112 The Dungeon Maze

Trevon walked towards the deep of the jungle. He found the place had many plants that he hadn't find before. Using his 'Transfer Plant' ability, he moved some plants into his universe.

[Hahaha.] Trevon enjoyed the new notification of the new plants. He enjoyed his new hobby of collecting new species of plants and animals.

However, his plunder didn't take long. After ten minutes of plundering, Trevon arrived at a huge cave. The cave was a perfectly shaped rectangle.

[Should I enter this?] Trevon thought. He made another portal for his safety.

[Fine. I am ready.] He encouraged himself and went forward to enter the cave.

"BRAK!!!" Trevon bumped into an invisible barrier.

"AWWWW!!! Is this a trap?" He touched his forehead. It was burning with pain.

"Pay before test." The dungeon master's voice was heard.

"Could you tell me about that before I tried to enter?" Trevon complained to the dungeon master.

"…"

"Gah! Fine. Where should I pay the fee?"

"…"

"There is a monolith over there." Master Rabbink pointed toward a stone a bit far from the cave.

Trevon took a pouch of spirit stones and walked toward the monolith. Suddenly he felt it was a bit lighter.

"Whoa!" Trevon counted the spirit stone inside. It was one hundred spirit stone less. The young master felt a bit afraid.

"He can take your spirit stones. As long as he could read your intent to pay, he could take it."

"Trevon McArthur can test."

"HEY! How do you know my name?" Trevon couldn't believe that.

"…"

"He has similar Scout skill in this dungeon. That would be useful to give a suitable test." Master Rabbink informed Trevon.

"Ah! I see."

"For example, while he seemed to shout, only you could hear that. You didn't hear when Ainsley entered this dungeon, right?"

[Yes. You are correct.]

"Hey! Did my companion enter this same cave?"

"One test one candidate."

[He answered me.] Trevon felt happy. "So, you have many dungeons?"

"…"

"Sigh… Now you give me the silent treatment."

"…"

"Are you really talking to a dungeon master?" Master Rabbink strangely looked at Trevon.

"Why?"

"Most dungeon masters are not a socialize creature."

"Ah! I think they are better than those cultivators around me." Trevon thought. "I felt they are purer than the fake friends."

"Hm… You are not wrong on that." Master Rabbink said. "Human is one of the scheming species. You should try to find another species. For example, orcs are more straightforward. Their fists speak their thought."

[Gulp...] Trevon didn't want to talk with an Orc. He went toward the monolith.

[Eberk Rockminer Inheritance Dungeon.]

[First Test is the Challenge of Destiny. Luck is the key to find the destiny inside. The roads will be filled with both dangers and treasures. Return if you are afraid.]

[Pay 1.000 Spirit Stones for Escape Talisman.]

He looked into the cave again. Trevon had read about Escape Talisman. That was a talisman which could be used in a certain dungeon only.

[This is a bit expensive.] Trevon thought. However, he didn't want to bargain. This talisman was his safety net.

"I want to buy a talisman." Trevon took a pouch. Suddenly the pouch felt empty. A talisman appeared on the monolith. It was a brown paper with an inscription on it.

[I should be safe with this talisman.] Trevon grabbed the talisman and put it in his storage ring.

Trevon slowly went toward the cave this time. He put his hand first afraid of the invisible barrier. [There is no longer a barrier.]

He continued to walk until everything turned dark.

[Was I teleported to a dungeon?] He could not see anything behind him. Even the light of the entrance disappeared.

"Yes. The dungeon master had several mazes. He must be busy making another maze with your money."

[What? He took my money so he could make the challenge for me?] Trevon turned angry toward the dungeon master.

"He is a young dungeon master. Of course, he won't have many mazes under him. However, he must always prepare when a challenger like you entered his dungeon. Therefore, a dungeon master will continue to refill and build his dungeon until the final inheritance finds the destined inheritor."

Trevon took some shining pearl from his storage and inserted some spiritual energy on it. The pearl started to glow.

Soon Trevon could see everything nearby. He was in a dark passage. The floor was a damp ground while the wall was uneven rocky bricks.

