Zara then looked up at him, tears streaming down her cheeks, the mascara smearing her face. Ryan's hands seemed to be following the orders of his heart though his mind was continually telling him to distance himself from her. His hands gently wiped the tears and his voice came out uneven, "Who…Who is your date? He must be looking for you."

If happiness could turn into regret in a matter of seconds, she hadn't known before this moment. Jake's face swam in front of her eyes. Her date..her date was Jake who was probably waiting for her, even when she was stupid enough to run after someone else she barely knew.

Zara was sure Ryan wouldn't even turn around if she left so she decided to not go running after him again. Her make-up was ruined and so was her hopeless heart.
