I believe life is like a book. As children, we start out as blank slates, with a completely empty book. As we go through life, we add more words about good moments and the bad into the book, filling up the pages with information. Well, this book is my life. It holds the good memories and the bad, even the traumatic ones, it’s all there. I can’t erase what’s on the pages no more than any of you can, but I can learn how to deal with it. It’s always helpful to have someone else’s book to base yours off of, so welcome to my book. Welcome to my life.
Do you ever have dreams? Well.. I have dreams. Except, my dreams are dreams of the future. Whenever I close my eyes, I can see something happening either soon or later in the future.
I'm just a normal person, I get good grades and have good friends. I don't know why I in particular deserves this ability. I guess that's just how fate wanted it. I honestly wish I didn't, because the morning when I woke up with these abilities.. Nothing was ever going to be the same. Oh yeah, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Rose Smith, and this is the story of how my entire life changed.
-----‐-------------------------------------------------------------------
She awoke with a loud gasp and sweat beads dripping down her face. All she could see was her older sister dying. The image of her sister walking across the street and then getting hit by a car, her body flinging several feet just kept repeating over and over again. ``Rose, you need to calm down. It was just a dream.`` She whispered to herself. After she managed to bring herself down from her panic attack, she slowly got out of bed and grabbed her phone of the charger. ``It's already 10:53?! Oh how grateful I am that school is cancelled because of parent/teacher conferences.`` Rose got up, stretching and yawning, trying to remember when she fell asleep last night. She stumbled into her own little bathroom, then went to go brush her teeth and wash her face. While she was brushing, she could hear her mum calling her down for breakfast, ``Rosie! Come down and eat. I let you sleep in enough.`` Rose hurried up and spit out the toothpaste, ``Coming mother!`` When she got to the table and sat down she told her mum, ``Wow mum, that smells good.`` Her mom, Alexandra, gave her a look before telling her, ``Are you that surprised? My cooking is not that bad.`` Rose looked at her mom, trying to hold in her laugh while saying, ``Totallly~`` She looked over and saw her older sister, Elizabeth, looking at her with smile on her face. ``Morning Ro-Ro. How'd you sleep?`` When Rose looked at her, all she could see was her lifeless body on the ground in the middle of the road. Rose quickly averted her thoughts and answered back, `` Oh, I slept fine. I just had a bit of a nightmare, and no. I would not like to talk about it. How did you sleep Lizzy?`` Her sisters eyes narrowed, before telling her, ``I slept pretty good. Today is my big job interview! It's all the way on the other side of town, but it has a good pay.`` Both Rose and their mum looked at Elizabeth with a smile, pride showing through their faces. ``That's good Liz, but I don't think you should go-`` Rose remembered seeing a name tag on Lizzy's shirt when she died. 'If that was just a dream, how did she know Elizabeth had a job interview? And more importantly, does it mean that if she gets the job, she will still get killed?..' Rose's train of thought was broken when Lizzy spoke out. `` Rosie, I know you want me to stay with you, but your a big 16 year old now. You'll be fine alone.`` Rose's face contorted into a confused expression. ``Thats not what I'm talking about- I had a dream last night you would get killed.. And when you died, you had a name tag for that company you are trying to get a job at. What if it's going to happen?`` Elizabeth looked at her little sister, trying to hold in a laugh. ``Rosie, dreams are exactly that, dreams. They are not real. To make you feel better, on my way home I'll give you a call, alright?`` Rose looked at Elizabeth with a questioning look, ``Fine. But I want a call right away!`` After their conversations was over, they all dug into the pancakes that their mother made for them. Both Lizzy and Rose said, ``Thanks mom, this is good!`` at the same time and then giggled afterwards. After Lizzy took the sausage and made herself walrus teeth, Rose told her, ``Are you sure your 25 and not 10?`` Elizabeth responded with a big walrus smile and then took a big bite out of her 'tooth'. Both Rose and her mum laughed at her ridiculous antics. They all ended up cleaning off the table before Lizzy had to go. ``Bye Lizzy! Promise you'll be safe.`` Lizzy responded with a smirk and, ``I'm always safe. Dreams aren't real silly goose, but I'll be 'cautious' to make you feel better. `` The pair of sisters exchanged smiles with each other. Who would have known that would be the last time Rose would ever see her sister ever again?
