128 Greenforest

The caravan had traveled for four days from Goldcave. Nothing big happened during the travel. Except, the troublemeter occasionally messed with him.

However, the strange thing it didn't delay the travel. Trevon felt uncomfortable that the troublemeter didn't delay him. That stupid thing didn't delay him from Hillbridge to Goldcave. And he ended with facing so many troubles.

Trevon was completing his Saffron paintings when Master Rabbink called him.

"Look outside! Your caravan is entering the forest."

"What?" Trevon looked toward the only door at his cabin. He saw a long sea of forest welcomed his caravan. The head part of the caravan already consumed by the dense forest.

[There is nothing special with this forest.] Trevon had seen the big forest of Gigantes Mountain and the Redwood Forest. He opened his travel guide.

"Next city should be Greenforest City…" He read the next city in the guidebook. "It is located inside a forest!"

"Gwahahaha. I am not talking about the city, but the forest." Master Rabbink laughed. "This forest is special. This is unique and had potential."

"Why?" Trevon couldn't find anything unique with the forest.

"This forest has no demon beast king."

"No king…" Trevon thought. "That is impossible. Demon Beasts always have a hierarchy of power."

"Wait! You will know soon. Gwahahaha." Master Rabbink laughed.

"Guard! Prepare!" Trevon heard an elder informed the caravan with spiritual energy.

[What is this?] As one of the caravan protectors, Trevon took his sword and went outside his wagon. He hasn't found the source of the problems.

The air in the forest was clean and refreshing. It was a bit damp with insect noises shouting here and there marked their territory. Trevon felt the atmosphere was refreshing. Yet the elder's shout reminded him to be careful. The elder wouldn't shout for something simple.

Marcus also followed his young master together with Aya and Saffron. Only Marcus's wife stayed inside the wagon.

"What is this, Brother Trevon?" Saffron asked. She had stayed in Trevon's luxury wagons. However, both didn't help each other to see the heaven other than the first night. The girl had focused on her cultivation since Trevon gave her a light ball manual from universe store.

"I don't know. We should prepare for demon beasts attack!" Trevon looked around. He wished it wasn't a bandit group. The young master still had a phobia about it.

"Do you want some special mission? Gwahahaha." Master Rabbink asked.

That wasn't because he became diligent or wanted to show off. He became the highest killer because somehow those demon beasts wanted to claw at his wagon. For his little game with the Rabbink, he had to defeat those demon beasts.

"Gwahahaha." Master Rabbink laughed.

[Hmph… I will win as long as you are not cheating and calling a Rank 2 or higher demon beast.]

"No worries! This Rabbink didn't select the demon beast to attack. I only made some of them aimed for your wagon. Gwahahaha."

Trevon returned to his meditation on top of the wagon. There were several attacks from common animals. The family guards could handle them without a problem.

While the attacks from carnivore animals weren't that strange, the strangest one was the attacks from herbivore. He saw a group of common deer attacking their caravan. Even a pack of wild chicken dared to attack their caravan.

[This is not normal.] Trevon was thinking about the strange behavior. But a group of bird type demon beast attacked from the skies stopping Trevon from his thought.

[Gah!] Trevon prepared his sword again. The family guards quickly changed their weapons into bows.

Next, an exchange of diving attack and arrows happened. It was harder to defeat the flying demon beast. They were agile and had a higher position.

[1.000 Holy Flashes!] Trevon sent beams of the holy element to counter those pesky birds. Between the battle cry and the birds' angry screech, the situation turned chaotic.

Trevon had to use his dash to protect his wagon. He was also responsible to protect the nearby merchants' wagons making thing harder for him.

[This forest is not normal.] Trevon felt a bit frustrated. He, Saffron, and Marcus fought against the demon beast for another thirty minutes.

[This is a stamina battle.] Trevon thought. As always, the birds ran away after some exchanges. He looked toward the people on his wagon. Saffron and Marcus started to lose their stamina.

"Eat this pill for recovery!" He shared a pill with Saffron. Meanwhile, Marcus as a member of his private squad already had his own pills.

Saffron saw the luxury pills. Not everyone could eat pills to recover their energy. Those pills would only be used during an emergency. "Thank you, Brother Trevon. This is too much. I can meditate and recover my spiritual energy."

"No need to thank you, Sister Saffron. You are helping me protecting the wagon. I want everyone in full concentration. This place is dangerous." Trevon smiled back.

He continued his travel in frustration. Protecting the caravan wasn't as easy as he thought. Everywhere demon beasts and wild animals kept attacking. Every hour a demon beast pack would attack them.

[Are they mad?] Trevon felt confused. He sent '1.000 Holy Flashes' toward another group of wild animals. It was another easy victory for their caravan.

"Nope. This is the effect of this forest."

The sanctuary slowly turned into a temporary post, a village, a small city, before became as large as half of Redwood City. Humans had installed four crystals to protect the city. The city only reported infrequent attacks by one powerful demon beast. Every time, a Peak Rank 3 demon beast would attack the city. Meanwhile, if the human tried to increase the city size a group of powerful Peak Demon Beast would attack the new area. Therefore, a balance was achieved.

Inside the forest, there were no small villages. Only hunting outpost with very few people. Somehow those locations also safe from any attack, but any increased would meet with aggressive Peak Rank 3 demon beasts.

Humanity had taken that as an unofficial rule from the Demon Beast King. However, the guide stated the king was a mystery. It had never tried to communicate with the human regarding territory.

Trevon continued to read his travel book. He read the souvenir from the forest. It stated demon beast body parts were the main products of the city.

After a while, the caravan didn't meet any attacks. Trevon finally could see the city.

[Eh?] He saw a large post was built outside the gate. Many wagons were checked before entering the city. [Did something happen?]

Grand Elder Pieter exited the caravan and greeted the captain. Some guard quickly checked McArthur caravan first. As a great family, they had the chance to use the large gate.