The young master walked forward a bit. Everything was similar.

"Squeak!" Nana pointed her small claw toward an extinguished torch.

"Yes." Trevon concentrated and found the fire elements on the air. He controlled them toward the torch and lighted the torch.

The area turned bright. He could see the uneven rock bricks were gray in color.

[There is another one.] Trevon found another torch and lighted it. With the torches, he could put Shining Pearl on his storage ring. He didn't need to carry it with the torch on the wall. The young master saw three meters ahead another pair of extinguished torches was on the wall.

He took his Dark Demon Slayer swords and prepared himself. [Is this the feeling of entering a dungeon?]

"Squeak... Squeak..." Nana was unlike Trevon. She was confident as a Rank 2 demon beast. Her instinct was to fight for foods.

Trevon walked slowly toward the next torch. He used fire elements to light the torches again. The passage was dark and short. It was only two meters tall. With a little jump, Trevon could touch the stone bricks ceiling.

He kept moving forward and lighted torches that he found on the way. The fire from the torch warmed his body in this cold passage. However, he didn't meet anything.

[Is there any demon beast in here?] He had heard some demon beasts lived in a dungeon.

"Flap... Flap... Flap..."

[?] Trevon heard something from somewhere ahead. He continued to walk and lighted another torch.

"Flap... Flap... Flap..."

The noise turned even clearer.

"Squeak... Squeak..." Nana showed her little claws. The mouse was ready to fight.

"Wait a minute. I need to timeout." Trevon stopped. He used his Core Management and teleported to his universe.

"What?" Master Rabbink felt Trevon destroyed the tempo.

"What are you doing?" Master Rabbink followed Trevon to his universe, but the young master went toward one of his portals. He jumped toward it.

"Sigh…" Master Rabbink followed Trevon.

Trevon returned to his rented home in Redwood, the Mercenary House. He appeared in his room and went to the toilet.

"Do not follow me! I want to pee." He put Nana outside before entering the bathroom.

"Ah! That is too stressful." Trevon said after he appeared from the dungeon. He took some time to brew a tea.

"…" Master Rabbink wanted to cry. This apprentice God took the time during a dungeon test.

"OK! I am ready now. We have to be in the most optimum state." Trevon returned to the dungeon again.

"…" Master Rabbink couldn't refute, but it felt wrong. Something was totally wrong.

"Heik!!!" Trevon appeared and fall on top a stoic figure. The figure shouted in shock and fear.

"WHOA! Who are you?" Trevon also jumped toward the door. Before him was a middle-aged man, but with only one and a half meters in height.

However, the person didn't talk and just disappeared.

[GHOST?!!!] Trevon wanted to return back to his house in Redwood. While a cultivator could fight against the ghost, it would be annoying since the ghost could go undetected.

"He isn't a ghost." The Rabbink said.

"What?" Trevon almost jumped back to his home in Redwood.

"He is the dungeon master. He wanted to check how you could disappear from his dungeon."

"Ah! Is he a dwarf?"

"Nope. A dungeon master is a dungeon master." Master Rabbink said. "However, a dungeon master could make an avatar. Most choose the first creature they see, which was the inheritance predecessor. In this case, that dungeon master copied Eberk Rockminer's body."

"Ah!" Trevon nodded.

"Do not scare me!" He shouted toward the dungeon master.

[Oh, my Rabbink's tail! What did I do in previous mission so I get this kid as punishment?] Master Rabbink couldn't believe he found an apprentice who scolded a dungeon master. [That is the God of this miniature world.]

Trevon continued to walk. He was fully concentrated now.

"Flap... Flap... Flap..." The sounds became louder.

This time he saw another pair of torches. However, from behind those torches, he could hear even cleared flapping noise. His nose also picked a bad odor. It stinks like ammonia.

[There is something in front.] Trevon took a talisman from his storage ring. He lighted it and threw far away after activating it.

"Boom!!!" Trevon could feel the shaking on the dungeon.

"Flap... Flap... Flap..."

