way into the room, looking at my face. clad in a red gown, looking pretty as usual.

"Edwin, when did we become enemies that you suddenly grew two horns not to check on me after what transpired between you and Tay? How would I have known if not for the information I got yesterday? Your life is in total danger, but as long as I am here, you are safe." She said as she sat down on the bed, not interested in having any drink.

"I am so sorry for that. I wasn't myself after that event, as everything played out in front of me like a drama. So, what information did you get?" I probed. She wore a long grin and hissed.

"If someone had told me Tay could be this heartless and betrayer, I am very sure I'd have taken such a person to court. Just yesterday evening, I went to pay him a surprise visit. Getting to the doorstep, I heard him discussing with some other men whom I didn't see their faces but were men's voices. Literally discussing how their plans have worked in getting the General's daughter kidnapped, Is that true?" She asked.

With shock in my heart, I could not help out when she gushed out those statements.

"Yes, she got kidnapped. As we talk, her father is unleashing the whole matter on me." I had to explain further to her and also showed her the warning letter I received from the General that morning. She continued,

"From the discussion, their next target is to get you killed by the General and then get Juliet released. He was actually the one who went to deliver the message to the General, forging fake accusations against you just to buy the heart of the General. You can imagine how heartless he is." She told me, I felt like carrying a cutlass, going straight to Tay's house, and seizing off his throat.

"This is unbelievable! So, he did all these things to me. What have I really done to deserve this punishment from him?" I questioned nobody in particular, staring at the ceiling board, and something like rings formed around my eyes.

"This is terrible and you don't deserve this treat at all; I've got some evidence to show, because I recorded all their conversations. Time is not late; we need to see the General and wipe off all the accusations that have been laid on your head. I am right here with you to fight this battle to the end." She assured me

"I am very grateful for saving my life. If you've not come, maybe you would've heard that I committed suicide or poisoned myself because of depression." I poured my mind out to her.

"If the world is against you, God can not be against you. God has used me as a helper to rescue you from this wilderness experience. What if I didn't visit him last night? How would I find out the plan had been plotted against you? Thank your God and always serve him." She whispered.

Without much time to delay, I had my shower, changed into my blue polo and black jeans, and sewed my toes into the black shoes as we headed out of my hotel room.
