33 Ch. 32

Having new weapons, Edwin needed to learn how to use them. Not only did they have blades now, but they also had chains attached to them. That would take some time to get used to.

Sadly, the city they were in wasn't a suitable place for that. Plus, there were no bodies of water around. Technically there were, but they were all frozen.

Edwin had tried eating ice, but it didn't restore his strength as water did. He didn't know why since ice was just frozen water, but it just didn't work.

He also wasn't able to create ice no matter what he tried. Decreasing the temperature of his conjured water to the point right before it freezes was his limit.

Increasing it worked the same way. He could get it to the point right before it turns into vapor, but no further than that. It could be useful if he ever wanted to burn someone, but he preferred killing them than that.

Brann also wanted to continue being a blacksmith, but metals were scares in the city they currently resided. There was a blacksmithy, but the people owning it were happy to rent it out due to there being almost no business.

With that in mind, they traveled towards one of the coastal cities of Iceberg, Orcadas. The town had a port, and metals were more easily obtainable there.

Edwin didn't mind setting up Brann by lending him some Jewels, so he can start his business again. The blacksmithy will be co-owned by the two, and this way, he could gather Jewels without doing anything. Maybe he could help out from time to time and create something, but for the most part, he will do his own thing.

That was increasing his Skill and Class Levels. Summoning Magic was at 8, and it was his current priority alongside learning how to use his new weapons.

Edwin found a secluded place on the beach, a distance away from Orcadas, and he got to work. He inscribed a magic circle on the ground and summoned a weak Devil to get accustomed to using his weapons.

Devils weren't the only beings he could summon, but they were the ones that awarded him the most XP. Plus, if there are specific ones he wants to call out, it was easier since they were nothing but a projection.

Summoning other magical beings actually summoned them there. If he killed the summoned being, summoning it back will be impossible.

That's why he stuck to Devils, and sometimes he wondered where exactly were their true bodies.

When he got a feel of using his new weapons, Edwin inscribed another magic circle and poured 90% of his Magic Power into it.

"HEAT..." The confusion on Jaggenuul's face was priceless.

"What is that?" The Blade Devil asked while pointing at his weapons.

"It's an abomination that has chains attached to it, but... it has blades? It also looks tasty? I'm confused." Jaggenuul was tilting his head this way and that, trying to get a better look at the weapons. He just wasn't sure what to think of them.

Edwin found it funny how confused the Devil looked, but the moment he mentioned that his weapons looked tasty, he angrily began firing upon Jaggenuul. They were not a meal!

"Gah!" Jaggenuul screamed in pain as two Water God's Jet Cutters pierced through him.

When Edwin had used the same spell against the Blade Devil in Wrath, it had barely scratched him. Now, the two spells left two large holes in Jaggenuul's body.

Not only was the Blade Devil less powerful, but Edwin had grown in strength, and his Guns of Chaos were made of an incredible metal. His Magic Power flowed through them as easy as breathing, and they made his spells stronger.

Jaggenuul returned fire by sending a volley of blades, and Edwin created a wall of black water to stop them. The blades pierced through it, but they were slowed down enough for him to dodge out of the way with ease.

The Blade Devil tried getting closer to him, but Edwin would just use Water God's Aqua Jet and move away before continuing to fire upon him. He was afraid that Jaggenuul would chomp on his weapons if he got closer to him.

"Not again! No! I refuse!"

Plus, this way of fighting angered Jaggenuul as it reminded him of the battel in Wrath. Edwin had just kept running away from him while shooting him from afar. In the end, the Blade Devil fell with holes littering his body.

Now, Edwin could've summoned another one to fight against, but he still remembered how Jaggenuul had chased in him the camp. It was time for some payback. So he summoned him again.

"I WILL KILL YOU!" Jaggenuul was fueled by anger, but the result remained the same. The Blade Devil couldn't hit Edwin with his spells, and he couldn't catch up to him to fight in close combat.

"YOU WILL KNOW PAIN!" Jaggenuul screamed as he was summoned once more.

"I WILL CRUCIFY YOU!"

...

"YOU ARE DEAD MEAT, HEATHEN!"

...

"Look, we can talk about this."

...

"There is no need for us to fight."

...

"Please, stop! Enough of this!"

...

"I beg of you! Please!"

...

"I don't want to fight anymore!"

...

"I just want to eat a tasty blade."

Jaggenuul had even stopped fighting. He just sat there, sniffling and looking as if he was about to cry.

"No," Edwin refused and began firing upon him. He Summoning Magic Skill had increased to 9, so he needed XP for his Class. If Jaggenuul was going to sit there and give it to him without even resisting, he was perfectly fine with that.

Jaggenuul stopped talking after that. Every time he was summoned, he just waited for Edwin to kill him before he got summoned again. The Blade Devil had never been humiliated in such a way in his entire life.

