29 Chapter 29

The Information about the Celestials and the rogue AI was a bit of an eye opener because of the implications. I would have stopped but there is still a city floating in the air and that needs to be taken care off.

"Tony, we need to destroy any technology that is in the city and fast. Can you EMP this whole thing?" I said into the comms.

"EMP? But that will make this city pretty much destroyed. Oh well, calling one inn right now." He said.

"An EMP? Are you mother fuckers out of you god damn mind? You could drop the city." Fury yelled at us.

"The city is safe and it would stop once in orbit. EMP would destroy all common computers and electronics and even a few of the low level bots." I replied.

"How certain are you?" He asked.

"A hundred percent about the city. Sokovia is now imbedded with an unstable arc generator programmed to explode at about orbit height, sending the city plummeting to earth. I reprogrammed it to stabilize and send an energy blast into space neutralizing the threat. Also, I have a few ideas about the city." I said and began to move around destroying the bots.

The battle went on for about half a day before Reed killed Ultron as he tried to escape to the internet. Later that day, all Avengers and a few top Shield agents were in the control room for the floating city.

"So, this is Ultron?" Tony asked me and I nodded.

"I would appreciate it if you didn't treat me like your AI Mr. Stark. I am right here." An annoyed voice came from the computer.

"Don't sass me dipshit. You nearly destroyed my world."Tony yelled at the monitor.

"And this is all limited up here?" Fury asked and then walked away after getting confirmation.

"What about gravity? I am sure this thing will fall apart as soon as the energy field is gone." One of the Shield agents added.

"I will have artificial gravity emitters installed soon. The only problem would be power and that could be easily remedied with another arc reactor." Ultron pinged me on the tablet with the necessary items.

"I will have them delivered soon." I said and left the room.

Fury had already made plans for this place as a space station of sorts and all the space agencies got involved. In the meanwhile, the city was cleared out and all the materials were repurchased for reinforcing the land mass and for constructions. The new generator was online after a month and the construction was handed over to Ultron who was more or less the AI for all the systems present on board. JARVIS and TACT were the ones keeping Ultron in check. The Cradle was destroyed and I had taken the mind stone for safe keeping in another dimensional storage.

Tony was a bit annoyed when his idea of inserting Jarvis into the body was promptly scrapped by everyone but he didn't dwell on it. The body was taken to one of the secure sites for testing and research purposes under my supervision. The location of the secure site happened to be on the floating city, which was always directly under all AI's watch. Despite a lot of objections from the UN and other unsavory sources, the scientific community was really excited about this new development. They all had pooled enough resources for a space elevator and the materials used were metals and compounds found inside the leviathan from the New York invasion. The project was green lit unanimously and was strong armed its way through the UN safety protocols. The estimated monetary and environmental savings this project could lead to were immense and would definitely ruin all the giant space rockets. Well, sucks to suck, as Tony declared in a huge press release as the new frontier destroyed one industry.

Back in New York, Peter had to finally break the news to Miles about his devastating condition which was now actively affecting his life quality and abilities. That caused a bit of, lets just call it property damage and after which Miles retired from being a field agent to a researcher for the time being. Due to the new information about the celestials, Thor was constantly returning back to earth to watch out for any celestials that may show up. The Sokovia incident had also increased the members of the team by one with the new addition of Wanda Maximoff AKA the scarlet Witch.

In the meanwhile back in NY, The Ancient One was arguing with Maxwell about the placement of a new sanctum on the city.

"Maxwell, the electronics would almost always go haywire under dimensional strain any of us masters would cause and that would certainly cause damages to a city literally held up by machines." She said in a calm manner.

"Yes, but we could isolate the signature or any magical or dimensional output by using runes and barriers. It could totally work." I tried to convince her but the frown was ever present during the conversation.

"The work that would need to go into this would be unspeakably immense and the masters need to present in the sanctum now more than ever." She said and handed me a few books about shielding and barriers. "This is all the help we can offer, you can notify me once they are ready to be built but don't try to build them without my permission." She said and waved me back into the Queens base.

"The hell? How did she do that?" I said flabbergasted at the control of space that woman had.

"You got kicked out didn't you?" Fiore said with a grin.

She was dressed up super casually in her underwear and a tank top, eating a huge pile of pizzas. I smiled at her and snatched away a few pieces just to annoy her.

"So, how is the UN taking this?" She asked as she pulled out a few more pies from her infinite storage pouch.

"Not well. Are you using one of the greatest sorcerer's gifts to store food?" I asked.

