109 Feeling helpless

Alice knew what those words were doing to him, tearing his heart apart like a sharp blade that would tear through a piece of fabric leaving zigzag edges in its wake.

More importantly, it was not the words rather the person saying them that crushed his heart.

Alice tried calming Jake down "I think it's better if we both leave for now. Let us give her some time to cool down."

Jake nodded his head, he wanted the earth to swallow him whole. 

Alice helped him get up and almost pushed him forward. They both walked near the door. He couldn't help but glance one last time before he left. Zara was still clutching Ryan and refused to look at him. He had never felt so abandoned or helpless before. Ryan tried his best to keep his hands away from Zara, lest his best friend would think that he was taking advantage of her again. He knew that look.
