CHAPTER START------

---The City of Orario, Tower of Babel, Yang's Apartment...

Yang was currently reading a book about aquatic monsters while laying on his bed with Lefiya at his side, with her face in one of his expensive magic books.

Lefiya: "I still think this is stupid."

Yang: "Yeah well too bad I'm still doing it huh."

Lefiya: "Mmm, I don't see why you need to fight it alone, it's a two-headed dragon. Not to mention it's in water."

Yang: "Damn if only I could walk on water or something."

Lefiya: "Ha. Ha. Very funny, it's just an unnecessary risk to go fight it alone, just make the water solid and have Finn, Riveria and Ais deal with it for you."

Yang: "That's not the contract. Besides this is the first time I'll really get to use water aside from training on the 18th floor. Could be fun."

Lefiya: "Fun he says, Yeah I'll just go fight a massive two-headed water dragon IN WATER for fun, exactly the words every girl wants to hear."

Yang: "You don't need to be so worried, all of you will be right there, besides even if I can't beat it in the time limit I'll probably have it done by the time you guys get back.

Lefiya: "Just, be careful ok. That thing no joke."

Yang: "Your entire team is gonna be right there watching so I'll be fine. I was hoping the Goliath would have been a good sparring partner but honestly, maybe a water dragon is what I need. Oh, how'd I look in my new gear by the way?"

Lefiya: "Oh, uh, you look great," she says while burning her face deeper into her book, desperate to hide her blush.

Yang: "Hmm, alright I guess I'll keep that style for my next set since you like it so much."

Lefiya: "Mhm, that's good. So how was leading that team to the 18th floor?"

Yang: "Boring, they cleared out the top floors really easy because there were 12 of them, just the goliath and bulette required me and those were easy. We spent 2 days on the 18th floor for the guild staff to do their checks then came back up. Honestly not sure why Hephaestus wanted me there in the first place."

Lefiya: "Hmm, well, before Riveria got promoted Loki made her work with lots of teams from our familia so maybe it's the same thing for you. Hephaestus doesn't have a vice-captain right?"

Yang: "Hm, I hadn't even thought of that, but that's way too much paperwork so I think I'd refuse honestly."

Lefiya: "Yeah I can't argue with that."

Yang: "I prefer spending my time fighting in the dungeon than in an office signing paper all day."

Lefiya: "Hm I don't know If I'd take it that far but I get what you mean."

Yang: "Hey what's the record for going from level 3 to level 4."

Lefiya: "I think it's a little over a year, why?"

Yang: "Think I can break it?"

Lefiya: "Haha, if anyone could it would be you, you know that."

Yang: "I think I'm gonna try to see if I can do it in one go."

Lefiya: "Uh, won't you be down there for months."

Yang: "I think it's easier to level up if you fight solo, so you won't have to miss me for long."

Lefiya: "Hey I never said I would miss you."

Yang: "Uh-huh."

Lefiya: "Hey it's getting pretty late, I need to go and make sure everything is ready for us to go tomorrow."

Yang: "Yeah tomorrow the big "Babysitting Quest" as Bete put it."

Lefiya: "Uh, yeah, I'll see you tomorrow Yang."

As they say goodbye they share a short kiss before Lefiya exits his apartment leaving him to study his book of marine monsters. Before long, however, Yang decides to walk down to Hephaestus's office and speak to her about the expedition tomorrow. After knocking on the door he waits for a moment until he hears a familiar voice telling him to come in.

Yang: "Tsubaki, you're back."

Tsubaki: "Just got back and heading to bed actually Yang, so what'd you need."

Yang: "Well considering the expedition, if I can't kill it how long am I allowed to stay down there."

Hephaestus: "As long as you'd like once you're being mindful of gear, rations, and injuries after you bring back the drops from it."

Yang: "I'm gonna try to break the level 3 to 4 record."

Tsubaki and Hephaestus both had shocked looks on their faces when Yang said this with such confidence.

Hephaestus: "Why are you so eager to get powerful exactly?"

Yang: "I just feel like something in the dungeon is waiting for me and I wanna get to it, besides, my opponent can resist elemental damage, what better place to train my magic?"

Hephaestus: "Hm, well if that's your reasoning then fine but promise me if it gets too tough you'll run."

Yang: "I promise, and I've got my flight If I get stuck."

Hephaestus: "True, you should get some rest its almost 8 PM and you leave at 6 AM."

Yang: "Right, goodnight Hephaestus and, welcome back Tsubaki."

As Yang exits the office Tsubaki looks over at Hephaestus and begins to speak.

Tsubaki: "You think HE, is gonna sit behind a desk and do paperwork as vice-captain, the kid cares more about being in the dungeon than being up here from what I see."

Hephaestus: "Maybe Vice-captain isn't the right word. How about our expedition commander?"

Tsubaki: "That sounds more like him."

Hephaestus: "Now all he has to do is level up and I'll make it official with the guild."

Tsubaki: "You really think he's gonna break the record though?"

Hephaestus: "His records speak for themself."

Tsubaki: "Well yeah, I just hope he doesn't do anything dumb."

Hephaestus: "Well, even if he doesn't, showing his Falna and being as subtle as a brick with his magic have done enough damage as is. After this quest with Loki familia, some changes have to be made."

After leaving her office Yang proceeded to purchase many more rations and 6 more health potions as well as 6 mana potions before retiring for the evening.

---Dungeon Entrance, Day of the expedition...

Along with the Loki familia main team, this time accompanied by Gareth, Yang now stood amongst them. To those who knew what was going on it was clear that Lefiya was ogling him in his armor while Finn gave everyone a quick briefing about their plan.

Finn: "If it's not in our way just ignore it, this applies to anything until the 19th floor, bugs like to swarm so we need to just clear out many and move from that point onwards, when we reach the 27th floor Yang will have 24 hours to slay his dragon before we move on without him. Do you understand Yang?"

Yang: "Yeah one day then I'm on my own, got it."

Bete: "And then we don't have to babysit anymore."

Yang: "Ugh."

Finn: "Alright everyone, remember to keep your eyes open in, there let's go."

As Finn finished giving his briefing the group began making their way toward the entrance to the first floor to begin their journey whilst acquiring quite some stares from the bystanders, especially since the new record holder was working with the Loki familiar for everyone to see.
