4 Abilites

After conjuring his first Water Ball spell a new page openend up in Zale´s Grimmoire. Under the section Water there stood neatly organized the words he used for the spell.

<Great. Now I can at least use one spell without having too much of a problem. One Thing I don´t quite get though is the "Expierence Bar" that I can see right next to the spell. It says "0.5% Expierence, Level 1". I wonder what that means.>

"Hey Zero", Zale said in his mind to his uninvited companion, "any ideas on what this means? I never heard of spells having Levels."

-" Sorry kiddo. I can´t tell you anything about the present that was given to you."-

<Ugh, fine. I guess i just have to figure out what happens when the expierence reaches 100%?>

Zale finally got out of the river to prepare for the work day at the Kale family. He could use magic now, but other that the Water Ball spell he really wasn´t proficient with expelling mana from his body to cast any other spells.

<I don´t know why i have this many problems with even casting the smallest of spells. My word count barely reaches 100 but even then I shouldn´t really have any problems with using those I have. At least that´s the way it works for Kale.>

Cleaning, fishing, fetching water, all of the household stuff had still to be done and so it got late evening when Zale finished his business and got back to training his magic.

Just when he was about to start Kale entered his room

"Zale, we need to talk.", with a grim looking face on the otherwise happy looking man he started to talk. "I know we offered you shelter when you had nowhere to go, and I am really thankfull for the work you provided for us. But I think it´s time for you to move on.

I am unsure why you are having problems with magic but you won´t find the answer here. Remember the robes we found you in? I am almost certain that you have amazing talent in magic and that you could become some kind of bighshot if you put your mind into it.

My advise is the following. Go to the magic acadamy here in Liviana and see if any one recognizes you. Explain your situation and a lot will probably become clearer. I´ll give you some food and traveling equipment so that you might have a save journey."

-"I se...", Zale´s eyes got watery. Since he can´t remember anything this guys was like a father to him and he acted accordingly. It saddened him to leave but he also had a strong urge to find out what happened to him.

"Thanks for everything Kale. During the past 2 weeks you were like a father to me and I appreciate everything that you have done for me. Not everyone would accpet a stranger with memory loss in his house. I´ll take my leave first thing next morning."

With that said Kale nodded slightly and left the room. They were both men, so any more words would just be wasted.

<Well. Since I´m going to travel i´d better prepare an attack spell. I can´t just go around spalshing balls of water in the faces of wild animals. I need something light, that I can cast everywhere and fast. Wood is probably a good idea but the only words I have for those are Cube and Walk. Air is the next best thing that´s always available but without proper control I won´t do much damage at all.>

While Zale was at a loss for what to do Zero suddenly chimed in and offered some actual help:

"You know that water is basically everywhere right?" he asked and Zale could hear the annoyance from his tone. It was as if he was speaking with a child that didn´t know how to breathe.

-"Yeah, so what? It´s not like I am any better with water than I am with the other elements and Water isn´t really known for it´s destructive power"-

"Ohohoh, are you not? I suggest that you should check your progress more often then." And with that beeing said the voice in Zale´s head was quiet again.

<Did he mean the chalkboard thing? What good would that do me now? I don´t know what spirit and that stuff means but I guess it´s worth a try. "Zale">

Surprisingly there was a new line there now. Under Abilites there stood now

"Proficency in Water Magic: Lvl 2"

<Okay. So I am better with water magic. At least according to this thing. So what can i do with that? Does it make it easier to push mana out of my body to cast water spells?>

Random thinking wouldn't get him anywhere so he tried it out. All he wanted to do was to fill his cup with water. Everything thats needed for that is the single word. Water.

So keeping the word in his mind he tried to circulate his mana flow with closed eyes. He could feel the mana inside him and much to Zale's surpries his mana got a new colour! From the milky white it had earlier it had gotten a tinge of blue.

Instead of a raging storm this time around his mana felt like calm and soothing waves inside him, that he could actually command. Like a tidal wave Zale commanded the mana to burst through his skin and only a second later it broke through, conjuring water in his cup.

<Who knew that magic could be this easy?> Zale almost couldn't contain his happiness.
