1 The Beginning

On April 1st, 2011 I moved to California at the age of 18, with nothing much but a small suitcase with the necessities I needed. I was an orphan since I could remember and was always told that I would have to move soon. It's not like I hated living there, it was just the law that once you are 18 you are considered an adult. My apartment was a small place in a nice quiet neighborhood, but to me, it seemed as though it was endless.

It seemed to consume me, I wasn't used to living by myself and had thought it would be something easy but now I could see just how wrong I was. The more I stood there the more To stop myself from feeling sad I started to unpack what I had with me, then went shopping for daily necessities for living.

After shopping, I went straight to studying for the entrance test. I need to pass the next one in 3 and ½ months in order to attend the school I wish to go to. Four months had passed since I moved here and today I start school at Phoenix Drop. I'm not expecting much since everyone already knows each other and I'm just someone new. As I walked into the class to introduce myself everyone grew quiet.

" Hi my name is Emilia Neil, it's a pleasure to meet you all," I said.

The teacher smiled at me, "Ok, Emilia can you go sit down next to Kyle. Kyle,, please raise your hand."

A boy with black hair and blue eyes raised his hand, showing me who I would be sitting next to. As I walked down the row to my seat I could hear everyone whispering and calling him a freak. It confused me, why would they call him a freak, even though he looks so friendly? I took my seat next to him and began to take notes on the lesson when I heard snores next to me.

I glance over to my left to see him sleeping during class! The classless had only been going on for about 5 or 10 minutes. How is he able to fall asleep? I went back to taking notes but not just one but two now, hoping that he was just feeling ill and that's why he's sleeping. At the end of classwork, Kyle up and handed him the notes for today.

"If your feeling unwell tell me and I'll ask the teacher if you can go to the nurse. Okay?" I said with a smile. He just stared at me with a surprised expression on his face.

"Th…thanks." He mumbled while blushing and looking away.

This made me smile even more knowing that I was slowly gaining a friend in this new school. I didn't care about what others said I was going to get to know him before judging him.

"I'll see you tomorrow. I hope we'll get to talk more." I yelled out as I walked out of class.

"Y ... yeah!" He shouted back, waving to me with a small smile on his face.

As I was walking away from school a man I didn't know stopped me so I kept a reasonable distance between us.

"Hello my name is David Blank; I'm with the Stars Home Company, where they get young girls like you to try out for roles in movies or to model for clothes. I was wondering if you would be interested in checking it out. Here is my card, please think about it and stop by whenever you think you'd like to join." With that, he walked away looked for any other girls around to try and persuade them to join while giving them his card.

I stood in shock about what had just happened. I was unable to get any words out to have any say so in during the commotion. I stomped back the rest of the way home. As soon as I got home I went straight to studying for each of my subjects.

When night approached I had already been soaking in the tub, and I thought about what had happened today. I glanced down at the card I was given, and thought; Maybe I would try it out just for the heck of it, It's not like I'll get in or anything. As soon as I got out of the bath I got dressed and went straight to bed happy. For the first time since I moved here, I was looking forward to tomorrow.