[Sh*t!] Trevon saw many red and dark purple bats coming from the torch direction.

"1.000 Holy Flashes." Trevon used the small passage to attack. It was hard to avoid random target attack in a narrow location.

Most bats fall to the floor, but some managed to avoid Trevon's attack.

[Age: 323 Years]

[Sex: Male]

[Species: Red Bloodsucking Bat]

[Potential: 2/3]

[Ability: Bite]

[Affiliation: Eberk Rockminer Inheritance Dungeon]

[They are not strong. Hehehe.] Trevon saw the panels. He prepared his sword. [Roaring Eagle Sword Combination!]

Trevon jumped toward the surviving bats and made a horizontal slash, which hit two flying bats. He continued with a stab into another bat that flew toward his face. The young master jumped backward to evade several bats. At the same time, he delivered another horizontal slash to welcome those bats. Some bats fell to his attack.

Trevon tapped on the floor and jumped toward the wall. He thrust his sword toward a bat and continued by changing his thrust with a slash. Two bats killed by him.

The young master continued his combo. A Peak Rank 1 warrior was more than enough to handle these Primary Rank 1 demon beasts. Each slash defeated the bats. Occasionally, Trevon sent some blazing talismans toward the hall in front.

At the same time, Trevon jumped towards the Bat. Nana jumped from Trevon's shoulder toward a bat. She scratched the bat that came close to her. While jumped using the fallen bats towards another bat.

"This is easy. Hahaha." Trevon laughed.

"Squeak... Squeak..." A happy mouse laughed back.

Trevon and Nana cleared the bats. While one bat managed to scratch him. The bat couldn't deal anything major to him. He concentrated his spiritual energy and his wound was recovered.

Trevon lighted the torches and saw a larger hall. He could see many bats flying around in the wall. They came to the passage where Trevon came. He lighted another talisman and threw it toward the hall from his passage.

Trevon kept sending talisman to blast many bats. Simultaneously, he used his sword martial art to defeat the weak bats. Nana supported Trevon by hitting bats which attacked toward his back. The battle took ten minutes. Those bats weren't the opponents for the human and mouse duo.

Trevon came into the big room. It turned into an empty hall. Trevon didn't see any difference between the hall and the passage. Except the hall had a higher ceiling and a wider area. He couldn't easily touch the ceiling unless he intentionally used spiritual energy to jump.

Trevon went to the hall. It was a twenty to twenty meters room. Nothing was unique about the place other the quanos around the room. A bat colony must have stayed in the dungeon.

"Squeak!" Nana sniffed around. The mouse complained about the bat's excrements.

There was nothing in the room. Trevon walked toward the only exit on the other side. He walked a bit and lighted the torches. Sometimes he would find a random bat. They were easy for him. The most powerful bat was only a Beginner Rank 1 demon beast.

Stab. Trevon killed another bat. He took the carcass towards his storage rings. Those weak bats were useful for foods.

[Wait! Could I make a group of fallen body bats?] Trevon thought. [No. They are too weak.] Trevon still thought the metal mole was too weak for his expensive fallen body potion.

Trevon saw a junction in front of him with two exits. One passage towards the left and another towards the right.

"Where should I go?" Trevon wondered.

"Squeak!" Nana pointed toward the left.

"Hm..." Trevon thought. [I should try to make a portal first.]

Trevon used his Core Management skill and used the Portal Making. After testing the portal to work, he continued toward the left passage. He passed another room where a bat colony stayed.

A short fight happened, the young master and mouse duo managed to defeat the bats easily.

Trevon took the dead bats and continued. He found another passage again. This time it was the same left and right. The young master went left again following Nana.

He went until he reached a ten to ten meters room. Nothing was found here. Trevon didn't need to fight a bat.

"Squeak... Squeak..." Nana jumped from Trevon's shoulder. The mouse stopped before a box.

"Treasure chest?" Trevon felt happy. It was said in an inheritance dungeon, one could find many items.

Trevon couldn't wait to open the chest. He came closer to the wooden box.

