Chen Mu Sheng, along with Go Jichen, arrived at the Emerald Pavillion. That was the name given to his private mansion. Painted black and white, it had multiple lights throughout its exterior, and they were all lit up as it got dark.

To acquire it, Chen Mu Sheng had to pull a lot of strings at the government. Those who didn't want to play ball are now out of the government. No exceptions. No one with power was without skeletons in their closet, and he made sure to expose the secrets of all who stood against him.

From that day forward, no one dared to oppose him. But one thing that no one knew, was why he wanted to buy the place. Probably only he knew the answer to that.

Go Jichen slumped on the couch. Chen Mu Sheng went up to his bedroom and left the shopping bag inside his wardrobe. After a quick shower, he returned to the living room. Butler Chen waited for him to inform that dinner had been served.

The man was completely loyal to the Chen family. When Chen Mu Sheng decided to live by himself at the Emerald Pavillion, his mother only agreed on the condition that he took butler Chen along.

Chen Mu Sheng had dinner with Go Jichen. After that, he retired to bed.

The following day, Yan Shu arrived home from college. She didn't stay long, as she still had to hand her resignation letter at the Chen Group. To her surprise, her team leader immediately accepted the letter and took care of her severance package. Using part of that money, she bid farewell to her colleagues with some food and drinks.

Arriving back home, she didn't find Song Yun. Too tired to think about it, she slumped on the couch and took a nap. When she woke up again, it was already evening, and only then did she recall the dinner with president Chen.

Yan Shu didn't let herself panic. Instead, she wanted to message her friends and ask why they didn't remind her. To her surprise, the Crazy Batch group on Weibo was full of messages. She had to scroll back a lot until she found the cause for the commotion.

While she had been taking care of her resignation, the Kim siblings' mother fell from the stairs. They had to call an ambulance and rush her to the hospital. Everyone else from the group read about it and headed there to offer some emotional support.

Yan Shu messaged Song Yun and found that her friend had already messaged her about what happened. "Hey, I was taking care of my resignation, and only now did I read about it. I'll contact that Tang guy and tell him that we have to postpone the dinner with president Chen."

Song Yun messaged her back soon after. "No, don't do it. We're already here with the Kim siblings. They're already feeling bad for their mother, no need to make it worse by making them feel like we missed our meeting because of them. Even if it's just you going, it's still better than nothing."

Yan Shu had to agree with that. "Okay. Good luck. Contact me if anything changes." With no other options, she started getting ready for dinner.
