4 Fighting For Justice

SHANAYA'S HOME

6 PM

As the slightly red sun descended, I felt like it was a sign of my career's downfall. Even if it means failure again, how deep can my fate make me fall? After facing all those hurdles, life challenged me once again, testing my patience. This news had struck me so hard that I lost all the patience I had. News of involving in drug smuggling… It's close to impossible for me to get up from here. If Parth doesn't support, circumstances will be even worse than before.

How long? For how much longer can I remain a meek person? For how long should I rely on my fate?

At this moment in my life, my thoughts reversed. Changed from what I was thinking.

It would be nothing but a fight. Fight for justice. Fight to survive.

I was sure that I couldn't compromise any more with my passion, passion to act. Even if it is meant to rise up when those nasty people have buried me, I will stand up again.

This confidence turned my perspective, of the sun being the sign of my downfall, to the last ray of hope…. The last ray of hope… Parth.

I don't know what to call it as, but when Oliver texted me that he succeeded in contacting Parth, for me it was the hint. A hint by God that I have chosen the right path to accomplish my dreams.

He texted me to get ready ASAP. He would come here to pick me for Parth's office. They had agreed to a meeting.

As soon as the thought of facing him again after 10 years, it made me quite queasy. I knew how he would feel right now. He won't go easy on me. Nor would he be pleased to hear that I will be meeting him.

Irrespective of what he feels, I will face him, breaking all the promises to stay away from him.

PARTH'S OFFICE

8 PM

I was waiting for around an hour in the grand reception hall. It was not the same as it used to be before. It was renovated, according to Parth's taste. Oliver was busy checking the news updates on his phone.

I could only pass my time by examining the hall. The walls were all shining as if made of gold. I knew Parth liked gold but turning the whole hall into something like this was unexpected.

Floors made with Italian marble, soft cushioned sofas, staff members assigned those brilliant uniforms, tight security and what not. This wasn't the scenario from years before.

"Excuse me, ma'am"

A lady with a neat black uniform appeared before me.

"Yes?"

"I wanted to inform you that you may have to wait for an hour again."

She had null expressions on her face. It was enough to tell me that she wasn't pleased with my presence. Still, I gave her a blunt smile.

Oliver was already agitated by their rude behaviour. They promised him to meet at 7 PM. It was already an hour late.

"What is the point of such rudeness?"

He was smashing his teeth at the time I turned to him

It was natural

"Oliver, calm down. They can dismiss this case through money. We can't. We surely need help. So remember we are the ones who are seeking help. We have to wait patiently."

"If this was not you, I don't think he would have done this."

"Mhm. He is the CEO now. Maybe there are loads of work to finish."

"Excuses! Isn't he worried about his situation?"

"These speculations may wreck my career but not his. Money is the key, Oliver. Money is the key."

This answer was enough for him to keep quiet. Of course, he agreed to what I said. Who won't agree?

I was done with inspecting the hall for an hour. The only thing left to do was waste time on my mobile phone.

I had stopped using the phone for a decade. Not because I believe I will become a phone addict, but I will start hating myself if I spent too much time in it.

Those comments on my pics on social media, those reviews people give to my non-commercial movies, the way men look at me… It would just break me. And I can't afford to do that. At least at this point in time.

So I took out my phone and instead of opening social media, I plugged in my ear pods to calm my mood with music.

Music made me feel relaxed. I don't know how Oliver passed his time but I did it easily.

And the time came, where we were about to meet Parth.

When I saw to my left, the same lady was approaching me with null expressions. She was so lively with others unlike towards me.

My only concern was if she had the same news, to wait. Or the time had literally come.

It could be anything, but her expressionless face made it difficult for me to anticipate.