"Well, yes and its great. It even keeps the food warm.and fresh forever." She said chomping into a new slice.

Asgardians are weird in more ways than I could have possibly imagined. For example, Fiore could recover from a stab wound in a matter of minutes and ignored tank fire, but the little hickeys I had left the previous night were still visible. I mean how does that work? My regeneration worked non stop and it wouldn't matter if I was in bed or battle because I could go on for months or even years before my energy ran out. According to one of the books on Asgardian physiology, their regeneration is more mystical than biological. There were mentions of All Father Borr, recovering from just a finger and another Asgardian sorcerer succumbing to a mere blade to the gut. All in all, it is super inconsistent.

Ultron had the gravity emitters installed after a good two months and in the meanwhile, UN was going crazy about the cluster fuck known as the Sokovia incident. Millions of dollars in damage and thousands of lives lost. The ecosystem in the valley was destroyed and the livelihood of many other smaller cities suffered a catastrophe. The UN council was moving towards a resolution called the sokovia accords. I was not about to let the entire Civil War scenario go down and I began to collect all evidence regarding wakanda and the New York invasion in order to stop the accords.

I had to portal to the city every day in order to check up on the new developments. One of such developments included a mall in space with Baskin Robbins and the pizza hut. Nasa had the bright idea that the development costs would be reduced significantly by simply letting the big companies like Pepsi and Coca-Cola in the city and establishing a marketplace of sorts. While I do love some coke but I drew the line where the stupid filth of earth was allowed in space. I did plan on making a scientific tour of sorts and letting college kids and few scientists come up every now and then to let them experience the delights of space. Maybe a few rich assholes could also be allowed but there would be no presence of corporate garbage.

There was another problem where the materials for construction were being bought a bit slowly and I had the good idea of using the space debris as the materials. I mean there is more than 2000 tons of free metal just floating around and just waiting to be used. The clean orbit was just a mere side effect. I took me and the team, which included members like Fantastic 4, X men, Shield, Jarvis and TACT, about 8 months of time to get the city fully operational. The energy shields were designed to absorb or deflect any and all forms of radiation or energy. This means that accidents like FF4 wouldn't happen here. The five arc reactors were fitted and protected in such a way that only 2 people were allowed to even be near them. One person was me and the other was Reed, and the only we could access these locations was together and with full body and energy scans. This further ensured that these locations wouldn't  be accessed by either of us even if we were mind controlled. The first order of business was to study the effects of microgravity on humans and other creatures which ranged from microbes to monkeys. The animal care organizations were really pissed about the usage of animals in these experiments but when asked for a better and efficient solution, they backed away. Soon the city was filled with scientists of all variety and the scientific community was booming. The research produced here was available to all the countries regardless of their contribution, but there were certain studies done away from society. These shady experiments included nuclear energy, weapons development and other research which had the potential to be used as weapons. The types of studies to be released were decided by the super think tank, a council of sorts that determined if the research was fit to be released to the public. The think tank had 10 people which held the greatest minds on earth, like Reed, Tony, Xavier, Peter, Yuri, Huang, Dilip, Olatunji, Jin and me. The UN wanted more people in the council but we denied them and continued on with our day.

One day as I was flying through NY city, a portal opened in front of me and I saw Alice and Master Zhao fighting a 15 feet tall being of sorts. I entered the portal and immediately blew the creature away with a decent sized muon beam.

"Max, we need to hold this creature until it can be contained." Alice said and conjured a huge amount of whips and other contraptions to bind the creature.

I pulled out a huge roll of spider rope and began to tie up the creature. The spider rope was a 2 centimeter thick spider web that Peter had whipped up for me for situations like this. I basically had about 10 kilometer length in one bundle and I had 50 of those bundles stored away in my pouch. Despite the strength of the ropes, it proved difficult tie the creature due to it having 50 tentacle-like arms which all had super strength.

"Why can we kill it?" I asked and Alice looked at me.

"It isn't killable. It is undying and can only be sealed. 4 masters are crafting a seal in a separate dimension. We need to subdue it till then." She said and conjured more whips.

"Fine." I said and began to take out more rope to tie the creature up. It took me a good 2 minutes to tie up the creature from head to toe and the fight was reduced to it screaming at us.

"That is some good rope." Zhao said and examined it. "Did you enchant it as well?" He asked in surprise.

"Yes. It had energy dampening charms and psychic wards every few meters." I said with a bit of pride.

"Nicely done. I am surprised that you weren't on a date with the Asgardian then." Alice said with a chuckle.

"That was bad luck and stop saying stuff like that. It is basically a red flag scenario." I said and sighed.

