For the moment, the four of them watched the TV, which was playing the news happening all over the Kingdom.
Suddenly I exclaimed with a jaded look:
"Always the same thing with his media!"
Nomiko answered immediately, intrigued:
"Huh? Why do you say that?
"They spend all their time talking about what's wrong with the Kingdom. They could change a bit and tell us about things that are going well, right? I said annoyed.
My mother answered me in the greatest of calmness, as usual:
"Well Yùichi, if you're not interested, can you go and help your father who is working outside, please?"
At these words, I got up from my chair and walked to the door and said:
"Well said, at least it will take my mind off it. And call me if there's something amazing on the news.
Nomiko answered me directly and with a big smile:
"No problem, count me in.
I nodded and with those words, I left the house.
But as soon as I stepped outside, I was dazzled by the blinding sunlight.
It took me about ten seconds to get my eyes used to the light and for the pain to disappear.
Then I walked around the house and called out to my father:
"Hey!? Dad!? Where are you? I'm coming to help you!
But I didn't hear any answer in return.
So I decided to take an axe that was stuck in a tree stump on the ground, while continuing to look for my father and calling him.
I reached the edge of the forest, stopped and decided to throw the axe in the air and see if I could catch it by the handle before it hit the ground.
I made the first three throws, but dropped it to the ground to see how fast it spun around.
On the fourth throw I decided to catch it, but seeing the speed at which the axe was spinning and the air I changed my mind and withdrew my hand at the last moment, for I saw that if I caught it it would cut my fingers and the axe could finish its fall to the ground without my being injured.
Despite my failure, I still had not resigned myself to giving up.
So I decided to throw it one last time:
"Come on, this time I'll catch it well!" I exclaimed.
I threw the axe in the air and looked at it with great attention, suddenly I decided that this was the right moment and placed my hand under the axe spinning in the air.
The axe landed with the handle directly in my hand.
"Yes! I did it!" I shouted, happy and proud of myself.
The celebration was short-lived, because suddenly I heard a loud noise coming from the forest. I decided to turn around and head towards the forest, holding my axe out in front of me in defence and trying to see what it was, but it was so dark inside that I couldn't see anything from more than a metre away.
I was startled when I saw a tall black figure in front of me shouting at me:
"What are you doing here kid? Do you think this is a place to play!?"
