Chapter 1: Wake Up

Chapter 1

I was always told that "if you worked hard you could achieve anything." To an extent they were right. I did achieve my goal but I'm dying because of it. I could say I made it but for how long?

Was the pain and suffering worth the few years of satisfaction? Through my time of death I have had a chance to think of my life so far. Many people had my dream or goal and would do anything to achieve it even taking someone's life if it was necessary. All I could hope for now is if there was a chance to restart….. No not restart but to be better I should take that chance in stride.

The ground was destroyed and buildings were tattered and blood was splattered. And in the middle of it all was a man taking his final breath. "Please don't go, I still need you. You still need to keep your promise." "You already learned everything I could teach." "How can I live up to you? You were a savior to all." "Don't say that you're better than all of us. You're on your road just keep going. I trust it all to you. You are my gift to this world." Breathing his last breath the man closed his eyes and never opened them again.

I began falling into an infinite darkness. I'm curious if the religious were right, will I see golden clouds and singing angels, will I turn into a crow and live out my day, Or will the scientists be right? Will I just die? I guess I'll see soon enough.

Part 2

Drifting in a never ending emptiness was not my preferred way to spend an eternity, but it wasn't as bad as being forced to work in hell. Still this is super boring. Even though I have only been dead for a few minutes I think it seems like I have spent months just in this darkness.

But eventually the darkness was casted away with a gleaming light that was the brightest thing I had seen. Even though I don't know how long I've been in this darkness I knew that it was uncomfortable and I desperately wanted to reach that light. It felt like it took forever. But the light never dimmed, maybe the religious were right. Are there gods will I be seeing a choir of angels playing harps and golden clouds?

When I finally reached the light instead of all those wonders, I was greeted with blurred vision of a slimy substance, and was greeted with a loud excruciating noise. "What's going on?" I asked. "Wawa!" "I did it." Who is crying? As my vision and hearing became clearer I could hear a man saying "Congratulations Mrs and Mr Flyroe he is a healthy young boy and officially have had your second child."…What's going on?

Was I just born? Am I a new born child! So to some extent the religious were right just not the most known ones after death is new life I think.

It seems as if they are speaking something similar to danish. At least I can put the piece together to understand sentences.

Next after gaining the confidence to open my eyes again I was still greeted with what seemed to be a bright light. After adjusting to the light I was met with multiple people surrounding me and many torches to light the room. The deliverer was beside me inspecting me. I could assume that he was double checking I was in fact a healthy newborn. All but one thing checked out: why aren't we in a hospital and where were his equipment and his proper gear? If I didn't see the blood on his shirt there would be no indication that he was the one that delivered me. He just looked like a regular person with short blonde hair and a white coat.

From what I have seen I can assume I have been born in a poor household that could not even afford a real doctor, only some guy off the street who called himself one. Ah, if only I was born to a high ranker so I could live an easy life never asking for anything and always being taken care of. Instead I'm in a wooden bed with only hay as the mattress.

Accepting that I had been born to hobos I looked around to see who gave birth to me. She was my new mother. Though I could not see very well after looking at her for a few seconds I could tell she was very Beautiful she had long brown curly hair, and emerald green eyes. She had a warm and gentle smile. I could sense that she was very kind and had an abundance of empathy. Every feature of hers was gentle and warm, her cherry lips, her long eyelashes and her clear skin. Though I hadn't spoken a word to her it felt as if her motherly love was wrapping me in a warm blanket.

Reluctantly I shifted to the left of me to see a man who I thought was my father from his more awaiting eyes and wide grin that could only be achieved by an expecting father. Once we made eye contact he spoke with an energetic tone "Hara I'm your father I hope you don't mind if I call you Hara. Can you say Dada Hara?" Yes I do mind who calls their son Hara it sounds so weak. Who would be afraid if you heard General Hara was attacking, no one? You're right that's the answer, not a single soul.

