We all have heard about the story of 3 wooden dolls symbolizing 3 different types of people. My mother taught me a lesson of what person I wanna be in life in a very different and practical way.. Its been an inspiration to live life.. Trying to frame that practical lesson taught by my Mother in words.

I still remember the day very clearly... It was 2 days before I was suppose to join college.. Rather I was suppose to enter a new life...

She took me to the kitchen and asked to boil water in three different vessels, when the water reached the boiling point she asked me put carrot in one vessel, egg in the second and coffee seeds in the last. After few minutes she asked me to switch off the gas stoves..

Then she asked me to remove all the items which I added in all the different vessels. When I removed the carrot she asked me to touch it and said, "What do you observe", I said "The carrot has become soft and can be smashed easily".

She asked me to remove the egg from the vessel and asked me to observe it carefully. I said "The state of the egg has not changed. It is the same as before, solid from outside". She asked me to break the shell of the egg and to observe it. I said "Ideally egg is in liquid form normally and due to heat it has become solid."

She said, "Now remove the coffee seeds." I said "I can't find any coffee seeds and the color of the water has changed".

She said "the reason behind doing this activity is to make you understand. We can be three different types of people. We have to decide what we want to be. If you look at the carrot: this person is very strong always but when a difficult situation comes it becomes weak and meek. It can't handle the pressure and tend to break down."

"If you look at the egg: this person is strong from outside and soft from inside always. In the difficult times this person becomes strong from inside and doesn't allows any outsider take advantage of his/her situation."

"If you look at the coffee seeds : this person has an amazing personality all together. He/she will always stay strong in life. If a difficult situation comes he/she has an amazing charm that he/she can change the whole environment as per him/her.. They don't get affected by the situation."

"Now you have to decide what you wanna be carrot, egg or coffee seeds?"
