16 Chapter 16: Her

I nodded, “Okay.” and extended my hand to hand over her ball. She accepted it but she continued explaining.

“I was playing with a friend and then he suddenly ducked, and the ball flew to—”

“I said that it is okay.” I told her once more, louder, and clearer now. She looked at me, puzzled as if analyzing my face if I am sarcastic or not.

Worry and confusion defined her dark brown eyes, telling me that she is guilty. She seemed to take this seriously, this minor and usual accident that happens at times in the neighborhood. She heaved out a sigh before nodding, maybe slowly accepting the fact that this is no big deal. I nodded back to somewhat assure her, and reached for the umbrella at the side, getting ready to go back inside.

“uhh…hey! You with gray eyes!”

I turned around confused. What is it this time? Are we not done?

“Th-thank you.”