Turning my head back to my mother and the doctor, the only sensible people in the room it seemed, they both seemed annoyed by my fathers antics because both of them scoffed while rolling their eyes. "Gavin, he was just born and having his first thought if even, do you really think he'll be able to say dada?" She asked with an annoyed look. Looking back to see my fathers response I got a better look of the man that helped in my new body's creation. He was a pretty built man with light blonde hair, and airy white skin. His facial features were not to be scoffed at; he also had a strong jawline and bold eyebrows that helped make the man look stronger, not to mention the hazel eyes that glimmered each second.

I could tell why my mother had a child with him ignoring the fact that he gave me a horrid nick name and expecting me to even spout a word when I was just conceived. I'll just assume it was the cause of adrenaline, happiness and excitement from having a child.

"He hasn't cried Doctor. I thought it was normal for baby's to be crying. Is he okay?" My mother asked, clearly concerned.

"He is fine not all baby's cry and besides I can tell he is a strong child so he toughed out the discomfort of being born at the get go." The doctor reassured while walking through the door. I'm surprised you know anomalies on how babies act given your inexperience.

Looking back to my left I could see that my father was happy that the doctor called me strong. What a meathead. Before opening the door the doctor stopped saying "Mrs.Flyroe please rest for a few more days and let me know if anything happens to you or Harald bye enjoy the last few seconds of quiet little one." He said to me. What does he mean? Just like that when he opened the door a grizzly of a man burst through the door with a blonde boy in tow.

"Was everything alright Frey, are you hurt, is the baby alright!?" The big man asked. "Shut up old man, check for yourself." So that my mothers name Frey was not bad, very unique, While thinking was abruptly picked up and passed to the humongous man. I knew the man was huge since the moment he burst through the door but when I got close to him I could actually see just how huge this man was. I was the size of his palm.

From the looks of it he was about eight feet tall. Everything about him matched his size, he had one of the biggest beards I had seen with three braids on it one on the left, right, and middle of his face. He had long dark brown hair that made him look like a grizzly bear. His hands were hard and looked trained. This man was an A pitta me of a warrior.

He finally spoke "Hello Harald I'm your grandpa you can call me Gramps." Unsurprisingly his voice was deep and gruff it made me shake but the thing that shocked me was that he is my grandfather how in what world none of my parents look like him. Am I going to look like him? So many thoughts are going through my brain right now but I could tell that this man was very caring and would protect his family at all cost and I could respect him for that.

Behind him I noticed a young boy who looked to be about the age of seven with blonde curly hair and hazel eyes. And copper brown colored skin. I could assume that this was the older brother the doctor mentioned. What was surprising was the fact he was that old my parents looked no older than 30 so they had to have this child when they were at least 23 assuming they went right back at it to have me. "Can I hold Hara?" The boy questioned. While looking up to the grizzly. "Sure thing little guy." The man said bending down to gently place me in the young boy's arms.

"Hi Hara I'm Olaf I'm your big brother. I promise to protect you and teach you a bunch of cool stuff so don't you worry cause your big brother always has your back." The boy was very kind but no matter how kind he was he still used that stupid nickname. Whatever I'll ignore it for now because I can't do anything about it after all I have baby arms.

"Okay Frey let's take you back to your room so you can rest, let's take you Hara to your crib isn't that right you're going to your crib aren't you." My father said while talking in a baby voice when it was directed to me.

While the grizzly picked my mom up and took her outside first to let her rest in her room my father had picked me up from Olaf. "Can I come with you to drop off Hara to his crib?" Olaf asked with puppy dog eyes "Of course this is your first job at the big brother role so do it right, got it?" My father questioned. "Sir yes sir." Olaf replied with a salute.

Once we started heading to the door I was struck with a sudden agonizing and destructive force that was called sleep deprivement. While this body just woke up I've been awake for a while. Well I'll get to know more about my situation tomorrow.

