East meets West (the CEOs bride)

Nothing is more heartbreaking than preparing to marry your childhood sweetheart, only for it to not happen.

 Twenty-two years old Sharon was waiting at the city hall for the man she thought would marry her.

 "Jason, Jason. Where are you? I'm waiting for you at the city hall. Aren't we supposed to get married today?"

 She asked feeling scared.

 "Sharon, I'm sorry. I don't want to marry you anymore. Please move on with your life." He said cutting the call.

Rain began to fall heavily, mirroring the tears in her eyes. Unbeknownst to Sharon, behind her stood a young man who was also stood up by his fiancé on their wedding day. He was angry but when he saw how helpless and broken Sharon was, he couldn't help but ask the woman who was sitting behind the desk.

 "What's wrong with her." He asked as the lady looked at her with pity.

 "She was supposed to get married today but the groom stood her up." The lady answered as he turned to Sharon going over to her.

 "Excuse me, miss. Would you like to get married?" He asked as she turned to look at him with a teary eyes.

 "What?" She asked not believing her ears.

 "I asked if you would like to get married." He repeated as she wiped her eyes standing up looking at him thoroughly.

This guy is good looking but he's in rags. Is this how my life has turned to now? First, I was rejected and now I'm being proposed to by a pauper. Do I really look that bad. She thought shaking her head in disappointment. Her life was really a mess.

 "Look, you really don't need to agree to this. I just thought we could help each other out since we're in the same shoes." He said

 "What do you mean "the same shoes"?". She asked

He smiled raising up his hands to show that he meant no harm.

 "I was supposed to get married today but I was equally stood up and then I assumed that's what happened to you. So if you're willing, then we could get married but if your not then it's ok." He said

She really wanted to cry. This is not how she wanted today to go.

 "Ok. Let's get married." She said surprising herself. She didn't know when she said yes. She wanted to take it back but when she saw the smile on his face, she could refuse.

 "Then it is settled. We can still get married today if it's ok with you?" he asked as she nodded.

They walked up to the lady at the register who was going to get them married. To Sharon, they were getting married but not to the right person. At least, she was getting married today. Everybody expected her to get married today but she won't tell them she got married to a pauper. She'll come up with an excuse to get them off her back for a while

 "Are you two ready?" the lady asked .

They nodded but the lady still looked at them thinking it was a bad decision.

 "Don't worry. We're ok with this." He said as Sharon nodded.

The lady gave them a pen to sign under their names. Sharon gave a sigh when everything was over.

 "Congratulations Ethan and Sharon Lancaster." The lady said as they stood up and left.

They waited for the rain to stop before they boarded the same Uber. Through out the ride, Sharon didn't say a single word. She didn't even spare Ethan a glance. She was so lost in her thoughts whereas Ethan watched her through out the ride. She was so deep in thoughts.

 "Please I'll drop off here." She said

Ethan frowned but didn't say anything. Then she paid the driver and came down as she turned to him.

 "I don't have much and looking at you, I know you don't." She said pointing at her back.

 "This is where I work. I'm a baker. If you ever need anything, you know where to find me." She said closing the doors and going her way as the driver continued to drive.

Ethan frowned deeper as he became curious. He brought out his phone and dialed a number.

 "I'll soon be there but before that I need you to get all the information about a certain woman." He said raising the wedding card up.

 "Sharon Moore." He said looking up as he cut the call. I'll drop at the next stop. He said as the driver nodded.

 "Yes sir." He said.