Soon, runes and symbols materialized in front of the creature and it was pulled into nothingness, leaving the rope behind. I looked at the rope and began to untangle it. After I had stored up the charms and ropes from the battle, I exited the dimensions and discovered the dumpster fire situation that was happening. The Avengers had been called to an African country and had to save the day by destroying a building with a bomb. I was gone for a few hours at most and this . . . . . No, that dimension had a temporal displacement. I looked at the tablet and discovered that I was gone for two weeks. I sighed and flew towards the Shield HQ. I got to my office and began to metaphorically put out the fires. Finally, my office was invaded by Fury and he looked furious.

"Explain." He growled at me.

"Fighting an immortal alien that was about to end the world in a different dimension." I said and watched as his anger subsided.

"The UN is about to cause a fracture in the Shield by passing the accords." He said and I nodded.

"Have a plan but it will take me a day to proceed with it." I said and he nodded.

"Send me the details." Fury said and left my office.

The assignments and the resource deployment was done at a speed that melted my keyboard and soon, I was in queens base. I waited for Diore to arrive and had to calm her down and apologize for leaving without telling her.

"So, about the accords." I began after my apologies and Fiore sighed.

"You come here after 2 weeks and you want to talk about those things." Fiore glared at me. "Fine. That situation needs to be resolved right now. Tell me if you have a plan." She said and I pulled her closer to me.

"I need to talk to my parents about this and I need to tell them the truth." I said and she gasped.

"Are you sure?" She asked and shook my head.

"I am not. I am worried about her safety and about her reaction to me. I am worried if she won't like you. I am scared that  she would hate me after this." I said and hugged Fiore.

"I am sure that she would not hate you but she will be angry." Fiore said and snuggled closer.

"Lets go. I need to get this over with quickly." I said and pulled her up. "Get ready. We are going there for dinner." I said and felt her worry radiate into me.

"What? I am not ready. I don't have a gift." She said in light panic and I kissed her to calm her down.

"Calm down. Just be yourself and it will be fine. Take a wine bottle." I said and we went to get dressed.

After an hour, we both were standing in front of my house. Mom opened the door and pulled me into a hug.

"Baby. I missed you so much."  She said and noticed Fiore. "Oh my. Who is this beautiful girl?" She said with a bright smile.

"This is Fiore. My girlfriend." I introduced her with a smile and mom pulled her into a hug as well.

"Now, dear. Come on in. We had so much to talk about." Mom pulled us into the house and handed us some tea and cookies.

"So, sweetie. Tell me what is on your mind. You seem worried." She said as she sat beside.

"Mom, what do you think of Electro?" I asked and she frowned.

"The super hero? What brought this on?" She asked back.

"A lot. So what do you think of him." I asked again.

"He is a hero and has helped a lot of people. Can't really think of anything bad about him." She said and looked at me

"I need to tell you something about him." I began and felt Fiore tense up. "I am Electro."

I said those words and felt a weight lifted off my chest. Like I could breath better now. I looked at mom and she had a confused look on her face.

"Look sweetie, this isn't really funny." She said trying to rationalize what I said as a joke.

I kneed in front of her and took her hand firmly. I looked into her eyes and repeated the words. "Mom, I am Electro."

"But those news people. Those aliens and explosions." Her eyes widened as she recalled whatever the new had relayed about me. "Since when?" She asked and tears streamed down her eyes.

"Since that time I was electrocuted in the basement." I said and a lump formed in my throat as well.

"Those times you said that you had to go on field trips, you lied and went to fights. You could have been killed. Oh baby. Why do you have to do this?" Mom said as she cried.

"I wanted to help people."  I said and hugged her as we both cried.

After a few minutes the situation had calmed down and she began to ask questions about my safety.

"Were you hurt during that fight?" She asked and pointed at the scene where Peter pulled me from Baxter building.

"Yes, but I heal super fast." I said and she looked like she was going to cry again.

"How? What if you are too hurt to heal?" She asked with tears in her eyes.

"Mom, it would take hundreds of nukes to hurt me that bad." I said and sighed.

"Nuclear bombs? Hundreds? How?" She yelled in surprise.

"It is a part of my power." I said.

"Oh." She said and calmed down again. "What exactly is your power anyway." She asked.

"I control electricity and few other energies." I said and demonstrated some sparks on my fingers.

"Wow. Does she have some power as well?" Mom asked and looked at Fiore.

"I can control plants." Fiore said and looked at mom with a smile.

I sighed and accepted the fact that it was going to be a long night.