When his XP bar was full, Edwin finally stopped summoning him. Now, it was time to max out the Magic Skill, which he already had a plan for.

Edwin inscribed a magic circle on the ground with the intention to summon a specific being. He began pouring his Magic Power into it while drinking water at the same time. He wasn't sure how much he used, but at some point, there was a blinding light.

"Greetings, Godling. I'm the Archangel Barakiel. How may I help you?" A three-headed being with white skin and feathered wings on his back asked him.

"Um, you are not the one I wanted to summon," Edwin said as he observed the Archangel. Barakiel's entire body was pure white, and his three heads looked at him kindly. That was a lot better than the screaming Devils that looked at him with anger.

"My apologize, who did you wish to call forth?" Barakiel asked.

"A God of Lightning," Edwin answered. He was hoping such a God would be willing to teach him Magic. Being electrocuted was not a pleasant feeling, and he did not want a repeat of that. He figured the easiest way to solve his problem was to just learn Lightning God Slayer Magic.

"I see, well, you will need a lot more Magic Power to call forth a God of any kind," Barakiel told him.

"A lot more?" Edwin asked before saying. "But, I kept pouring Magic Power non-stop, and you got summoned."

"You used the water to recharge and kept going. I see. That's a good plan, but you will still end up summoning an Archangel with this method," Barakiel said.

"Soo, how would I go about summoning a God?" Edwin asked the helpful Archangel.

Barakiel flew over his magic circle and observed it for a moment.

"You have the right idea, but pouring Magic Power consistently won't do the job. You will have to do it at the same time, overcharging the magic circle," Barakiel explained.

"Got it," Edwin nodded and started formulating a plan to do that.

"May I ask, why do you wish to summon a God? I can feel that you are a God Slayer that has already passed his trial? What need do you have of a God Lightning for?" Barakiel asked.

"I was hoping one would teach me his Magic," Edwin honestly answered since the Archangel had spoken with respect and even helped him out.

"I see. I don't think one would be willing to teach you, but you could at least try. As a God Slayer, you are like a child to them. They will be willing to at least listen to you," Barakiel said.

"Well, thanks for telling me. I will be going now, you do you," Edwin bid him goodbye before leaving.

"Goodbye to you too, Godling. I will explore the lands until the Magic Power you used to summon me sustains me here." Barakiel flew away.

Edwin returned to Orcadas. He checked every single store in the city and bought as many Lacrimas as he could. Just to be safe, he went to a few nearby cities and purchased even more from there. He would rather overdo it than underdo it.

Returning back to the beach, he inscribed the magic circle and filled it with Lacrimas.

"I think I really overdid it, but it's better to be safe than sorry," Edwin said as he watched the pile of Lacrimas.

The magic circle was 10m in diameter, and the Lacrimas filled it entirely. The pile was also 1.5m high.

Edwin poured his Magic Power and activated the Lacrimas. What followed was a multicolored blinding light before a man stumbled out of it.

When he was able to see again, he observed the one that he summoned.

'Did I fail again?' Edwin questioned himself, but his Summoning Magic did end up leveling up, so he wasn't sure.

However, there wasn't that same itch where he craved to fight the man. It was there, it was just so minuscule compared to when he met Lytmir. The man also didn't have the presence of the Battle God, but Edwin figured that might be due to him being a lesser God or something.

"That was by far my worst Bifrost experience," The man uttered. He was tall with long blonde hair, dressed in armor, and held a hammer in his hand.

He looked around and said. "Hmm. This doesn't look like Asgard. Where am I?"

Edwin hadn't heard of this Asgard nation, but he answered the man. "You are in Iceberg."

"Iceberg?" The man turned to him. "This doesn't look like an iceberg."

"No, this is the country of Iceberg," Edwin replied and asked. "And who are you?"

"I'm Thor Odinson. The God of Thunder!" Thor proclaimed and raised his hammer as if to make a point.

Edwin wasn't sure if that was true. Thor looked more like God Slayer than a God to him. He didn't dare question him, in case he truly was a God.

"Which realm is this?" Thor asked him.

"I'm not sure I follow, but this is the country of Iceberg, situated on the continent of Ishgar, which is on Earhtland," Edwin explained while wondering how to bring the topic of Lighting God Slayer Magic.

"Earthland? Like Midgard? I see," Thor said thoughtfully.

"I haven't heard of Midgard," Edwin replied.

"Hm. Where did the Bifrost bring me then?" Thor asked.

"I don't know what a Bifrost is, but I was the one summoned you here," Edwin replied.

"You? So that means you ca... GAHHHH!" Thor suddenly dropped on the ground, clutching his head as memories flooded his mind. He saw so many different lives of his, but they all ended up in the same way, with the destruction of Asgard and all Asgardians.

"Great... I summoned a defective God," Edwin said after Thor passed out from screaming.

"At least I maxed out my Summoning Skill."
