Chapter 14

When he checked the apartment where he was staying, he already knew that this was the apartment where Lin Miaomiao and her family would move when she became a day student. Ye Bai walks inside the apartment and takes the key to the door.

Qian Sanyi, who was going downstairs, saw a familiar person opening a door. "Ye Bai? I didn't know that you live here." Even though he is aloof, he can't stop asking, especially since he is his classmate.

Ye Bai opened the door, turned around, and found Qian Sanyi standing on the stairs. 

"Hey, I usually stay at my grandparents's house. Now I am boarding at the school dormitory," he answers. "You lived here too?"

Qian Sanyi: "Ah, yes, I lived on the 3rd floor. Why don't you apply as a day student? Your house is near."

Ye Bai: "I will when my parents return from the States; for now, I'll stay in the dorm."

Qian Sanyi wanted to ask another question, but he found his mother coming and saw him talking to Ye Bai. "See you later." He trotted to his mother and helped her carry the groceries. 

Ye Bai nodded and closed the door.

From his memory of the TV show, Qian Sanyi was staying on the third floor of this building. The second floor was the place where the Lin family moved. Ye Bai's house is on the ground floor.

Observing the clean house, Ye Bai speculated that his mother must have hired someone to tidy up. He headed straight to his bedroom, changing into more comfortable clothes.

Now was the time he was waiting for. He took out his phone and put it on the study table. As he unlocks the phone, it's just a normal phone. He tries to open the gallery, but there's nothing there. The messages also have nothing; his contact does have a list. 

Now he realizes that this phone is just a normal phone, but the only advantage is that it's from the future. Oneplus 11 is released in 2023, and he remembers that this is a gift from her aunt living in the States. This year is only 2014; maybe the Oneplus 1 version will just be released this year.

'If this phone is from the future,' Ye Bai directly opens the browser and searches for something. His heart beats so fast when he realizes how powerful this phone is. He can search for something from the future. 'This is a cheat, a powerful goldfinger.' For Ye Bai, this is a good thing, especially in the entertainment industry. 

But reality hit him hard. He realizes that he only has four years to live. He walks to the bed helplessly. He just laid down and closed his eyes. He doesn't want any cheating right now; a long life is what he wants.

Ye Bai didn't know how long he was sleeping. He looked outside and found that it was already nighttime. He took his phone and found many notifications.

Meowmeow: Xiaobai, I want to go out.

Meowmeow: Are you home?

Meowmeow: Xiaobai, why are you not replying?

Meowmeow: Wang Shengnan nags me every minute. I think that even in my dreams, I will hear her voice.

Meowmeow: Ye Bai replied to my messages when you saw them.

When he saw this message, he couldn't help but laugh when he was watching the show. But if he were in Miaomiao's shoes, he would be annoyed too. He understand that Wang Shengnan loves her daughter a lot. But it's suffocating if your every move is watched. He don't know if Miaomiao is lucky or unlucky to have Wang Shengnan as her mother. But he knows that Wang Shengnan is lucky to have Miaomiao as her daughter because, even though she was a little rebellious, he still follows what Mother Wang tells her.

Xiaobai: Sorry, I fell asleep as soon as I came back. What happens?

Lin Miaomiao was reading a comic when she received Ye Bai's message. She excitedly read it and replied.

Meowmeow: My mother nags for a long time. I think she saved the whole week of nagging when she saw me.

Xiaobai: Fighting, stay alive! There are another two more days left.

When Lin Miaomiao read his reply, she gritted her teeth.

Meowmeow: You are laughing at my misfortune, Ye Bai.

Xiaobai: Laugh at you? I didn't laugh.

Xiaobai: *voice record* ~Hahahahaha! ~

Xiaobai: That is laughing.

Miaomiao was angry. She opened the computer to start doing her homework and threw the phone at the side of the table. Wang Shengnan enters Miaomiao's room carrying a fruit snack for her daughter. "Sit up straight; you are slouching; look at your back."

Miaomiao was annoyed; her mother was here again. She gets the headphones and puts them on. When Wang Shengnan saw this, she took the headphones off Lin Miaomiao's head. "When doing homework, don't listen to music. Take this headphone off."

"I'm not listening to music; I'm just blocking out disturbances so I can concentrate."

"So my voice is a disturbance now?"

Lin Miaomiao took her phone again and said, "No, they are all wise words."

"Stop playing with your phone; it keeps beeping all the time. Who are you talking to?" Wang Shengnan asked curiously.

"My classmate Deng Xiaoqi, she is also my roommate."

"Didn't you meet at school every day? You just separated a bit, and you already have so much to talk about."

"We are discussing our homework."

"Discussing homework? In the exam, can you discuss it with others? Start thinking independently."

Lin Miaomiao stared at her. "You are bothering me."

"Fine, I'm leaving." Before leaving the room. "Here, eat this and recharge some of your energy."

Every Friday, this will be the routine of Lin Miaomiao and Wang Shengnan. They will play a 'Three Acts'. 

Act 1: Happy Reunion. They will treat each other as guests. There will be hugging and crying; this will last till dinner or the next morning at best. 

Act 2: Common Enemies. They will start to fight and hate each other. This will continue until Sunday lunch. After Wang Shengnan eats this, she will realize Miaomiao will go back to school for a week. This is the next act that will play.

Lin Miaomiao woke up from her bed and couldn't stand to wake up. When she glances at the side of the bed, Wang Shengnan is holding a glass of milk.

"This is what I want. You will wake up in the morning in the big bed. The female servant in the house brings me a glass of unidentified liquid. What is the breakfast royal servant?" Miaomiao teased.

Wang Shengnan also plays along and acts as a royal servant. "Red apple and peanuts; this is walnut milk good for the brains." 

Lin Miaomiao happily sits and takes the glass of milk in her hand. But before Miaomiao can react, Wang Shengnan snatches the blanket covering her body.

"Nooo!" she cried loudly as her warmth was stolen away. "This royal servant must be fired," Miaomiao said with a playful banter.

"Where are you going?" Wang Shengnan saw that his daughter was going out.

"Ye Bai and I will hang out a little; it's been a year since the last time we got together," Lin Miaomiao explains.

"Alright, just be careful. And tell Ye Bai that when he visits, I'll cook for him." Wang Shengnan's impression of Ye Bai was positive, remembering him as a polite and intelligent young man from when they lived downstairs.

Observing his daughter leaving, Lin Dawei turned to Wang Shengnan with a question. "Are you okay with our daughter hanging out with a boy?"

Wang Shengnan: "What? It's Ye Bai; do you really think he will be interested in your daughter? "

"Miaomiao is good," Lin Dawei argued.

"Yes, she is. But sometimes, you can't even tell if she's a boy or a girl with the way she acts," Wang Shengnan responded.

'Don't come crying to me if your daughter falls for that boy,' he thought to himself.