Part 3

The past few weeks of my time spent in this new body have been horrible. But the most uncomfortable thing about my few weeks of experience as a newborn was the fact I had absolutely no control over my bodily functions. At least I could move my arms somewhat but when it came to my bladder no matter how hard I struggled it always came out. In my past life I was known for having some of the best control in hand to hand combat and strategy.", but now I can't even control when I want to poop. How far have you fallen, General Knox.

The hobo place seemed to be a room for my parents and their outstretched family like the grizzly and my brother. Though I haven't got a chance to go outside, I can assume it's snowy because of how much torch's and insulation are in this house. I can assume we're maybe in the capital of people who rejected technology for a more medieval living style. It is strange wouldn't the council benefit if all areas had at least some electricity. Maybe they let them be, because they're not a bother.

But one day all of my hypotheses about where I was were thrown out the window.

"Hi Hara, do you want to fly?" Oh no what is this idiot going to do. Just like that I was snatched from the bed and was being thrown in the air. "Was that fun Hara?" No you buffoon who throws their two month old son five feet in the air. I swear when I get control of my arms I'm going to make you feel my full wrath.

Placing me on the side of the bed he left to get something that I had no clue of. "Wait real quick Hara dadas going to come straight back." Running off to who knows we're in this wooden house. Oh no shit, shit, shit. You bastard, why would you do this? Hah well might as well accept my demise. Just like that because of the lack of strength in my neck I started swaying but not towards the bed but to the ground. Well it was fun while it lasted. "Thwack!" "WaWaWA!!" "What happened Hara?" My mother said, rushing into the room. At least the carpet softened the blow. Anyway I'm glad the person with a brain is back.

"Did you fall, how'd this happen?" She asked while picking me up. "Oh no you have a little bruise." She placed me on the counter so I could be face level with her. She placed her hand in front of me and whispered "Healing." Suddenly a green hue omitted from her hands. I felt an overwhelming calmness like all pain had vanished. "All better now, right?" She asked with a warm smile.

After my mother found out it was because of my numty of a father he received the beating of a lifetime not just from my mom but from the grizzly as well.

Days later I am still wondering where the hell I am because it's not earth.

My parents Mrs and Mr Flyrow, seemed like decent and respectable people besides the occasional slip ups of uncivilized actions. But besides that they were one of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of being around. My mother was like Mary from the Christian bible, kind and loving to her husband, son and her baby. I also suspected she was an angel sent by god. There is no woman that I have met that has been so warm and kind to me, maybe because I'm her offspring but nevertheless she is kind, warm, and always has a welcoming smile on her face.

Later when I was about a month old my mom took me outside with a sort of baby holder. She took me to the town from what could deduce my family lived in the hills. This town was called black stone which was filled with people who looked like the grizzly. No matter how big the people were in this town the area was no bigger than an average military base in my world. All the buildings were made out of wood and had strange creatures carved in them with even stranger colors to boot.

But in the town there were also a few merchants with tents and stalls set in the corner to sell some items like food, water, steel, and most importantly swords. While these things weren't too far fetched you could make money off of them. But the thing that confused me was the fact that some were selling weird shiny stones that came in many shapes and sizes, some that were perfect circles and ovals or jagged spiky shapes. Was this man scamming these people into thinking such stones existed. No I can't think like that anymore as I've already seen first hand these people have abilities never seen before for all I know those stones can be common.

While many things were strange, the undisputably strangest thing about this place was the fact that people had axes, swords, spears and other weapons around them like it was some average jewelry. Even some children had swords. In my world you would need to pay a hefty price to get an average wooden sword and you would need to save up for most of your life just to get a real sword and that was only after you went through the required amount of training.

For an example of how common these swords were, a man about six eight was carrying around a sword that was bigger than him. Are there no rules restricting how swords are used in this world because that is too dangerous for just anybody to have. My mom while we were on strolls took every chance to help me learn the language and helped me learn new things. While I could almost understand everything the people around me said I sometimes heard a word that was foreign to me. But after a few more trips to the town I think I understand the common language now.

