2 Campus Beauty

Yan shu's face darkened, and the air around her turned cold.

"Don't mind them Yanyan," Song yun tried to change the subject. "Come, let's eat, I'm hungry." She pulled Yan shu by the arm towards the canteen.

The university is nicknamed as Goodie Foodie university by its students because of the good food by the canteen, it is one of the best in the country, on par with the finest restaurants.

Similar to the library, the canteen is much bigger than normal, being divided into two floors. The ground floor housed all sorts of food, from desserts, pastries, junk food and much more, from various parts of the world. As for the first floor, it was where the kitchen and various staff rooms were located, and it was inaccessible to the students.

They both ordered their meals and sat down to eat. Yan shu chose a simple bread omelet. Song yun, on the other hand, stuffed herself with her favorite pork stuffed steamed buns along with a soup. Yan shu chuckled at her glutton friend. They finished eating and were about to leave when someone bumped into Yan shu.

The woman had a square face, petal-shaped eyes with short eyelashes, a pointed nose, thin lips and a similarly pointed chin. She could only be described as beautiful, similar to Yan shu herself. But her beauty was too dependent on her makeup, whereas Yanshu's was much more natural.

Her name was Han Shuya. She was a rich, arrogant and spoiled brat who loved to be in the spotlight. And above all, she hated Yan shu to her bones.

*****

Two months earlier.

Across the campus, on each and every notice board, one poster could be found on full display. The College Beauty contest. Han Shuya already had quite an ego, which was only inflated by her adulating friends. She believed herself to be the most beautiful woman on campus, and this contest would be the perfect way to prove it, as well as garnering everyone's attention onto herself.

To participate, one just needed to post a photo of herself on the college forum, and the students would vote to decide the winner.

Han Shuya decided to go all out to win. She hired a professional photographer and spent more than two days posing in all sorts of attires and positions, with one more day spent solely to choose the best picture.

When the contest officially started, she uploaded her photo on the first day of the contest.

On it, she wore a red, half shoulder dress with an accentuated cleavage and an even more accentuated skirt slit which rose all the way to her mid-thigh. One hand rested on her waist while the other pinched on her slit, revealing just a bit more of her long leg. Her hair flew in the wind, with her head slightly lowered and her glimmering eyes looking straight at the camera, like a lioness locked onto her prey. She was the definition of a femme fatale.

Everyone thought that Han Shuya would win the contest with that stunning pic.

But against all odds, Lu Yan shu would be the one to win. And worse of all, with just a random photo.

Yan shu had only agreed to participate after Song yun nagged at her for days. When she said yes, Song yun jumped and almost suffocated her by how tight she hugged.

They both walked to a small park on the campus and took a photo, after which Song yun began pestering her to do a more provocative pose.

Finally, Yan shu couldn't take it anymore and stormed off, ordering her friend to forget about the contest. And as the great friend that she was, Song yun ignored what Yan shu said. Since her friend wouldn't give poses she decided to take random pictures. she submitted a photo that looked good.

On it, Yan shu wore a knee-length, white floral dress as she bent down and plucked a single flower from the ground. And by chance, a butterfly had landed on her hairband just as the photo was taken.

The photo was a stark contrast to Han Shuya's. The former was cute and adorable while the latter was somewhat intimidating. And so, Yan shu ended up receiving more votes and eventually won the contest, becoming the year's Campus Beauty.

When that happened, Han Shuya simply lost it, throwing around vases, clothes and anything else she could find in her room. She even blamed her photographer, making sure he couldn't find any more work and forcing him and his family to leave the country.

After this, Yan shu became the greatest enemy in her eyes.