He touched the wood. It was damp. He could feel the texture of the wood. [This is a common wood.]

There were several metal parts on the chest. They ensured the wood was interlocked one to another. Trevon put his sword behind and tried to open the chest.

"Ergh..." He pulled the chest open. "Hah! Hah! This is locked."

"Squak... Squak... Squak..." Nana laughed for her failed master.

"Do not laugh! Do you think you could open it?"

"Squak..." Nana came closer to the chest. She scratched the chest.

"Brak..." The chest was opened. The mouse looked at Trevon while showing her tiny claws. Her small eyes laughed.

"Hmph… I also could do that if I make an attack." Trevon complained. He looked inside the opened chest. A small vial of potion was there.

"What is this?" Trevon took the vial.

"Hm... That is a physical recovery potion." Master Rabbink said.

"What?" Trevon had several kinds of this bottle. "This is useless."

"No. This is an ancient dwarf potion. While its effect was no longer good, you can use it to unlock a fresh one in the Universe Store."

"Ah! You are correct, Rabbink. Sometimes, you are useful. Hahaha."

"Brak!!!" This time Master Rabbink materialized a fist with Trevon. Nana grabbed the fallen potion.

"This Rabbink is a Celestial God Rabbink. I am always useful."

"Yeah! Yeah!"

It took a minute for Trevon to sell the item to the store. It became [Dwarf Physical Recovery Potion].

Trevon purchased two vials of a new one for six thousand core energy each.

[What is the difference?] Trevon thought. He tried to sniff one, but it smelled like the usual physical recovery potion

"Dwarf has a stronger and bulkier body than human. Their care to physical body tempering is more than a human. Their research on physical potion is also better than a human. It could recover your injury faster. Do not forget this Rabbink had perfected it! Gwahahaha."

"Ah!" Trevon looked to the deep red potion.

Trevon returned to the branch before, he tried the other way. He walked through this path and fought a colony of bats again.

[Why are there so many bats?] Trevon complained.

"They are the cheapest summon for a dungeon. The bats also useful to remove very weak people from moving forward." Master Rabbink told Trevon. "Panicked people would even use their talisman early."

[They are cheaper than Rabbink?] Trevon couldn't believe it.

"No. Dungeon Master summoned differently from a God. Basically, a dungeon master made a portal. They are not creating the creature."

"Whoa! It is unfair. I have to summon the demon beast in my world with my own core energy."

"Actually, the Universe Core sends certain demon beasts based on the portal made by the dungeon master. Bat portal would give many bats so they are easy to replenish. If you allowed some time, even the hall that you have cleared before will have some young bats."

[Whoah! That is cheating. Universe Core could do that? I won't have enough energy for those summoning.]

"You are still an apprentice. Veteran Gods will have too many core energies to spend. They would make the core automatically summoning extra creatures based on certain laws. Do you think a God would stand in a room and summoned countless creatures one by one? You will have some teams to support you one day. However, once again your core is too low. Perhaps you won't be able to reach that far. Gwahahaha."

[Grr... I will prove that to you, Rabbink.] Trevon started to like this God profession.

He started to imagine ordering other people to do his duty as a God while he enjoyed the beauties. The young master was filled with the delusion of ordering people around. [Hahahaha. This profession seems better and better.]

Trevon walked a bit before he heard another voice. This time it was a squeaky noise.

"Squeak... Squeak..." Nana told Trevon that she could hear a rat colony ahead.

"Good!" Trevon took some blazing talismans for preparation.

"Squak..."

"What? You want to handle it?"

"Squeeeak..." Nana nodded while she showed her fang and claw.

"Fine..."

The mouse silently went towards the dark passage. Trevon waited in the passage. He prepared his sword to help Nana.

[I hope she is fine.]

"Squeak... Squeak... Squeak..." Trevon suddenly heard many mice squeaked non-stop.

[Nana?] Trevon frowned. He grabbed his sword in one hand and blazing talismans with the other hand.

Trevon could only squeeze his sword and ran toward the dark passage. "Stay safe! I am coming!" He shouted.
