2 The Blue Eyed Baby

The call was not taken into consideration by all. There were two stellars who were in a somewhat unlikely situation, and it was not possible to heed their general's call, even if they wanted to.

— Come on, honey, you can do it!

The commander Aros, head of the Central Troop, found himself in a moment that would change his life: his wife was giving birh. And in the case of stellars, that seemed to be literally giving the light.

He had never heard of the birth of a star from parents, but it was happening. For years his wife, Luriel, had begun to swell and glow, had reached the level of barely moving. And it was when the screaming began that he understood that the time had come.

— Just a little more energy! That's it!! You will get it! — The commander was euphoric, smiling as his wife shook his hand.

Her other hand gripped the collar of his armor and he found himself face to face with her, who had a scary expression in the face.

— If you... keep filling me — Luriel said slowly, the effort taking his breath away —, I'll crush... what you used... to put that brat on me..., Arooss!... So, quiet! — She shouted at him furiously.

She was part of the Southern Troop, not a warrior like her mate, who loved to stay in stardust armor. She was a scholar, had watched the earth for ages, and that was why she understood the situation she was in, though the process of pregnancy and childbirth was happening in ways she had not expected.

He, as commander of the Central Earth Stars Troop , was tall and very strong, his black hair was shoulder length , his yellow eyes gleamed, he had a thick beard that covered his face, hiding his neck.

She had bulky brown and wavy hair, and blue eyes. She was small and thin... or should be, at that moment, she was incredibly swollen, and a blue light emanated from all over her body.

They were the opposite of each other, but they loved each other like never before with other stellars, and that was one of the reasons that miracle was happening, they were sure.

— Yes ma'am. I said nothing! — He swallowed, putting his hand to his forehead in the act of salute.

His attention was taken by the light coming out of his wife to a point near her.

— Oh! By Ulmo! Here he comes, honey, it's shining!

The starlight began to focus more and more on that spot. She began to flush, returning to the slim, small body she had before as the energy went out.

The little dot began to change shape. Aros approached, fascinated, small legs and arms appeared, a head with thin black hair appeared and suddenly the space filled with the sound of crying.

The father jumped back in fright and laughed, cradling that little star in his arms to look at him intently.

— Honey, it's a boy ...

At the unexpected pause, the new mother looked up worried and stared at the star with its back to her.

— What is it, Aros?

— It's just ... it's a boy with blue eyes.

Luriel's eyes widened for a moment, but she remembered the stupid craze of this crude soldier to make jokes out of time.

— Aros, this is no time to play, give me my son, come on. — She held out her arms and he turned to take him to his wife. — Everyone knows that male stellars have yellow eyes and only females have blue ones.

She stopped talking, looking at the little baby who was staring at her happily, not only was the child's eyes blue, but they remembered hers, the shape, the nuance of blue. It was like her eyes, but on a smaller scale. There was nothing of the bright yellow with red edges of Aros.

The stellar felt a tightness close to her chest, her eyes hot with the bright tears that wanted to run down. Always imagined that what she felt for the commander was love, and not turns out it was not that, but what she felt for that baby ... it was completely different. It was a love of such purity that hurt the heart.

— I told you. — He said, without repairing the woman's state of appreciation.

— He inherited my eyes. — She looked fascinated at the baby and spoke quietly as if to herself.

— What?

Blinking, she took her eyes off her son, a bluish tear running down her cheek illuminating it. She looked at the man in front of her, a little confused by the question, until she realized he should not have heard what she said before.

— He has eyes like mine, Aros. — Her voice was choked with emotion. — As with humans, they have their characteristics based on their parents.

— But I never knew of a stellar blue-eyed man! — He spread his arms.

— And by chance ever heard of stellars ram a child? — She returned firmly.

— You know I don't, but ...

— But nothing, Aros. Look at him, it's fantastic! Is our son! — Her serious expression began to soften again. — We are family, as humans say. You're mine... — She tried to remember the words. — My husband, and I am your wife. — She gave a proud smile as always did when showed her knowledge. — I bet he'll look a lot like us when he grows up.

The new dad then wiped his face and opened one of his wide smiles that everyone admired.

— If he're as handsome as me, we'll have trouble in a while.

— Ha, ha. You're so silly sometimes, you know that? — Luriel said, as if it were a sad realization.

The commander opened his mouth to apologize when he saw a smile appear on the woman's face, then smiled and kissed her with all the passion he felt. Then, he looked back at his son and began searching for similarities between them.

— What name can we give him, Aros?

He kept looking at the baby, his blue eyes sparkling, they really looked like hers.

— The first real Earth star. Maybe a name that reflected that, honey. — He crossed his arms and frowned. — If I had known he would be born so fast, I would have thought of that sooner."

She thought of the terrans, remembered their tongues and meanings, remembered a language she heard a lot and learned, so she smiled at her mate.

— He'll be called Eastar.

— Eastar? Honey, isn't that a girl name? — He scowled again.

— It can't be a girl name, because I just made it up, Aros. — He rolled his eyes and, seeing the bewilderment on the commander's face, sighed, knowing he would have to explain. — Eastar. Earth and Star. The two words together in one name is perfect, isn't it? — She gave him another proud smile and saw his grimace immediately disappear.

— Yes ma'am!

He was excited, for a moment Luriel thought he would start jumping, which was always a funny scene due to his size and powerful appearance.

— Eastar! It will be one of the greatest soldiers ever!

She gave a disapproving whimper, did not want her son to turn into a brute soldier like her father, wanted an intelligent young star with a quick and gentle mind.

She looked over the captain's shoulder and saw what the terrans would call "The Star Fall." Thousands of stars descending to the planet, beams of light converging on Earth from all directions. It was a magical scene.

— Look, love.

— Yeah, it seems that a lot of people decided to go down, wanted to go too. — His thoughts were beginning to drift away.

— Aros. — She said calmly. It was amazing how she didn't have to raise her voice to frighten a man as big and strong as him.

— Hi? I didn't say anything. — He replied. — I'm a father now, I know my place. — Then he looked at his son. — Look, honey, looks like he enjoy the light show.

At that moment, many stars were descending to Earth, their bodies turning to pure energy and falling like little meteors.

The space lit up yellow and blue.

Eastar smiled, his eyes shone ever more intensely, and his body was emitting a light even more strong .

Aros and Luriel did not understand what was happening. Neither imagined that the glow came from the absorption of the energy released by all those who came down to Earth, did not understand why the light of the baby's body went from the color of orange to blue fire.

The parents were completely absorbed in the child's laughter and didn't even notice a presence right behind them.

— Congratulations... I think is that what they say in this situation, isn't it?

The couple turned and saw the moon.

— Sooooryaa!!! — Aros run at her, hugging she tightly. — See? Amazing, isn't it? The first of all!

— Yes. — She let herself hug and followed the star, who put his arm around her shoulders.

They approached Luriel, who smiled and bowed a little.

— Luriel, I didn't want to say that, but ...

— I know, I have to get down.

— Nobody knows humans like you, we need help if we don't want everyone to kill each other.

The little star stared at her son in her lap, thinking of staying away from him was horrible, but she knew her duty.

She grimaced, struggling to release his son into his father's arms.

— No, not for me. — He raised his arms and shook his head.

— What do you mean?

— I'll go down too! I will not be out of this.

— And who will take care of him at this time?

Aros smiled and looked at Sorya, who widened her eyes.

— You can only be kidding!
