2 Chapter 2: Resurrection

Home was far from the Roaring Immortal Sect's ancestral grounds. It would take me roughly two weeks of walking. I wasn't eager to go home so the journey went slower.

I decided not to stop cultivating. I still have the memory of the beginner's manual. So I recalled some of it. It couldn't be called a whole manual even if its beginner's though. But still, it is cultivation. I don't want to return being a useless human being. At least I'd be more useful than the village folks.

I was crossing the great mountain range of the region, Kwandu. This was a famous battle ground for immortals with peak level cultivations.

The known Dao of cultivation is categorized with 9 different levels in each of these stages; the Qi Condensation stage, Foundation Establishment stage. after establishment of dao foundations, the next stages of; Core Formation stage, Nascent Soul stage, and Spirit Severing are stages that is scarcely recorded through history.

Paragons or the Foundation Establishment stage cultivators who enter are mere flies against the mighty Godkings here. This is where Godkings, Core Formation stage cultivators are free to battle and would not be restricted with the surroundings. Kwandu is virtually the best place for legendary immortals to battle it out.

I was very curious, and went inside the mountain range. There were at least 10 huge mountains that would tower over the range averaging at 7000ft high. The tallest was Mt. Kunlun, if viewed from above, Mt. Kunlun would be the center of all these mountains. It was said to be at 10,000ft high. Not just everyone can reach its peak. On its outer layer, you'd find smaller mountains and hills.

Losing your direction here would render you lost and trapped inside the mountain range. Luckily, I made myself learn how to navigate using the celestial bodies. It was very useful too in skirmishes during the war.

I found myself a cave in one of the tallest mountains here. I was hoping to pick up lost treasures dropped by these Godkings. It would be very useful in facing greater threat. Godkings would basically wield treasures with more power. Of course, before reaching the cave, I was very careful not to disturb the beasts living inside the mountain range. These beasts are no joke either.

Beasts are identified as; Lower Kind Beasts, Divine Beasts, and Immortal King Beasts. Lower Kind Beasts are equal to cultivators up to the 1st stage of cultivation. And the Divines are equal to peak 2nd stage cultivators. Immortal King Beasts are the beast of legends, and is nowhere near a 3rd stage cultivator, but wouldn't be necessarily equal to Godkings. Godkings would still find it hard to hunt and kill these Immortal King Beasts.

Deeper inside the mountain range is home to many Divine level Beasts. Mostly living at Mt. Kunlun itself. The rest of these mountains would be herds of different kinds of Lower Kind Beasts. And with the level of my cultivation, facing even with a Lower Kind would be very dangerous and suicidal.

I treaded my way very carefully. Killed my way through two Lower Kinds with meager power and avoided those with greater danger.

The night was calm, despite being in the middle of chaos. Outside the cave was a small lake. Weak beasts would be left living in these kinds of lakes. Powerful beasts would compete for larger territory or lakes. I had cleared the lake of its inhabitants; there were only two weak Lower Kinds. More so they are great meals for a tired cultivator.

I cultivated for the rest of the night.

The next morning, I was awaken by a very loud blast from the sky.

BOOOOOOM!

I stood up and took cover. The blast was a kilometer away but still I couldn't get away easily from the attack.

"A battle of Godking's!" I thought to myself. I should get away from them. I couldn't think clearly. I saw the cave, and so I went running inside of it.

More blast came from outside. I could only imagine the exchange of attacks from both sides. After a while, there was only silence. The battle seems to have reached its conclusion. I didn't go outside of the cave immediately, and waited for a few more hours. This was my first encounter of a Godkings level of power.

I went outside to see the destruction. A huge crater appeared besides the near lake. This seems to be the final crash from the battle. My curiosity peaked and came running in the middle of the crater. There must be treasures inside.

In the middle was a dead muscular man with ripped black robe. The man seems to have taken huge damage with lots of holes in his body. Godking level of attacks really are lethal.

I poked his body around to examine his wounds. And to find Godking level treasures. Unexpectedly, the man groaned from the poking.

"Whaaat! Are you still alive?"

"Aaargh! You got me good this time brother!" the man announced to the sky. "hmmm.. Who are you?"

"I-Im just a passer.." I was shocked, but before I could answer, the man interrupted

"It's you! Boy! Why are you here?!" the man exclaimed

The man was dredged with the earth, earlier I couldn't identify him clearly. But as he looked at me I was dumbfounded. "ma-master?! Is it you?!"

"Haha! Cruel fate! To be reunited with my student at the doors of death! Could you at least give me some face?! HAHAHA" master laughed hardly and would be interrupted by a cough with mouthful of blood.

"Ma-master? It really is you! Senior brother sent me a letter and told me you died! How is this possible?!"

I just couldn't believe my eyes. It has been 3 years now since I've received the letter. And right in front of me, my teacher was still breathing. He is still alive after all!

Master sighed "Boy, I truly let you down big time." he continued to explain what had happened to him during the past. Turns out, he was being hunted by a powerful Sect from outside our region. He was hiding in our region for a long time, and was tracked down by a powerful Godking. He couldn't get our village and I, his student be involve in this matter. So he decided to disappear from us.

"My enemies couldn't be underestimated. In their eyes, this region of yours is but a dead zone fit for battles, and would never bat an eye exterminating its inhabitants if they found out that I made a connection to this region."

He looked at me sincerely this time "I had to leave you, and your village behind. This is the agony immortals like us endures everyti.."

His eyes went wide upon closer look at me. His energy surged like a raging water that would make a path for a new river. "You! You are cultivating the Dao?! How and who?!"

He coughed this time from his discovery. Another mouthful of blood went back to the earth.

I was feeling a lot of emotions. I don't know how to respond or even talk to the guy. I thought he died; now he's alive. And his asking questions of my cultivation.

"Master, a lot has happened since you left." It seems like all the loss I have experienced was coming back. Back then, I never knew how to react. But today, I felt angry.

I sighed all my anger and carried his sorry state back inside the cave.

"Master, you still have your healing ointments do you?"

Master was concocting different kinds of herbs. Most of it was to deal with healing. He could cure people with extreme haste. Not until I became a cultivator did I realize how great an alchemist my master was. And an alchemist would always ready himself of an ointment to cure himself if ever he would be in such predicament.

"I still do. You still remember?"

"Of course I would. I would never forget you master. For now, I will assist you in curing yourself. You should rest. I have lots of time, you know it. We can talk after your well."

"Smart brat! Haha come, ill teach you how to apply it then! I am finally dead in their eyes. So I have lots of time this time hahaha." The immortal who attacked master left knowing that he had died. It seems like master did something to hide his pulse. A cunning old man.

"Brat! Make sure you give me your story. Or else I'd be very mad about you taking another master! Cough- Cough"

I could only smile to his statement.
