243 Long lost daughter

Aria couldn't be bothered to search the hideout for her, her concentration was already too divided between moving Helen, the barrier in Helen's room, hiding traces of her bending around Helen, and Edmond.

Besides, she had to find out more about what Edmond had just said.

"Do you know who is my father?" Aria asked with narrowed eyes. The longer she could make everyone think she was queen Amber's daughter, the better for her.

Edmond laughed. "You already received the shock of finding out your mother is the queen not many hours ago. I think you won't be able to handle the shock of finding out who your father is."

Aria narrowed her eyes and jutted out her chin, "Really? Try me?"

Edmond shook his head with an exasperated sigh. He smiled and turned around. "I din't think Amber and he made for a very good combination. But, what do you know?!?! You're perfect! The perfect combination of a quick temper, but calm enough to reign it in. And your looks!! God! They truly are to kill for."

Aria felt weird hearing this speech, but made no reply as Edmond sat down at his seat on the head of the table. "Please, have a seat." he said, motioning to the chair at the opposite end of the table, across from him.

Aria sat down as she suppressed a smile, Helen was halfway to the Scott mansion. She interlocked her fingers on the table and stared fixedly at Edmond. He seemed to be deep in thought, blinked and looked at Aria. "So . . . . . " he said with a smile.

"So." Aria replied, in a deadpan voice with expressionless face. She wasn't going to initiate the conversation. The more time Edmond took to get to the point, the more time she had to get Helen to safety.

Edmond laughed, "You really don't want to be here, do you?"

"Oh no! I love it here!! It's the perfect vacation spot." Aria replied, rolling her eyes. She couldn't resist being sarcastic. Besides, something told her that for some weird reason, Edmond liked to talk idly with her.

She was proved right as the latter let out a howling laugh. "You really are something else. I don't think I've ever seen anyone this calm in such a situation." he said, wiping tears from his eyes.

Aria shrugged, "I guess your personality is not normal when you are the queen's lost daughter." But the next moment she realized she had said something she shouldn't have as the smile vanished from Edmond's face. It was replaced by his characteristic scowl as he spoke, his face serious. "Well, it's not like the situation can get much worse." Aria thought to herself.

"About that. How much do you like queen Amber?" Edmond asked.

Aria frowned before she shrugged, "I barely know her. I've met her once. But from what I hear she's a wonderful ruler and an amazing person."

Edmond's eyes narrowed as he spoke, "You're not at all angry that she abandoned you when you were a baby?"

"I suppose she had her reasons." Aria replied, wondering what was he getting at. "I don't think there's any reason strong enough to part from your new-born." he said, looking at Aria from under his narrowed eyelids.
