132 Damn those eyes

Zara got up and gently knocked on the door of the room where Rebecca had been sleeping.

"Alice, can I come in? I can help…"

She waited for a minute but there was no reply. Zara sighed and looked at the stairs, she wasn't sure what to do next. The gym was on the upper floor and she didn't want to roam around the house as if she was intruding in the siblings' private space.

Ryan's room was locked from the inside and she could hear the sound of water stop abruptly as he turned the shower off. She looked at herself reflected in the glasses that lined the shelves of a huge cupboard that held books. Her reflection was scary, and she looked like a zombie.

She pictured how she must look, with her hair sticking out in every possible direction, tangled and matted and her clothes crumpled as a paper. She went into Alice's room and washed her face while trying to manage her frizzy hair.
