The pain was visible on his face, through the way his veins strained in his neck and the way his brows furrowed. He was trying hard to control his emotions and appear unfazed; however, Zara's reaction had shaken him. He was a demigod, a half angel, yet the reaction of a human affected him, moved him.

He could make any other girl fall for his charm, he didn't even have to make an effort; just his radiant smile and his kind heart would have been enough. But, being half angel meant he knew how humans felt or behaved. At least, to some extent. There wasn't a logic behind every action and after meeting Zara, he knew why.

Alice couldn't bear to see him in pain. She wanted to comfort him and had even reached for him, but it looked like he wanted to be left alone.
