1 It Had To End This Way

On a very hot day, the scorching sun was hot enough to be able to penetrate one's skin and burn them dry.

A very innocent figure was seen walking on the path of the road. From her expression you could see that she was no exception from the heat dawned from the sun.

She couldn't take it anymore and immediately halted by the road side to take a taxi. "I Don't have enough money for a taxi, what do I do now?" She asked herself, confused.

She sighed out loud and decided to go with her plans of walking to her destination.

The ringing from her mobile phone distracted her. She pulled it out from her trouser's pocket and stared at the name on the cracked and broken screen. "Mom." She whispered, before her shivery hand swiped the caller right. Her expression was looking somewhat scared.

"Mo..mom?" She stuttered to answer.

She flinched hearing whatever the other person on the phone was saying. Her body shivered stiffly.

"I..I haven't reached yet, I'm on my way." She spoke after gulping down hard. The fear she felt was obvious in her body movement.

"You lazy girl, hurry up and get here, I am giving you five minutes to reach, if not you won't be given dinner tonight." The harsh voice from the speaker penetrated into her ears.

"I…I will be.. there." She sputtered in fright. A lone tear escaped her full eyes, but she held it in not to let out a sob.

Yes! this is the life she lives. A sad and tragic life. Her own parents who are supposed to show her all the love in the world, hates her with passion. She has always wondered if truthfully they are her real parents, but anytime she pulls out the courage to ask them, she will either be scolded or beaten for asking such.

She is just a teenager, a seventeen years old girl, she knew she didn't deserve all this hatred and suffering but she could do nothing about it.

Raising her hands, she used her fingers to wipe the tear rolling down her eye.

She decided to rush over, after all she was given only five minutes. And that five minutes really meant five minutes.

She started to run on the road, this wasn't the first time she was doing this so she was pretty used to it already. She ran, breathing heavily but she never for once ceased to take an intake of breath. She kept on running and running, sweating profusely. Even at that she still refused to stop.

Checking the time using her mobile phone, it was left with a whole three minutes and she haven't even gone a mile to where she was supposed to be.

Seeing this, her eyes widen in fear, she hastened her speed and increased her tempo, she ran as fastest as she can. She could feel as if the 'tik tok' sound of the clock was running in her head.

Every other thing had become a shut down for her, her only aim was to reach her mother's stall in the required time that was given to her, even lesser, but she knew it will only be a dream.

Already last night, she was starved because she came home late from work. Her parents blatantly refused to hear her out saying that she purposely did that so she could spend some time with her boyfriend, which was obviously a lie they created because of the so much hate they have for her.

Will her life forever be like this? She asked herself inwardly as she kept running, hoping to meet the deadline. Streams of tears already escaped her eye lids but she didn't care. She had no time to wipe them off as her main aim and concentration was on getting to her mother within the three minutes allocated to her.

The gazes from people along the road did not falter her one bit. She knew she looked like a mess right now but it was of no concern to her.

Many people, both friends and distant relatives who have seen the way she has been treated. Had advice her numerous times to leave if she can't take it anymore. They forgot one thing while telling her to leave. Where will she leave to? What will she become once she leaves? Who will she leave to?

All those unanswered questions are something she has to look into before deciding to leave like that. They hate her without reasons but she loves them alot with lots of reasons not to.

Thinking about this, she started to sob more and more as she ran with force. She was at her limits but she couldn't give up, she just didn't want to.

Her clothes were soaked with both stains from her sweat and tears. If everyone's life were like this, will people still be willing to have parents? She had always asked this question to herself.

The tears from her eyes had already started clouding her vision but she didn't dare stop to clean any of them. From her blurry vision, she could see through her phone that it was left with a traumatic one minute.

Atleast she had gone far enough, but the one minute remainder will not be enough for her to reach at the right time. She needed like an extra three minutes more.

There is no need, she knew it, she's done for. Still, she never halted nor slow down. She kept pushing forward, testing luck one more time, even though she knew luck had never been her fortune.

With a sad smile, she knew she was supposed to give up, but no! She didn't. The sadness in her face was so torturing to look at.

Unexpectedly, a luxurious Audi race car, had a collision with her while she was running across the road.

Everything seemed to be in slow motion as she found herself on the rocky ground. She blinked slowly but her eyes could see nothing but blurr. And she was quite aware that it wasn't the blurriness from her tears, but it was the one of her loosing consciousness, seeping out of the light.

She only had one thought in mind. If indeed she is to die, she only has one regret. Her parents never loved her. If only…if only they ever loved her at least for once, just once. A tragic smile slithered through her lips. Maybe, this is the end of her sorrows. It had to end this way.

Just like that, her eyes closed shut, her body limped to the ground completely.
