40 What is my precious koala doing?

Sara browsed through some of the pictures. They were taken when Sam was seen flirting and teasing the female employees. This made him look like those second generation's rich and playful hires. Sara gritted her teeth. If her best friend gets hurt due to this man, she would not hesitate to shoot. But, that would give him an easy death, right? She would…

"What are you thinking? Dark thoughts again?" Allen interrupted her thoughts.

Realizing the pressing and dark aura she was giving off, Sara sat up straight and took a deep breath to calm herself. Any normal person would scurry to their feet if they saw her like that, but Allen was used to it.

"I cannot help it", Sara said, shutting off the laptop screen, "You call this feast for my eyes."

"Well", Allen ran his fingers through his hair, "I…"

"It would have been, if I was planning to bring someone down, slowly and painfully through mental torture. To crumble someone's image. Whatever it is, you can't call that a feast for your eyes."

"Okay, I know. I understand. You care about Ruby, so do I", Allen stated.

"Oh?" Sara raised a brow.

"I mean, if he that brat is cheating on her, we will have to make sure that he does not hurt her anymore, right?"

"I see that you still have some brains, huh?" Sara smirked in a sinister way.

"Don't make that face", Allen ranted.

Just then, Sara's phone rang.

"Pfft!" Allen chuckled, "You still use that boring and passé, old-school ringtone?"

"Why bother? I just need to be notified that someone is calling me. Isn't that enough?" Sara retorted.

Allen was still chuckling. But, she could not be bothered because the one who was calling was rather her special someone. So, she stood up and walked up to the giant picture window.

"Hello?" her tone was rather sweet and pleasant to the ears, rather her haughty one. It caught Allen off-guard, as he nearly fell off from his chair.

"What is my precious koala doing?" Riley was grinning, as understandable from his tone.

Sara let out a soft chuckle, "Nothing much. You?"

Behind her, Allen was scratching his head like a fool. Did he hear something wrong? Who was this courteous lady in front of him?

"Nothing. That's good. You better come and stand with your back towards the door and facing the windows."

"I am standing right there. But why?" saying so, she looked around cautiously to see if he was hanging from somewhere like Spiderman, or doing some of his antics.

"You see", he spoke explanatorily, "If you happen to laugh, smile and show off your sunny side, won't they get heart attacks? And then, there will be huge headlines tomorrow on the front page of every newspaper claiming, EMPLOYEES AT TIARA SUFFER MASS HEART ATTACK! THE REASON BEHIND THEIR SUCCESS? Not only that, the family members of the employees will flock into your headquarters, demanding compensation and they will sue you for your ethereal beauty. Will that be great?"

Sara's smile grew wider and wider with each passing word and the dramatic way Riley was using until she finally laughed out loud. It was a clear, hearty and warm laugh.

Allen slumped back in his chair. When was the last time he had heard her laugh so hard? Indeed, he could not remember. But, he was curious. Who was this great entity capable of making the Empress laugh so loud?

Thinking about it, he glanced behind at the glass door to see if anyone was looking in here. If someone happened to see this, it would be a horrible mess! To remind her of that, Allen deliberately coughed. Only to be glared at by Sara.

"Let me tell you", Sara changed her sunny side back to a serious one, "Don't move about alone. I am not sure how much they saw last night. Do you get me?"

"How am I moving alone? I always drive around with a car", Riley replied.

Sara could not help but smile at his ingenious ways. Then, she said, "I mean that you should bring along some people with you. Perhaps some bodyguards."

"I understand that I have a good body and it has good guards. You see, I wear branded clothes."

Sara shook her head and her smile grew wider, "You are hopeless!"

"How am I hopeless?" he retorted, "You should have told me that a few days back. Now I have you and so I have hope."

Sara was beyond speechless. She really didn't know what to say. But, when she looked up, she saw herself on the reflection of the glass window. She saw herself smiling. She could tell that this smile of hers was genuine. Not the calculative and hideous smile she usually had.

"Hey! Whom are you talking to? I'm still here", Allen interrupted her train of thoughts.

"None of your business", Sara snapped without looking.

"Who was that?" Riley asked from the other end.

"No one. Just an annoying fly", Sara replied.

Behind her, she saw Allen scowl through the reflection.

"Oh!"

Just then, Sara heard some commotion from inside. She arched her brows.

"What's going on?" she asked.

"Ah! Wait a minute", Riley spoke, sounding busy.

Sara patiently waited, pressing the phone against her ear. On the other hand, Allen was starting to get impatient.

"Riley, I really love you!" Sara heard someone say, admiration evident in the voice.

Sara frowned.

"Thank you", she heard him say.

"Who was that?" she asked, her voice sharp.

"Just some... social butterflies!"

Sara's eyebrows raised higher. What butterflies? Did he always get confessions out of nowhere? She really needed to tighten the security around him. Whatever he was up to all these years, she could care less about that. But now, she would make sure that each fly would disappear who would dare to come closer to him. Thinking about all these, her face became ugly as hell and cold as ice. While on her face, a smirk hung that was sweet as sugar, swift as poison.
