5 Fight!

I pushed myself up, and to my surprise, the ax followed with ease. I knew it was not due to my own strength, it had to be...

"Scarlet?"

The handle vibrated in my hand, "Marcus, we have to fight!"

I bit my lip as I confirmed my suspicions. The once red headed hot girl was now a sword in my hands. Neat.

An urge to dodge tickled the back of my neck. I let the axe pursue into the ground and quickly turned around. Conk already in full swing.

I hastily stuck the sword out like anyone who held a katana would. Somehow Scarlet shifted in my grasp and deflected the sledgehammer with ease.

Ouch!

That hurt and I almost dropped her but I kept moving forward. The blade was brought down to my thigh and I quickly slashed upwards.

There was a moment of silence before Conk literally exploded into a ball of fire and was thrown backwards into a bundle of fallen trees.

"Brother!"

I quickly dove away as Gondar tried to grab me with his monstrous fingers. I dug my foot into the ground and brought Scarlet down like a hammer. His fingers detached from his hand and ignited into flames.

"Arrrrgh!"

Gondar roared as he shoulder charged me. I did not have time to dodge. He collided with my body and sent me spiraling backwards.

My body cracked as I crashed into one the many trees. Everything became blurry, and I fell to my knees.

Fuck, that hurt way more then I could have ever thought. It felt as if my back was being ripped apart slowly.

"Marcus get up, please."

Her voice bounced around my head and finally centered in my focus. I took a step forward and cut the air, an arc of flames cascades across the forest, burning everything.

Woah, I did that based on instinct. Hell, most of what I was doing was just on a whim.

Gondar rose from the flames, ax at the ready.

He started to walk, then jog, and finally he was in a full sprint toward me.

I winced as I gained speed also.

He brought his axe down one last time and I quickly flung Scarlet outwards aiming for his lower abdomen.

I screamed, a cut forming on my chest. Collapsing to the floor, I quickly ripped my hoodie off. Gondar stood still, stuck like a statue. Relief filled my body as the cut was only skin deep. I let out a painful sigh. Noticing Gondar I tried my best to stand. I fell onto my back once again.

"He's dead."

Scarlet whispered those cold two words. They sunk into my mind and the realization that I killed something erupted in my head.

My eyes welled up with tears and the pain slowly drained my consciousness.

"Ahooooooo!"

I snapped my head forward, two ravenous hounds foaming at the mouth.

Why, me?

I quickly pushed myself up and as I did, they leaped forward. I was way to dizzy to think. I could barley even formulate thoughts.

"They are scared of fire!"

Scarlet beckoned.

Fire....

Fire, oh right. Without a second thought I sluggishly slashed outward.

Nothing.

What, before I did it just fine?

I used whatever power I had to dodge the first iron claws that wanted to see my lunch.

"God damnit,"

My body wanted to just give in, collapse. Maybe being a savior was out of my reach.

"Marcus."

Damn, That one word ignited the drive to live. The drive to fight. One word echoed throughout my head.

Survive.

Giving everything I had, I swung one more time.

My vision went blurry as a explosion of flames engulfed the hounds. Howls of pain jarred my ears. I collapsed to the ground.

Everything went black.