While this world is Severely underdeveloped compared to my world, it has a pretty advanced currency system. From what I've learned their system is similar to the 2000s cent system. Because rank goes from lowest to highest is Bronze, Silver, Iron, Gold, Emerald.

To show the difference for how much there worth

10 bronze coins = 1 silver coin

100 silver coins = 1 iron coin

100 iron coins = 1 gold coin

10 gold coins = 1 emerald coin

Besides the few major differences I think I can get used to this world. I just have to get rid of this horrible control over my body.

Part 4

After heading to town and seeing too much I got tired and fell asleep on my mother's shoulders. When I woke up I saw Olaf and my father sword training. Olaf had a very elegant way of sword play. He knew which move he was going to do and always had a plan. His downfall was no matter how much you planned if the person you are fighting is so overwhelmingly more powerful than you the plan goes down the drain. My father on the other hand though it was obvious he was not trying at all I could still tell he was an expert at his craft none of his body parts went against what he wanted to do he was in full control of himself. I observed the fight some more. After Olaf started getting tired I could tell he stopped planning his next move and became more sporadic. And just like that my father sweeped Olaf's legs then placed the sword in front of him.

"Good job today you are getting better but stop quitting halfway you have a good brain, use it not just sometimes okay? Training is over, go wash up and if you want to know more about magic and mana you better hurry cause I'm not waiting." Gavin said with a his common grin. "Got it." Olaf said, rushing into the house to wash off.

After taking off the gloves my father walked to a little storage place and walked out with an axe the size of his forearm. He began to swing the axe in motions that I couldn't follow for a second. I could tell this was his weapon of choice. He continued with these motions even cutting down a few of the trees. One swing of his axe was sharp enough to cut boulders and when the blade flew through the air it sounded like it cut air and sound itself. Okay he somewhat redeemed himself.

After seeing and experiencing all these new things I can deduce that this world is filled with warriors and magicians. And similar to my world depending on how good you are in your respective category is what determines your rank in society.

I could see a lot of differences and similarities to my old world while we embraced technological advancement. They chose to stay with a more 1600's living style. But the biggest difference is the source of power while this world has magic and mana my world had something called Eso.

In my world ESO was a found power that was discovered in 2050 by the Greek scientist Doce. He researched the human inner body, and found some type of power source at the top of your brain. He hypothesized that this has always been around but since we had no need for it was only used to power the brain and inadvertently the body as a whole. Because of this discovery government's tried to make this new power their own and they did.

ESO was used to make the military stronger and have more control over their body's. Governments thought this was all and were content but in 2080 a man named Thomas Bru found out that you could strengthen your self to even greater extents with ESO. And after that many others discoveries took place to the point that we were able to control elements like fire from torches or the ground we walk on and some could Manipulate the night sky. All people had specific traits of ESO that could only be used by them.

ESO became a major player on how the world worked if you did not have an abundance of ESO you probably weren't going to live lavishly. But if you did you can enroll in an Academy to learn how to control your ESO. Also because of ESO, the military and governments were flipped on their heads. Everything revolved around this power source. Instead of having wars with multiple soldiers with machinery disputes would be solved with a General and his soldiers.

It was called the kings game. Something similar to chess. A General would pick 12 people and give all of them separate roles. The other Generals would do the same. After the roles have been set the Generals will be set in a terrain and duke it out with the separate General whoever won the battle won the dispute. These terrains were split into Aquatic, Land, Air, and Disaster. Most countries had a General for every terrain but some countries would have a general for multiple terrains and if a country had a general that was strong enough to cover all four then he was named king in that country one of undeniable strength.

In some cases this was smart not forcing citizens to be harmed unnecessarily but placing the future of a country on the back of 12 people is idiotic in my opinion.

Generals are trained professional soldiers in the arts of hand to hand combat and weaponry so they looked nothing like the traditional Generals in the 1300s. But no matter how strong they are, they are still human. If a General loses a battle all the blame goes on to him a whole country's wrath is placed down onto one person.
