12 Chapter 12

May was the first one to break the silence.

May: What was that thing?

Sebastian: I don't know, maybe it was a new type of ghoul like the one we fought yesterday.

Sapphire:I don't think so, usually a ghoul is a dead person brought back from the dead yes? This thing seemed to be a different thing completely.

May: We will tell Tim about this... For now lets carry on looking for people and supplies.

Everyone nodded and walked out of the room and closed the door behind them. After a few minutes they arrived at a cafeteria of sorts.

Junak: You think there is still some food left?

Sapphire: Lets go look!

Both of them ran off to the kitchen and started to look around. At one of the tables there was a puddle of blood on the floor and a cracked photo frame. Being curious at what is was May walked over and picked it up. The photo was of a smiling family, a man, a woman and a small girl.

Sebastian: You ok? He said as he stood next to her.

May: I was just thinking of my family...

Sebastian: You wanna talk about it?

He sat down on a nearby table.

May: I'ts like I told you when you arrived at the base, we were just driving back home, I had just won an archery tournament and we went out to celebrate. Everything was normal until something suddenly appeared in front of us making the car swerve out of control, forcing us to hit a tree. When I woke up both my parents were outside standing up being relived that they were alright and I was just about to call for them, when they suddenly screamed and red cracks appeared on them... They turned into ghouls...

Junak: What happened next? he said as he and Sapphire came back with chocolate bars for everyone and listened to the story.

May :I climbed out the car and tried to talk to them but they lunged at me and tried to bite me,Ii rolled out the way and saw that the trunk of the car was open and my bow was sitting there, pure instincts drilled into me by practicing day and night made me dash for it and draw an arrow. I begged them to stop but they didn't and lunged at me again,my finger let go of the string.

Sapphire: Did you kill them?

May: Yes..and after that I noticed the message of the plague starting and my status window unlocking. After that I wandered the city for food and supplies but stumbled upon the Eco park base and joined them.

Sapphire: I can kinda relate to your story... I was at my friend house and we had a sleep over. We were talking normally but she suddenly started having a seizure and red cracks appeared on her skin, she screeched and tried to bite me... I didn't want to hurt her so I just pushed her away making her hit her head against the table corner. Thinking that I had just killed her I was panicked and didn't notice that she was standing back up and lunged at me again. She pinned me to the floor and tried to bite my neck, pure primal instincts kicked in because I didn't wanna die so I grabbed a nearby trophy she had and hit her head over and over until she stopped moving... After the message about the plague I started to look for other people and found the Eco base.

Junak: My parents were over seas at the start of the outbreak. I was in school and the teacher turned and tried to eat us...I ran and didn't look back, that's when I arrived at the base and Tim put me in an assault team.

Sapphire: Putting a child in the world out there is kinda messed up isn't it?

Junak: He heard that I had a very strong skill and taught me how to use a knife so he said that was enough stuff to survive in the world, he treated me like his grandson so it wasn't bad it was actually comforting in this new world of ours.

Everyone looked at Sebastian that was eating his chocolate bar quietly.

Sebastian: What?

Everyone: Your turn to tell us your story!

Sebastian: Nothing much to tell my parents worked at the SHIFT power plant, earning average income and me being very smart got into schools with bursaries so they didn't have to pay a lot of school fees. They had to go to a different plant since they got a promotion... That was a while back....I live alone in a house they bought for me and I was in my room when I got the message and went downstairs to get supplies from the kitchen when my neighbor attacked me making me kill him and get my first level up.

They all nodded and seeing as story time was over they all left the hanger and met up with Tim.

Tim: Did you guys find something?

May: Yeah we found the man that sent the SOS... He didn't make it. We also have something to tell you.

So May told Tim about the videos and what was on them.

Tim: Dammit, first ghouls and now this new threat?

Just as they were talking a sudden screech was heard from the hanger that Sebastian and the team came from...

The same black mammal appeared and sprinted towards them.

Tim: Everyone be on guard!

One of the people that was at the front of the group shouted and thrusted with his spear towards the creature.The creature grabbed the pole in his mouth and from within it came a tongue that was unnaturally long. The creature suddenly grunted and the tongue suddenly got bony protrusions coming out the tongue, in one movement the tongue moved up to the persons head and moved quickly across his neck... Decapitating him instantly.

Tim: FORWARD! He shouted and people with shields and armor moved forward and boxed the creature in. Tim came from above and activated a skill.

Tim: [Mountain Slasher]

His sword glowed an orange hue and he slashed downwards taking the head clean off of the creature, killing it instantly.

Random Guy: Did you see that thing's tongue!

Random Girl: Yeah it was like it was razor wire!

Tim: I guess that is what we will call these things... "Barbed Wire".

Random Girl: Uhm I actually said razor wire sir...

Tim: Anyway we didn't find any survivors and discovered a new threat to watch out for, all and all its sounds like this was worthless, but we did find a lot of canned food and 4 power generators with a ton of gas as well so we can finally have power again. Now lets head back to the base.
