67 Frenemies again?

Ryan stood there bloodied and injured and he was asking for Jake to stay!! This was very confusing not only to Zara but also to Veronica.

Zara couldn't understand a thing. The boys were speaking to each other as if they had met before; as if they knew each other very well.

But, surely, either of them would have told her. Or, so she thought.

Seeing her confused expressions, Ryan threw his hand open signaling Jake and added, "Will you tell her or should I do the honors?"

Jake grimaced, his fists clenching and unclenching as he tried to gain control over his jumpy nerves.

Zara's eyes flitted from one boy to the other, curious to understand what was going on. She felt utterly confused, bewilderment written plainly across her face.

"Zara, meet my one and only best friend in the whole wide world, Jacob."
