8 Unexpected Counter/Truth

Ben looked on in horror, a technique that should only be possible for two beings in the entire world had now revealed a third.

"Surprising isn't it Ben, to be countered by your own so called 'secret' technique."

"Ho-how are you doing that, let alone using merely ice magic but a full on hardcore technique. Who would possibly have taught you? Is it even possible for you to know ice magic."

"Seems you weren't taught my lineage, but then again it's a secret handed dosn through our royal family and anyway anyone can combine any two given elements, or even three if you're strong enough. Just like your David has done with Ice and Light, I have done so with Fire and Ice."

Alzoth wasn't letting on he HAD combined a third, namely dark, although if one were to closer analyse his swords you would sense a dark aura about them.

"Ben, I will be willing to teach you if you defect to the Fire tribe."

"I would never, although I am new to this world the Ice elves have treated me as their own even under my strange circumstances."

"New to this World, do you think I was born yesterday, or maybe you were, but no child matures that fast."

Ben recognised the only ones who knew were the Ice Elves, word hadn't spread beyond that. He was now concocting a plan to figure out what Alzoth had meant earlier when he mentioned his lineage.

"I'll tell you how I 'grew so fast' if you tell me your lineage, and how ice magic came into it."

"Intriguing I see"

Alzoth whispered some words in another tongue and they were suddenly away from the battlefield, in a dark room.

"Now Ben, tell me of your circumstances."

"What guarantee do I have you'll explain yours to me."

"Although I may seem like an 'Evil' man to you, I am a man of my word."

"Pfft fine, I used to live in another world, but I died and got reincarnated here. That suit you enough?"

Ben felt kind of annoyed so explained it very briefly.

"What was this, other world, like. Maybe I could fancy a visit."

"It's got to be impossible to get back so I accepted it and stayed here. It was a bad boring world anyway, this one's better by far."

"Ho ho, self rejection. Sounds fun."

"Just... Just tell me how."

"Well long ago, there was a Prince of Ice that shared powers like yours."

"I heard of him, died in a fight."

"That waa just what we relayed back after destroying your army, my great-great-great grandmother had captured him. They were both in their early twenties at the time."

Ben was beginning to think they fell for each other "Oh I think I understand."

"So over the following decade the Prince was tortured until he submitted to her. She loved him at first sight, but he didn't reciprocate her feelings. After that long decade he became her personal toy."

"Okay, right"

"And then things lead to another as they do until eventually she births a child, this new boy would become King, as the first born of the family, but it was hidden from public knowledge that the father was an Ice Elf."

"So it never got spread around and you all kept it hidden."

"Yes precisely, and then the Queen forced the Prince, although not worthy of the title now merely being a tool submitted to an enemy tribe, taught his son in Ice Magic alongside the Queen teaching the boy Fire Magic. So it was passed doen through the family eventually to me, in hope of crushing you with your own power. This plan was devised 200 years ago and stands to now when I wipe out both you and David."

"Woahh, okay okay I got it"

"Maybe I should kill you now I told you, you could prove to be a pain were you to spread that word around."

The dark room vanished and they returned to the battle field. Ben turned, running away from Alzoth as he built an array, Ben formed a barrier "Deiss".

Yet the swords of ice and fire merely melted a path through, "Fuck I'm gonna die again" Ben thought as a sword pierced his back, moments later he lost consciousness.

David had been watching that spot since the mysterious disappearance of Alzoth and Ben, he nearly gave up hope after half an hour of waiting and protecting himself, but eventually he saw them come back. Due to being still about 50 metres away, he sprant towards it st the moment. Yet then Ben fell.

David stopped, ready to mourn, yet he decided to keep on pushing and destroyed the rest of Alzoth's swords with his own Icleus.

David grabbed Ben, fortunately David was strong enough and managed to safely escape to the healing mages near the backlines after an hour of hiking from one stretch to another.

At this point, both tribes had called a mutual treaty until the next day, being honourable as such.

"Please help this boy, he's important to the victory" David shouted at the healers.

"Don't hurry us we have many to attend to, wait in turn."

David could indeed feel a pulse from Ben, but it was beginning to grow faint. He surrounded one of the healers necks with swords.

"HELP HIM NOW, seriously, he has greater power than me which he hasn't recognised yet, so please."

"Okay okay we'll help your friend, set him down over here."

David carried Ben to where a makeshift ice table had been setup and placed Ben down.

The healer began to meditate and placed her hands on Ben's chest.

An ice blue aura surrounded Ben's body and the wound on his back cleared up, as seen from through the ice. After fifteen minutes she turned to David.

"Leave him to rest now, he won't be able to fight tomorrow unless he's some God or something." She threw in a chuckle and left to another patient.

David thanked her as she left and set up camp near Ben as to keep him company in any case.

This was totally fine until a woman he hadn't seen for ages straggled toward him weakly, not since rejecting him.

"Fancy seeing you here David."

Then she collapsed.
