1 My name is what I am.

"Ember!? Do you think this is a good idea?"

"I don't know! But is worth trying."

Dean wasn't a big fan of his friend's idea, but he didn't had anything to lose at that point. He needed to try this at least once.

"This is stupid! I won't do this Adam! No one's written a letter in fifty years." he stood up.

He needed to try this, but he still thought that this is a bad idea. He thought at every little thing that could go wrong, but Adam insisted:

"You said you wanted to protect people, and with your sense I can tell that you are able to help. But with your stubbornness you will never accomplish what you want!"

"How do you know I can't?"

"Oh come on! What do you think you can do at only 17? If writing a letter is what you have to do in order to help, why can't you do it? Or your motivations aren't as strong as you always imply."

"My motivations are strong, but even if I write the letter, what makes you think that your detective acquaintance will take it seriously and not as a prank? You even said that the letter will be send anonymously!"

"Listen, all I can say is that we won't know until we try!"

"See! Even you aren't sure of what may happen! We may get arrested."

"Oh, can you shup up! Fine! If you don't want then that's that. I'm going home because I think I have a headache."

Dean was very troubled that night. He couldn't choose whether to listen to his friend or his mind, but what he doesn't know is that at a time like this, he needs his friends help the most.

He fell asleep—

"You daughter has amnesia and it may be permanent"

"Wha— It can't be—"

"Dad! I think that we need to be glad that she's still alive. Amnesia may not be so bad after all—"

"I think you are right... At least your eyesight is fine now..."

It was a dream, but at the same time, a reminder... He had recalled just a few phrases, but it would've been better it he couldn't recall them at all.

"Tears always fall when I wake up from a familiar dream" *

That was the only thing he said all morning, but I won't bet that his mind is as quiet as his mouth.

He decided—

"Fine! I agree! Show me how to write that letter!"

"What are you talking about right now? Let's wait until the classes are over."

After school they went to Dean's house.

"Let's start!"

"Wait! Why so sudden? What made you change your mind?"

"Nothing! I just thought that it may work in the end."

"Fine, let's say that I believe you this time. Ok! If you want to start the letter, you just have to write 'Dear detectiv,', then write about the thing that you were worried about a few days ago and at the end you write 'With respect, Ember'. That's all, easy right? Ah— and don't worry about the letter delivery, I'll take care of it!"

"Why are you in such a hurry?Slow down a bit! I just remembered that I wanted to ask you about the 'Ember' thing? What's that?"

"You were in a hurry first! Don't put the blame on me! Anyways, the question is simple and the answer is that I don't know either!"

"What? If you don't know then why do you say that is a simple question?"

"Because the word describes you perfectly:

—A small piece of glowing coal in a dying fire—

See! I got goosebumps just by saying the meaning."

"Wha—"

"Don't worry, that's just my interpretation, it could mean anything!—"

"Fine! If you say so... But don't you think you will escape with this. You have to give me some explanations!"

"Deal! Now you can start writing!

—And let the ordeal begin!—"

"Did you say something?"

"Nothing... just a thought..."
